Id, you’re going to earn a free holiday vacation if you don’t learn when to lay off.

Where were you in '77?

I just popped back over here to say, thanks to Possessed for reaffirming my faith in humanity for today.
Something similar happened to me once.

Walking home from a friend’s house I saw a very drunk, very young man in a fury because a man I had met once about a month or so before was walking out of a private club dressed as Emma Peel (the first time I met him he was in plain clothes so I didn’t recognise him at first though I knew from conversation with him and his girlfriend that this was a thing he did).
To be honest I was more worried about the young chap because he was about to start hitting way above his weight. This guy was in high heels and wasn’t taking shit from anyone they were staring each other out and screaming the place down.
I stood between the two of the them with my back to the younger chap and locked eyes on man in a dress and started walking him and his very scared friend (dressed as my nan) up the hill without turning around.
Okay it’s only slightly similar. I don’t know where the inspiration to intervene came from, I didn’t really think it through, I just sort of found myself there breaking it up.

You stood in the way of danger and I applaud you.

As for your bank account what’s the bank’s policy on identity theft?
I had an ex who forged my signature and got credit cards in my name and used my cheque book to buy items. In the end this went into the tens of thousands, I went into the bank and they pulled a copy of the cheque and I convinced them that my handwriting was not the same as that on the cheques or the credit card applications and they liased with the other card companies to get all charges waved and the funds returned.
Many banks have insurance for this sort of theft, I’m not sure if the laws are similar over the pond.

Best of luck and take care.

I swear I had nothing to do with the theft of Possessed’s identity!

Thanks for sharing your story Bingowings. I actually am very close to this woman that it happened to (perhaps why ID’s comment especially irritated me), although I would have intervened anyway.

And as for the bank, I’m not entirely sure, because that bank actually got robbed at gunpoint today, so I won’t be going in there for a day or two…

I don’t know how much longer I can take living in this shithole of a house.

All the doors are broken – my bedroom door’s broken right off its hinges and the front door, frame and all, could literally be pushed right out of the wall; the ceiling leaks right over my bedroom door everytime it rains/snow melts; I can’t use a heater in my room for a prolonged period of time before the breaker goes off; and there’s a never-ending supply of mouse shit in all the kitchen drawers.

I’m almost certain a significant portion of my bad mood would go away if I could just move out and find a proper place to live in. Unfortunately, the family owns four large dogs, and there aren’t a whole lot of other places available for rent that’ll either accept or be able to house those kind of pets.

I love my dogs, but if I’d known back in 2001 what my housing situation would be like in 2015, I’d have never asked for a dog and would have done everything in my power to convince everyone else in my family against getting one, too.

Why don’t just you move out? I’m sure your family would let you come visit the dogs.

I never graduated from high school, the one and only job I ever had was for less than six months back in 2008, I suffer from social anxiety disorder, and my mathematical comprehension’s at a fifth grade level, if that. I don’t have what it takes to make it on my own yet.

Does. Canada have a program similar to America’s GED program?

I’m putting this out here rather than a PM because there may be others in similar situations as yourself.

I don’t know if you read what I wrote earlier on the emotional problems thread but I’d urge you to go back there and read it even if you aren’t in emotional distress : http://originaltrilogy.com/topic/The-Place-to-Go-for-Emotional-Support/id/17350/page/13

You say that your current unhappiness is largely down to the state of your home.

Break down what needs to be done into smaller and smaller processes until you have a thing that you could do right away or very soon.
If you rent your home use the internet to find out what the legal responsibilities the property owner has and get them to live up to those responsibilities.
If you own your home or your home owner isn’t living up to their responsibilities to you, document the current state of the problem with photographs.
If you have any local friends or family that are contemplating giving you anything for Christmas direct them to give you money, supplies or help to repair your home.
Either get a repairman in and keep the receipts if you intend to bill your landlord or use the internet to gain the skills to repair the problem yourself (these skills may come in handy getting paid employment in the future so contemplate any training schemes along these lines you could do in the future).

If you ruminate on the state of your home and how that makes you feel, you will feel worse. The act of doing anything is self empowering. It takes your mind off of what is upsetting you and takes you in a direction towards being contented.

Work towards the outer limits of your anxiety levels don’t try to run beyond them but edge nearer away from them and you will find your genuine psychological boundaries will expand albeit slowly.

In the short term imagine the best your current home could be and then break it down until you can identify a step you can do right away. I suggest the doors would be a key priority as winter is coming and you want to feel secure and keep warm.

Take care and let us know how you get on.

I have actually been on a program like that for a couple of years now. All I have to do is finish the math stuff and then I should be able to graduate.

Of course, I don’t know how long that’s going to take; I have a hard time remembering how to do long division, so everything that involves it is a labour to work through. Also, for the past couple months I’ve been trying to get in touch with the math instructor to continue my studies, but he hasn’t gotten back to me; I missed last semester and I might miss the upcoming one. I don’t know what the hell is going on there with him.

Hang in there bud. Long division is one of those that seems really confusing when you aren’t used to it, but one of these days it will just sort of ‘click’ and then it will start to make sense.

There are some very good online courses where you could read articles, watch videos and ask questions of other students and course leaders on forums like this one.
Some of them give certificates at the end but you could use them as practice for completing your officially recognised qualifications. For Example https://alison.com/learn/maths or https://www.futurelearn.com/courses/numeracy-skills.
Something like that you could do in your spare time at your own pace and then return to gain your official qualification with more confidence knowing that any interaction with your fellow students would be like here. Where your anxiety levels are hopefully not as high.

I’m really hoping I don’t get cold this Christmas. I caught a real bag one about a week before Christmas last year and it didn’t go away until after New Years, I even threw up on Christmas day. The year before I started to come down with a bad cold on Christmas Eve. I tried to fight it off until the day after Christmas, but to no avail. I really don’t want to be sick this year.

Dear Steve Harvey,

Although I never watch the Miss Universe Pageant, wasn’t watching last night(I was watching My Eagles get killed by the Cardinals), and don’t care about it that much, I still have something to say about what you did last night. You announced the wrong winner of the Pageant last, even though the card made clear who the winner was:

card

and then when you went to twitter to apologize, you misspelled the names of the countries of the two contestants involved. Mr. Harvey please click here.

Sincerely,

The Warbler

Now I wish to b***h about Warbler. What a idiot that Warbler is. He goes to see the new Star Wars movie. He decides he wanted to enjoy the new Star Wars movie with nice big tub of popcorn. No problem so far. But then Warbler something stupid. Because he thinks the popcorn will make him thirsty, he get a big cup a diet soda. I think you can guess what happened to him half way through the movie: Nature called. Nature really called. I mean really really called. Of course Warbler didn’t want to miss any of the movie, he didn’t answer nature until the end of the movie. Don’t worry, there wasn’t any accident. It is just that due nature really really really calling, Warbler was distracted from the movie was unable to really enjoy it as intended. Warbler had to run out of theater as soon the credits started rolling, when he wanted to stay till after credits ended to see if anything extra happened. Warbler still doesn’t know whether anything happened after the credits, he will have to go back and watch the movie again. What a stupid idiot that Warbler is. This sort of think has happened in the past and yet he still choose to get the big soda. Oh well, at least he was successful at avoiding something really embarrassing Will he ever learn his lesson?

Author

Yeah although I loved the movie I hate seeing it in theaters. Due to my alcoholism I literally have to per at least once an hour and there’s no avoiding it.

Author

I didn’t realize alcoholism to could do that to you. Of course drinking a lot of alcohol could make you go. But I didn’t realize alcoholism could cause you to go even at times when you don’t drink.
