It’s probably nothing at all but Adam Driver appeared on the Tonight Show w/Jimmy Fallon last night and when Fallon was talking about his character he said “you play Kylo Ren” and Driver interjected “or Ren Kylo” and then Fallon made a joke about looking him up in a phone book (e.g. Ren, Kylo vs. Kylo, Ren).

I have had a long held suspicion that maybe, just maybe, Ren is Driver’s actual name. And that Kylo is just a title or a total misdirection by Abrams. I know there’s a ton of toys out there and promotional material that says “Kylo Ren” but I can’t help but thing in some way or another Abrams is messing with us (which I LOVE). I want to be surprised.

Abrams has a history of doing this with other projects. most notably the still unseen by me (I don’t dig Star Trek) Star Trek Into Darkness film where he went so far as to publicize a specific character as being “John Harrison” when in actuality the character was Khan. It’s not such a stretch to think that Abrams would do this in Star Wars.

Ren/Rey Solo twins? Kylo some sort of anagram for Skywalker/Solo? Obviously I have too much time on my hands, back to work.

Given that he’s Kylo Ren because he joined The Knights of Ren, the potential switcheroo is just a question of if the title should be a prefix (as with “Darth”) or a suffix (as with, apparently, “Ren”).

Right. But what if the ‘Knights of Ren’ title is a complete ruse?

There comes a point where, although we could doubt all information as ruses, it’s just pointless to do so?

You’re probably right. I know there is a ‘mystery box’ in the film somewhere though, probably multiple.

LA Times article about the role of the new female characters with an interesting hint from Kathleen Kennedy: http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/herocomplex/la-ca-hc-the-women-of-star-wars-the-force-awakens-20151206-htmlstory.html

But you won’t see Phasma tapping out after being carelessly knocked into a sarlacc pit like a wobbly toddler. Kennedy has big plans for Phasma and confirmed that the captain will carry on into the next movie. “She’s an important character, a baddie in the best sense of the word.”

Looks like Phasma will definitely survive TFA, unless KK is talking about spinoffs.

JJ’s AOL interview: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Ekui0QWaCA

He comes across as very grounded. He also takes the high road every time out. By all accounts from what we’ve seen so far, as well as heard from everyone involved, his film is a radical and intentional step back into the original galaxy far far away. Yet every time he’s asked or given the opportunity to discuss how far he’s distanced this from the prequels and why, he never bad-mouths or takes cheap shots at Lucas or those terrible films.

In this current age of lauding angry snark as entertainment, it’s refreshing to see someone so professional and intelligent. His lens flare story is another area where he stays grounded and honest. He’s aware people don’t like them and he’s aware he went too far. He owns the mistake and doesn’t shy away from taking the criticism.

Good evening,

Just read an article and Rey is the new Millennium Falcon pilot. Discuss.

I think we have known that she flies it since the behind-the-scenes vid in June or July. There’s probably some discussion from then. Some people surely made the excellent point that they thought it was neat, while others undoubtedly raised the important counterpoint that it in fact sucks.

I read the same article. We’ve seen her in the cockpit a few times now so the fact that she flies the Falcon in itself isn’t a surprise, but if they mean to imply that the arrangement is permanent, I’d say that doesn’t bode well for Han.

Don’t know if anyone else saw that tabloid article claiming the Maz Kanata role had been greatly reduced because Lupita Nyong’o’s performance was poor, but everyone should be pleased to know that J.J. came out and said it was complete bullshit: http://www.starwarsnewsnet.com/2015/12/j-j-abrams-debunks-recent-rumors-about-lupita-nyongos-role-in-the-force-awakens.html

I imagine the B.S. levels are going to rise pretty high during these last two weeks.

It does indeed suck balls , surely Captain Solo or Chewwie should be flying it. Oh Yeah! watch this!

Phasma aka Game of Thrones Gwendoline Christie is well cast IMO In fact the casting on TFA is decent in comparison to that other trio of star wars related films.

Maybe this floating lightsaber in space at the beginning is in fact part of the new Disney “SW” logo which replaces the old 20th Century Fox one?
IDK, it may sound stupid but really, who knows?

Some new action figure packaging leaked today. There’s a wolfy looking dude who’s kind of reminiscent of the cantina wolfmen, but the more interesting one is this:

Looks like it could be the Greg Grunberg character, but what I’m stuck on is the name Snap Wexley. Aftermath followed Nora Wexley and her son Temmin. Could this be a relation? Or is Temmin going by “Snap” these days? Or is “Wexley” just the “Antilles” of the sequel era, a common name that doesn’t necessarily imply relation?

Nah, he’s definitely going to be related in some way.
Didn’t know his character name until now. Was hoping for Son of Porkins.

The quality of those figures look terrible.

I didn’t noticed this the first time I saw the video, but here’s Poe being lead into the hangar of Kylo/Hux’s Star Destroyer.

This was also really funny;

It’s kind of fun to see how this film really is being made by SW fans, both behind and in front of the cameras.
