Looks like Disney is really cracking down on sites showing that footage with Maz. They had been pretty cooperative up until this point.

Which is a little silly, given that all the footage shows is that she’s even oranger than the poster let on

AMAs stuff -

new TV spot: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YBTs9ceCqSc

Our first actual scene: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_jWb9Z2k20M&feature=share

There’s also a painfully lame acapella tribute to John Williams, but it didn’t reveal anything new. Harrison introduces it, though, so maybe watch that bit before turning it off. The scene is obviously the most interesting bit here. It’s cool to see all these shots that have been in most of the trailers and spots the way they’ll actually be cut together in the film. It seems a lot more fun and adventurous this way.

One more weird little thing. A variation of yesterday’s Nien Nunb spot surfaced today with one difference - instead of rolling up the wall of the Falcon’s corridor and then falling back down, he now shoots out some sort of grappling device and catches himself before he hits the ground: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oSOrqRr5qWU
If we didn’t know that the movie was already locked, I’d say they were trying to decide which shot to use based on the internet’s reaction.

Oy, how I hate seeing Star Wars associated with the soulless mainstream music industry. Where’s booze when I need some?

The background characters in Maz Kanata’s castle is apparently already getting they’re own Disney canon backstories.

This guy’s apparently called Captain Ithano according to the back of the book, and although they seem to go for a more OT kind of feel they’re not shying away from using the PT lore.

That woman we saw sitting on top of the large Thrandoshian looking guy is also going to get her own book and is called Bazine.

Constable Zuvio is already getting his own book;
http://www.starwarsnewsnet.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/JTTFA1.jpg
And these guys that we briefly saw in the B-roll footage from D23 is also getting a story (which looks really weird);
http://www.starwarsnewsnet.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/JTTFA4.jpg

It seems like the new Disney EU is going to give every single background character as much of a backstory as the old one did. Not that I really expected any less, but what I’m most curious about now is what they’ll do with the old background characters from the OT and PT. Will they eventually just re-write everything about Sy Snootles, Figrin D’an, etc, or will they just recycle the old stories.

Jimmy Kimmel is doing a TFA-themed episode tonight. The thing I read yesterday listed the guests as J.J., Daisy, John Boyega and Adam Driver, but I just saw a commercial that said Carrie and Harrison will be there too. I guess we’ll find out at 11:30. I wouldn’t be surprised to see another clip.

I’m blown away they are dropping so many clips and teaser spots. It feels like we have maybe seen as much as 7-10 minutes of actual movie when in actuality it’s probably more like 5-7 minutes.

Thoughts?

Furthermore, I recall reading a story that the terminally ill SW fan (Daniel Fleetwood) saw a nearly four hour cut of the unfinished film. I wonder how much of the little clips we are seeing are bits and pieces from moments that are not in the actual 2 hour 15 minute finished product.

That’s interesting, I haven’t heard the four hour thing anywhere. If that’s true, they must have shown him a much, much earlier cut, because I remember reading that the picture was locked shortly after they screened it for him. There’s no way they cut an hour and a half in a matter of a few days.

Here’s the clip isolated from all the acapella and J-Lo boobs: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cgaE4OPKaW8

And here’s a new image of Phasma from Empire magazine:

Right, exactly. Just a very early rough cut. But the cool thing about that is, he’s likely the only member of the general public that will ever get to see that which is unbelievably awesome.

I never saw any article that said Daniel Fleetwood saw a “4 hour” version of TFA. I saw he saw an unfinished version but never in any article did I see 4 hours. Perhaps you can link me to the source. I follow his wife’s fb page as well and never did she state that.

This is the source of that information (or more likely, misinformation). There’s no way there was a four hour ‘rough cut’ in October/November. Perhaps he got to see four hours of material including behind the scenes things and out-takes, bloopers, etc. I’m sure it made his day, whatever was shown.

My source was The Washington Post article linked right above me. If they were wrong, okay.

Anyway, saw this posting on Twitter this evening. TFA will apparently be PG-13:

You can’t show a breast for very long in a PG-13 film, buy you can chop one off with a lightsaber. 😉

^I’m interested to see a clearer image of the headgear the officers are wearing. It looks different than the caps we’ve seen. Or perhaps they’re the same, but with the bit around the back and sides pulled down?

Looks like it.
(They kind of remind me of Vader’s helmet seen from behind.)

I was also somewhat surprised by the lax security. You would think Poe was a high priority prisoner considering the whole massacre that we’ve seen take place in the trailers in order to capture him during his meeting with Max von Sydov (forgot the character name). You’d think they’d give him more than a one-man-escort to his cell.

I get the feeling that’s the beginning of the defection by Finn. Sort of an unauthorized prisoner transfer.

And here’s something really interesting. Empire Magazine gives us our first canonical map of the galaxy:

A few observations:
-Starkiller Base is indeed in the Unknown Regions
-Assuming the planets highlighted in red are all in the film, a world we’ve yet to hear anything about called Hosnian Prime will be featured. Could this be where Luke is?
-Jakku is much closer to the core than I think anyone expected
-Rakata Prime is canonical

Starkiller origin point is interesting. The movement of the Death Star was always pretty ambiguous (although I bet the EU explained it in great detail). What if Starkiller has light speed engines?

The story of the KOTOR games, or at least aspects of them, might be made canonical then. Cool.

Also, no Alderaan, not even “former position of Alderaan” or something like that. Do they want to draw attention away from it?

I remember hearing a rumor that KOTOR was getting a rerelease eventually with updated graphics and story tweaks to bring it in line with the new canon. I didn’t put much stock in it at the time, but this has me wondering if it’s true after all.

UGH, they kept the Unknown Regions as a giant blot that reaches right next to the Galactic Core. So DUMB.

I’ve always maintained that the Unknown Regions should have been one of the spiral arms of the galaxy. At least that would have made some sense.

Rattatak from the Tartakovsky clone wars is apparently canonical as well, unless they went there / it was mentioned in TCW or the NuEU and this isn’t noteworthy.

There are quite a number of confirmed canon planets not on the map, but it’s really surprising not to see Lothal on there, considering how much emphasis Lucasfilm has placed on Rebels.
