Star Wars Sound Effects Archive - A collection of SW sounds for use in Fan Edits (* unfinished project *) — Page 9

That's a bummer.  I hope your resources become available soon.  This project seems so useful.  Thanks for your work.

Mmmm.... I have to say I'm curious about why dialog from the LOTR franchise would be useful for a Star Wars sound archive.

Christopher Lee is Count Dooku. Anything with him can be used to cobble together new dialogue for him for cutaways. With middle earth dialogue often concerning 'great evil' etc, there's a wealth of great stuff in there already.

Exactly!  It's too late for me to use Lee dialogue, but other people could surely benefit from some alternate lines.

Well that would certainly be useful to fan editors, it would be pretty superfluous to other Star Wars fan projects like audio plays, fan films and games.

If it's that the kind of stuff that is holding up the release, I would humbly suggest creating a secondary archive for that kind of material. It would hopefully help to usher the release of the project as a whole. As well as save hard drive space for others who are only interested in Star Wars specific resources.

But of course this is entirely your project and so that's all up to you! =)

Well that particular resource isn't forthcoming anymore, so the only thing holding up this release is having a bunch of sounds from the KOTOR games that have to be converted one by one (no batch convert option unfortunately, due to the convoluted process I have to go through to get them into a useable format) and then there's all the sorting that needs to be done into the correct folders.

darth_ender has kindly offered to help with the latter, so once I'm at that stage, I may well take him up on it. :)

What might be worth checking is that Rebel Strike may have all the sounds and more from Rogue Leader.

I am not sure but it could be duped as the first game is included in the second game as 2 player experience.

So you may only need Rebel Strike sound files as a complete archive for both titles.

Yeah, I have a hell of a lot of duplicates already from the games I've ripped. It's part of the reason things are so chaotic - identifying duplicates and deleting the inferior ones is no easy task when you're dealing with thousands of files.

Indeed... I had a look at some of the other files on that channel, and there is some cool stuff there.

For one the "Sounds of Star Wars Book" For which I have a copy and the sound board is broken I actually bought it reduced so at least now I can get full value out of my discount purchase :)

Star Wars trench Run was interesting

And Star Wars Trilogy Arcade although lower quality, it had some unique sounds in there which I liked for both the Falcon & the Tie Fighters.

A lot of it is much of the same and personally I found those to be good and interesting and good quality.

I could not be bothered sitting listening through some of the others as nothing was really jumping out at me. But perhaps you can advise me otherwise.

I think the Rogue Leader series really has some great stuff in it though and I am so pleased they managed to extract them.

Yeah I have that book too. Recorded it by connecting it to the line-in jack on my soundcard.

These download links could have saved me some time had they been available 4 years ago (provided they're in adequate quality that is. Haven't checked yet).

As for the other sounds, yeah the Rogue Leader stuff does seem promising. There's not enough X Wing & Tie Fighter sounds out there in high quality, so those should be a great addition to the archive. Thanks!

I played the BattleFront Beta, I must admit the Sound Effects sound great, I plan on buying the game for my xbox one, and playing the game while recording the audio with a Digital 5.1 audio capture. I should be able to easily isolate sound effects...  The storm trooper standard blaster rifle reworked sound has the "punch" that I am looking for for my SW EP IV release....

Those who do no know, I am also working on Star Wars IV (Special Edition: that should have been..)

Here is a link with some details of this effort...

Sounds like a lot of unnecessary effort. Sound files are pretty easy to extract from PC games.

Yes and no. Older games are easier, but nowadays you often have to wait a long time for fanmade tools to appear that can unpack the games' proprietary archive files.

Is there a good place to find these tools? I've been wanting to rip the sounds of Pinball Arcade on iPad. They might use the same format on different platforms too.

I know that the FFShrine forums frequently has people ripping sound (mostly music) from games. I'm afraid I wouldn't know where to start in finding specific tools for iPad games.
