Ady: have you ever considered filming yourself as you work (ie a camera looking over your shoulder) and either selling or posting the clips as a teaching tool on how to edit?

Perhaps do live Twitch streaming, this would also be a way to raise funds through subscriptions/ donations.

Oh, this is a GREAT idea. I would absolutely subscribe to this to support adywan at least a little bit.

That tingles all kind of nerd nerves... :p

Apart from the 6.1 track, are there any other audio tracks being planned?

Ol’ George has the GOUT, I see.

I don't know if Ady is like this too, but I would be extremely uncomfortable with a camera or person watching over my shoulder while I work.  Especially if I knew it was going to elicit a number of, erm, helpful suggestions about my workflow.

They told me they’d fixed it!

It looks like Star Wars Revisited is now inadvertently official canon.  The new novels are all considered canon from Disney.  At the beginning of Smuggler's Run, Chewie is looking at his medal and puts in in his satchel as he gets his stuff together to leave Yavin IV.  As far at I know, Revisited is the only version available where Chewie receives a medal.

Apparently Chewie gets a medal in those re-tellings of the movies. I'm not sure what this means, canon-wise. But that's not the conversation for this thread.

Interesting point, though.

Star Tours also legitimized Ady's placement of the shield generator in relationship to the Hoth base from what I recall...

In the original Marvel comics Chewie got his medal later that evening with Leia standing on a chair because he was too tall.

Why he couldn't go down a few steps is bit of mystery.

I was more miffed that the droids didn't get medals when I was a kid.

1) comments can be closed on youtube and vimeo.

2) it's not about people being a backseat driver... it''s about showing people HOW to do things that Adobe Premiere aren't very user friendly about.  A lot of these programs it is just about knowing where the functions are and how to get around the lack of intuitiveness.

I wouldn't feel comfortable filming myself work either.

Also, it wouldn't be how he works in the NLE software (Which is Sony Vegas, not Adobe Premiere) that would interest people. What's defined Revisited has been the visual effects work, so it's his workflow in Adobe After Effects that would be cool to see. Actually cutting and moving footage around is extremely basic and would be boring to watch. Especially with Empire, which isn't being moved around at all.

I'm sure we can expect some VFX breakdowns accompanying the Blu Ray release, where we'd see layer after layer added with accompanying explanatory text, until we have the final shot.

If people do want to see instructional guides, sites like Videocopilot already have that pretty much covered.

That sucks about Facebook.  You could consider creating a yahoo group to notify people.  Get it up and running before Facebook shuts you down so you can let everyone know where you're going.

Yes that does suck. If I was on facebook I'd complain. It might be worth asking who this Star Wars person is and where he/she lives? ;-)

What about facebook?

Facebook has contacted Adywan and asked him to prove his real name is "Adywan Revisited" or they will shut down his page.

I get the feeling that they have been nudged by someone or something to do this and it sucks.

I was under the impression that Facebook revoked it's "real name policy" last year.

Shouldn't this be irrelevant since the page is set up as a page (intended for groups, companies, and other organizations) and not as a profile (intended for individuals)? I mean, if that's not the case, then did the admins of the official Star Wars page also have to prove the existence of someone whose name is legally Star Wars among their ranks?

It certainly smells like someone with an axe to grind is behind this. I see plenty of fake names on Facebook to begin with. Even I use a fake name there.

Maybe I should stop banning all those fake ID spammers so we could utilize their services just this once? ;)

Where were you in '77?

It was Adywan's public personal account that was causing problems ("Adywan Revisited"). This was not an attack on the SWR Page. This was FB doubting that "Revisited" is someone's last name.

My sister put her nickname "Pineapple" instead of her 21 letter hawaiian name on FB and went through this same thing a few months ago. I think it's random, and wouldn't get overly stressed about any devious reason behind it.

Preferred Saga:
1/2: Hal9000
3: L8wrtr
4/5: Adywan

A Special Feature though with storyboards and perhaps muted audio could make for some interesting special features about how the film was changed / altered before final cut.

Star Wars Revisited "Ben's Hut" was the best edit in a way because it was put back to how it was originally written and it turned out to be an improvement that was much better before it was interfered with and edited out of sequence.

Although Revisited was edited amazingly well, this really grabbed me about how much better the sequence was once it was put back. I am strictly talking about shots within a sequence not scene orders.

Hi Adywan

I apologise in advance for my question especially if it has already been answered somewhere else. I have been a huge fan of your work since I watched the Star Wars Revisited. Since, I got the Empire Color Corrected. But I cannot find the Empire Rvisited. I then started reading as much as I could, looking for an answer to this question but there is so much to read that I get a little confused : is it out or not and if yes where can it be found?
Once again I am a bit of a noob on the internet which is why I decided to ask you directly.
Also, I wonder, is there a mkv 720p version of Star Wars Revisited?
Million thanks for your kind help.

I'll try and help answer that for you, if I am wrong someone please correct me.

ESB:R Is not out yet. Star Wars Revisited is 720 x 576 on the DVD-9 release, which was the final release.

There is no MKV release for Star Wars Revisited as far as I am aware it is x-vid (avi), and DVD-5 and DVD-9.

If I'm not mistaken Ady said he was releasing an HD version to ANH:R after he completes ROTJ:R which will also bring back the red lenses for Vader's eyes.
