What if TFA is awful? — Page 2

It can't be worse than the prequels. A "perfect storm" like that probably won't be seen again in our lifetimes ;-)

It's a JJ movie, so as a base minimum I expect to be entertained for 2 hours. After the prequels, I'd honestly settle for just that. Anything beyond/above this will be a wonderful bonus.

At this point I want the blasted movie to just come out already, so I can know the exact quantity of rat scrotum that it inhales, rather than having to wonder about the amount.

My life has been much less stressful and annoying ever since I stopped reading anything online related to TFA.  The fact that I even clicked on this thread in the first place is an aberration.

I thought donkey scrotum was the standard by which suckitude was measured? ;)

Trust me, they can't sink any lower than Darth Vader's Big NO in ROTJ.

Ol’ George has the GOUT, I see.

 I want to trust you...

I really do.

What are the Verta rumors?

Basically, Mr. Verta said that his insiders working on TFA's effects department think it's not a good movie (and that they said the same of the prequels): after working on it for 3 months, they showed up "depressed", called it ILM (Incredibly Low Morale) and that it's not Star Wars, just another picture. Of course, as Mr. Verta said, they worked on the special effects, so maybe they didn't get the whole picture, who knows. Good to know their opinion too, though.

I have to wonder if the ILM pipeline is set up in such a way, that nobody is in a position to see more than one or two scenes of the movie?

And aren't they violating NDA's they must have signed even discussing it in vague terms?

Nothing can suck as much ass as that. Every time I hear it my life expectancy lowers by 2 week increments

You're implying that the movie is going to suck by default which is unknowable at this juncture.

If TFA's bad, it'll be just another bad movie with Star Wars in the title that I'll disregard and ignore -- no more than that and no less.

 It can be reasonably inferred.

In fact, any inference to the contrary would be an extraordinary implausibility.

I wonder if you hated Doc Oct's similar NOOOO!! in Spider-Man 2

Well... close enough?

Anyway about TFA, the story should be fine (as long as Kasdan is involved), the actors' performances won't let down being who they are.

My only concerns are all about its genre: if it's your usual Marvel-style blockbuster, I'm not interested, being to me basically the same movie over and over again since the first X-Men movie. Also Abrams: I admit I haven't seen any of his Star Trek movies, but his Mission Impossible 3 was bad enough to me that I'm just a little concerned that TFA will be another action-packed-special-full-of-special-effects-with-ridiculous-plot-twists movie, and... Mr. Verta's rumors about TFA make my concerns actually legit by now.

Guess I'll have to wait and see for myself :D

Ok we now go by hearsay where was Verta's comments posted and or whom said they heard them? Where?

If it was something said in private, it might be best to not discuss it further.

Verta seems like he's not open to anything outside the original films, unless he was the one to make them. Or a very narrow view of how they should be made. There are pigheaded fans who have a dogmatic narrow view of how SW should be.

So Vader should never.....ever scream out NOOOO!?

There's really nothing more than two teaser trailers to go on. Knowing how good TPM and the Prometheus trailers were it's evident that trailers aren't any type of indication as to the quality of the movie.

If TFA is awful, Darths & Droids will do it justice, and if it's good, then D&D will make it even better!

Mike said it in the Undressing Underground podcast he did. I respect the hell out of him and all, but he seems to hate everything that's not the original film by default. So I'm taking his inside info with a grain of salt.

Maybe the movie will be one on it's own that will set the base for the Disney run, I don't expect a true OT feeling since the OT was a product of it's time but at least I expect an attempt to pay respects to the OT. Also the script writers and the director are better than Lucas so at least it will be a more consistent film.

Worst case scenario: TFA will easily fall right above the PT, kinda sucky but entertaining .

Best case scenario: It will be better than RTOJ like Silverwook said.

Well at the worst I'll likely have another Red Letter Media video deconstructing it to look forward to.

And at best I'll have seen my first good/decent Star Wars film at the theatre.

I'm cool with either outcome.

What if? Well, for me, I'd simply tell the film to kiss my ass and go to hell and then forget about it and watch some real Star Wars... the original trilogy! BOOM!
