At the risk of sounding jaded, I'm a little suspicious that this came from comicbook.com again.

I've just made a deal that'll keep Empire out of here forever.

So, a new book came out and we learned so much, and it is called, “Anguilosaurus, Killer of the Living”.

I met John Landis, He's a nice guy. I wen't to a screening of American Werewolf in London where he was releasing / signing his new book. "Monsters in the Movies"

I don't think it's something he would make up, so he knows something, and has shared it and he's obviously excited about it too.

A Very Warm person is John Landis.

I see the usual suspects showed up throw cold water on that tweet. Their heads are going to off like in Scanners if it turns out to be true. ;)

Must remain doubtful till official confirmation, which if it happens I and many others will be ecstatic.

And if it turns out to be true, I'm really hoping for a new scan and transfer that blows away the Blu-ray by a long shot.

I was going to brush it off and say it's just John Landis, what does he know... but  then I read the following tweet.

Apparently George mentioned it when last they spoke. Somebody put Yub Nub on. Let the celebrations commence!

That he mentioned Lucas is VERY interesting, to say the least.

I personally have no doubt Disney's going to do it, it's just a question of when.

How would John Landis know?

I wonder if Mike Verta's restoration has anything to do with this. I hope so!

Those comments are aggravating.
"I don't know how the old versions will hold up..."
I really don't understand people who think this way about things. As if everything has to be new, or contain something new to be relevant or even good.
And the comments about the 2004 bonus discs... How can anyone watch those and think they look ok? Are people really so stupid that they believe that's as good as a film from the 70's/80's can look? I really don't understand that.

While I would never call Landis a "nice guy" (especially after the Twilight Zone incident) but I really hope he's correct.

Imagine if Landis meant Disney are going to re-release the original cuts on the BIG screen, but won't put 'em out on blu-ray, lol.  ;)

Mistakes happen, and a most unfortunate mistake it was. But that does not make John Landis "not" a nice person.

He's probably had a very upsetting time over it himself, considering it also destroyed his directing career temporarily and no doubt he must have felt very guilty for what happened. But it's a mistake and not an evil deed. There is no way he wanted for that stuff to happen.

And there are many others involved in a production, it was not "all" his fault either.

I am standing by my comment that I thought he was a "warm" person.

Imagine if they're going straight to Netflix.

If this is true, I really hope they don't arbitrarily hold off on releasing it so that it coincides with the 40th anniversary in two years. If it takes that long to do it right, fine, do as good a job as you can, but if it's ready to go sooner than that, then for the love of God don't toy with me anymore.

I really hope Landis is the way we find out.

I find this very hard to believe. Not getting my hopes up.

Didn't we hear a similar rumor out of comic con a couple of years ago that lead to nothing? I feel like, when the announcement finally does come, it will be extremely clear, probably in the form of a trailer or livestreamed press event.

Beats me, I've never seen it.  But why would you think of that before Animal House or Blues Brothers?  Or even Three Amigos or Coming to America?
