I think I know why Spider is mad you can tell from the postings

Rikter also took 17 days to get them

Spider I fixed the lock up problem from the edit parts of the movie where the LDs get flipped. Before I was editting with MPEG2VCR and join the files back to make one big file. This was a problem with old DVD players about six or so years. This is how I fixed the problem with my Panasonic E80. I first recorder to the hard drive. I can record to DVD-RAM but have read that at the end of the disc the bitrate may drop to keep with the time settings. So i record to the hard drive first. Then dubbed to DVD-RAM there is no recoding going from hard drive to DVD-RAM. DVD-RAM or if you have a recorder that uses DVD-RW they use a VRO file. Ever thing is in one file system. I then went to the DVD-RAM and editted out the laserDisc flips. It deletes that part of the file you do not want. Then took it back to the PC and use MPEF2VCR and "DeMultiplexer" the file. Reason for doing this you can not play back the file right after delete after you do any thing to the VRO file. You also have to do this if you record in FR mode if you have two or more rcordings in the VRO file. Then I "Multipexer" the file to together. "DeMultiplexer" what it does it split the Video and audio into two files and "Multipexer" put the two files back together. There is a small light pause in the flips. But this copy will play in any DVD player that can play DVD-R. Also when the package was late I gave out two extra DVD's to make up for being late.

The guy try to make up for being later. Now if the guy was on time you would only get three dvd now hes running late now he gave out five DVDs.

Like I said before Star Wars fans on the rag LOL

If he was willing to spend more time and make them better, why didn't he spend an extra buck to put them in paper sleeves, or at least separate them from each other before mailing them? They were all scratched and almost unreadable - changes and all. Does that make sense?

Wait... isn't this the set which Spider called "the best Star Wars DVDs ever"?? Why is he re-editing it then?? I guess you can't make them better than THE BEST... you CAN try, but then you're just like George Lucas...

THIS THREAD WAS FOR FEEDBACK for the set and I only started it as a favor for the Spider - Instead it has turned into this endless crap. I HAVE posted NO ILL toward Spider in this tread or others and yet this thread as turned into a "poor little spider" thread.

- I have this set and I have chosen NOT to post a reveiw of this set as to avoid any needless backlash from Spider. BUT I have mailed a set to Hal 9000 and I hope that he will be able to post a review of the set after the Thanksgiving.

Until then - PLEASE STOP posting anymore "poor little spider" posts! PLEASE NO POSTS unless they are DIRECT FEEDBACK to this DVD set.

And to Spider, This thread COULD have worked in your favor but yet you insist on shitting all over this forum and it's members.

I was going to ship the next day but found out about the lock up on some DVD players. I did not want to send a set that would not work on some DVD players. There are old DVD players that do not like it when MPEG 2 files are join together. I did not think it would take a week to find a fix but I was able to find a fix until I start to edit with DVD-RAM. I try to make up for being late. If there is any problem with the DVDs I can replace them for free. And I can also make up for it with a redit version of "Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi" redit from the real Star Wars DVDs. I will send the DVD set out to one person after that if you want to upload them go head I do not care. I'm sorry the Dics got messed up.

Hello

I have this set and I have chosen NOT to post a reveiw of this set as to avoid any needless backlash from Spider.

Would you be willing to reconsider? I have been going thru all the threads and have come to appreciate your thoughts and reviews on the films. It is not that I doubt Hal 9000 will do a fine review job, I look forward to it, but your input has been the bedrock in OT reviews.

Please reconsider.

Cheers!

So... does Rikter still want a review posted? I'd be more than happy to do it for him.

But if not, here's a brief run-down of how this set measures up:

It really is not that great of a Trilogy set. It looks like it was captured from an older, low-end laserdisc player. There are also many new video artifacts in it from the transfer process.
The picture is not very sharp, looking almost blurred when compared with the TR47 set. Whenever there is motion present in a shot (especially gradual motion over the whole frame, such as smoke or slow camera sliding) it tends to pixelate. This happens mostly in ANH, some in ROTJ, but not nearly as badly in ESB. ESB looks to have the best picture quality of the three. In the TR47 set, whenever something such as Darth Vader's lightsaber is in frame it has vertical lines across it probably from the transfer process. The Spider set does not have this problem and looks great in that respect. But whenever you run into a part where you would have to flip or change the LD, there is about one second of blank screen. This is very minor, since this only happens three times per film and is not distracting. It does not, however, have the same glitch as the TR47's four seconds of blank screen before Leia welding. I think with a better LD player for output, it could have been a lot better.
About the same goes for the audio. The audio isn't particularly *bad*, but it isn't good. It is quieter than the TR47 set and lacks the detail. It really leave something to be desired.
This set contains simplitive menus. A still background of a concept drawing. There are also chapter selection menus with thumbnails. The placement of the chapter stops seems random and not matched up to anything significant.

All in all, I would not reccomend this DVD set. The TR47 is much better, albiet without any sort of menu.
I suppose if I ever wanted to let anyone BORROW my Star Wars DVDs, I'd loan them my Spider set.

(IF anybody knows a good FREE program that I can take screenshots with, I'd be happy to post comparison shots with.)

My stance on revising fan edits.

Thanks for the review! - VERY unbiased and I'm grateful that you did it!

After I watched the set I figured I'd better not be the one to do it as I can be kinda blunt sometimes

How do I take screenshots?
Load a VOB file into VDubMod, select video->copy source frame to clipboard, open MS Paint or Photoshop and paste in the image.
I prefer to save as PNG (lossless), but if you save from Photoshop as JPG use a high quality setting.

EDIT:: Sorry, dupe post!

Right, thanks.

I'll try to post some screencaps. If not tonight, then tomorrow.
I'll be sure to get the "vertical saber lines" I spoke of in a screencap as well.

Ok I've got it to play the flim... but how do I fast forward?

"As you can see, the Spider set has less detail and vibrant color."

That also looks like a problem with the 2-3 pulldown. I wonder how his DVD recorder deals with that? I would presume it's copying that effect straight off the laserdisc.

"This shot shows an example of those "vertical lines" that appear sometimes on the TR47 set."

Well, they are not quite the same scene (althought second one is.) Are you referring to the "stair-step" effect in Vader's lightsaber?

I'm afraid to disagree, although the TR47 set has a sharper pic their is more detail in the spider caps. Look closely at the lights on the chasm behind luke and vader.
