Would you want to see Anakin or Obi Wan in the new trilogy, portrayed by their PT actors?

Maybe it wouldn't make too much sense, considering the whole 'what age you look as a ghost' thing got skewed in subsequent SE releases, but even as someone who didn't care at all for the prequels, I really want to see Haden and Ewan portray their characters with actual good dialouge to boot.

The Force Awakens likely isn't going to experiment with this idea, but maybe in the next two films of the trilogy, one of the directors might toy with the idea of drawing back to themes and ideas from the prequels. Not to remind us of the dissapointment, but maybe to make up for some of their faults.

I wouldn't want it either. I'd be happy to see Ewan in one of the anthology films, but not the main trilogy.

I quite like Ewan McGregor, so I wouldn't mind him showing up in some capacity in the anthology (non-PT) films. But I think it'd be a bit bathetic in dramatic terms for Luke to still be having daily chats with Ben and Yoda.

“That Darth Vader, man. Sure does love eating Jedi.”

No because 1) Those characters are both dead, 2) They would monopolize the story focus, and 3) The less that carries over from the PT the better.

I would love to see Luke talking to his Father. As well as seeing Obi-wan and Anakin together again.

Being dead isn't a obstacle if you've made it as a Force Ghost, but even the first post ROTJ EU novel had Obi Wan finally saying goodbye to Luke, having lingered too long.

Obi Wan might have left a hologram behind for Luke, but Anakin probably never did such a thing.

And let us hope Artoo wiped any mushy love letters he was forced to deliver to Padme. ;)

If Mr. McGregor wants to appear in one of the Anthology films, I'm all for it; he's one of the better parts of the PT, anyway.

As for Hayden -- NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't want to see his dopey mug associated with a live-action Anakin Skywalker ever again.

Would anybody like to see that annoyingly missing movie between AOTC and ROTS, where we actually would have seen Ben and Anakin's friendship and seen all the stuff that Alec Guinness aludes to in SW.

I kinda wouldn't mind that. Like is said above, give both actors a fair chance at playing the characters with good dialogue, a good story and good direction.

I think it would be really interesting as far as what could have been. Not sure where it would fit in with the Clone Wars show, which they've kept canon.

Since the last time I've seen anything from Hayden was 10 years ago, I had to look him up to see what he looks like now. Hasn't aged much.

I think I've seen most of his post ROTS resume at this point. (The things I do for Frink!) He's aged pretty well. And he's a better actor than the prequels allowed him to be.

I'm surprised he hasn't been asked by the press whether he would want to come back yet.

I would've liked to see an Aeneid-like "descent into hell" with Luke talking with his father about his destiny, but I'm not sure about Anakin and Obi-wan being portrayed by their PT actors. Well, it really depends on how they officially appeared as ghosts in ROTJ, and still you have Obi-wan as Alec Guinnes, not as Ewan McGregor, so that's confusing... :D

Hoping and expecting that Force ghosts won't be a thing. Bringing back Obi-Wan or Anakin would be a big mistake, especially with the PT actors.

Bringing Ewan back as a Force Ghost would make no sense, and would cause a massive disconnect with the audience (Why is he flip-flopping between young and old forms?)

Hayden Christensen only makes sense if the SE is your go to version. Just no.

Regardless, there's no need for the Ghosts of Prequel Past to appear when the new protagonists have no familiarity with them.

They could put old age makeup on Ewan, if they really wanted to have him in this.

As much as I hate the idea of Christiansen in the ST, I would love to see Luke talk to a force-ghost Anakin at some point.

That's the idea I was getting at with this thread. Really only one scene with that premise would suffice.

Chewie as The Fonz is awesome!

I would have no problem with it as long as they take it seriously. Ewan is great, he'd nail it. I'd be ok with Christianson as long as they did some voice coaching and make-up to get him looking and sounding more like Shaw at the end of Jedi.

On the other hand, Luke is old and wise by now and shouldn't really need guidance, so his force ghost buddies could be off playing shuffleboard in Jedi Afterlife too.

They'd have to explain why he sounded like an American brat in the PT and an English gentleman at the end of Jedi...
Putting anything PT into the ST would be a grave mistake.
But I'm sure that won't stop 'em.

Sounds like something that would be perfect in an uber-bizarre, Lynchian surrealist film. In a conventional movie, though, not so much ...
