Some parts kind of look like a matte painting... I like it.

And a super huge version of that shot...

Interesting that they cut out the snap zoom on that trailer after the negative feedback on it. :)
They just cut away, doesn't mean the snap zoom won't be in the movie. That's an IMAX sequence.
Am I the only one who thinks that the guy standing up front looks like general Hux? He seems to have the same reddish hair colour and he's wearing the same jacket. The ears also look kind of similar.
Also, as have been pointed out before, the First Order seems to be much more diverse than the Empire was. I assume that the person with the metal helmet is Phasma, which we already know is a woman. And on her right, standing in the back is a black man dressed in the same outfit. That's quite a big change from the all white British-talking males of the Empire in the OT. I assume this is something they borrowed from the EU which also had the Empire turn more diverse after the events of ROTJ.

That is definitely General Hux. Nice to see redheads aren't extinct in the Star Wars universe. :-) Anyway, in the newest shot we see all the troopers facing him, but in the second teaser, they quickly turn around. I wondering why they turn around. Are they going to march to war or are they turning to look at something?
Also, I'm not sure if this has been pointed out already, but one of these shots in the second teaser has been flipped. You'll notice the scar on Ridley's cheek switches sides. For what it's worth...
Scar on her cheek? Huh, that's cool. Very Harrison Ford.
“That Darth Vader, man. Sure does love eating Jedi.”
Looking at other photos of her, the scar is on her right cheek. Therefore, the bottom shot was flipped for some reason.

I think they went overboard with Threepio's arm. If it had just been his hand or a finger or a shoulder or something it would have been an interesting new quirk.
But the entire arm is a big distraction. If it was a smaller part it would make sense that they never got around to replacing the temporary spare but that arm just screams replace me.

While this isn't something I really have strong opinions on, it seems to depend on the lighting and grading. Promotional shots look very red, while the behind the scenes doc, from what I recall, stood out less as it was fairly dark.
Anyway, we've yet to see what they even have to say about the arm in the film. If it's just scrap or means something more, etc. Or maybe the point is that it's supposed to scream 'replace me', and they haven't.
I'm assuming it's an ID sort of change. Several of the First Order troopers and ships have an asymmetrical red accent somewhere. If he were being used by the First Order, it would make sense that he was branded in a similar fashion as the other equipment. He's just a walking computer.
So is "Ren" the new "Sith"? I hope that wasn't to avoid using the term Sith, since the name did exist long before the prequels.
Hm...

Anyway; anyone have a thought on this?
It looks like it's the same object, and in the Look and Find picture it looks like some kind of large droid dog.
At least we now know that this isn't a droid. It seems like some kind of armoured lizard creature, kind of similar to a Dewback.
The guy riding it also looks kind of familiar, have we seen him before in any production images? Or did he exist in the SW universe before TFA?

Yeah. Perhaps it will be a big deal if/when he gets returned and un-branded. Maybe he's undercover.
"Princess Leia (Fisher) has come into possession of the lightsaber once possessed by her father, Darth Vader, and later lost by Luke (Hamill) when Vader separated him from his arm during that “join me” duel in The Empire Strikes Back."
So this is a confirmation of the lightsaber being recovered when Luke lost his hand and his fathers light saber given to him by Obi-Wan.
If it's not the object that falls when Luke falls out the hatch possibly recovered by Ugnaughts living below then I wonder if it was recovered from the bottom of the large round shaft?
I wonder if they will let us know where it was recovered from?

Hm...
Kylo Ren isn't his real name, but rather a title. He also isn’t a Sith. He’s a member of an organization known as “The Knights Of Ren" and he is allied with the First Order. Also, his lightsaber isn't a relic - it is something he put together himself.
While the term "Sith" did exist before the PT, I don't believe it was formally used in the OT. It seems like TFA is going back to the roots of the series.

Although the word Sith was never specifically used in the actual moved, it was a part of the official canon back when they were making the movies.
"Two metres tall. Bipedal. Flowing black robes trailing from the figure and a face forever masked by a functional if bizarre black metal breath screen - a Dark Lord of the Sith was an awesome, threatening shape as it strode through the corridors of the rebel ship."
- p. 11 of the SW novelization from 1976.
"Towering above them in his black cloak and concealing black headgear, Darth Vader, Dark Lord of the Sith, entered the main control deck, and the men around him fell silent."
- p. 42 of the ESB novelization from 1980.
"...and finally Darth Vader, Lord of the Sith, emerged from the void."
- p. 4 of the ROTJ novelization in 1983.
This is how Vader was introduced in all of the three original novelizations. Always a variation of the same phrase; "Dark Lord of the Sith."

I assume "The Knights of Stimpy" was already under trademark somewhere in the GFFA. ;)

Or maybe Threepio just got on the wrong side of a Wookiee during a chess game. ;P

You totally missed the point of my post. I read the article, I know it's not his real name/it's a title. My point was about the behind-the-scene reasoning of that, if Abrams is avoiding using the word "Sith"/making "Darth" a title, so he created "Ren" instead.

My bad. I know they've pushing the "this won't be like the prequels" angle, but I doubt they would go that far to avoid using that term since the term existed before the PT and I'm sure Abrams and Kasdan know that. But since Kylo Ren isn't a Sith, then it would be appropriate to not call him a Sith.

Did the novels ever go into any detail about the Sith?
EW says they're going to have more articles tomorrow. Apparently about Han Solo, this time.
