Making Star Wars has another photo of the jacket that shows a Rebel/Resistance insignia on the shoulder:
Remember these leaked photos? Looks like these guys and presumably
Gwendoline Christie are wearing that jacket or something very similar. Adam Driver (or someone who looks like him) was wearing a X-wing pilot uniform from the same set of photos.

My guess is he's from the Alliance: it may be in uniform, but he's definitely not frightening :D Just look at your face, Miles!
The Brownshirts weren't all that frightening, either.
;-P
I know, but if they're going to show "Miles" as an Order officer, viewers are just going to take it with a large smile, he's not a believable villain :D
Or, who knows, maybe he's actually an Alliance spy!

This new uniform and especially Hux's overcoat in the SDCC stills have a real early 20th century European vibe. It's an interesting look that I don't think we've really seen before.
It is very John Mollo, though.
“That Darth Vader, man. Sure does love eating Jedi.”
Certainly more so than their awful Jakku costumes. They really need to go back and study SW for their civilian costume designs. That's one area where the EU always got it right. Killian Plunkett knows what's up.
It's pretty clearly an Alliance uniform just by looking at it. It exists in the lineage of these guys:
and these guys:

Etc. Even the insignia is very reminiscent of the ANH/ESB rank insignias.
I've always hated the ROTJ design retcon that resulted in these uniforms:
They just look so much faker.

YES. He's kind of my unsung hero of the OT; McQuarrie has finally gotten all the love he's deserved over the years, but Mollo's work is still overlooked. Even on Rebels they're going with Rodis-Jamero's far inferior (IMO) designs for the nascent Alliance uniforms.

Yeah, the Jakku stuff just looks like extras from any generic '80s post-apocalyptic movie you'd care to name; Mad Max, Yor, Spacehunter, Alien from L.A., etc. Just kind of uninspired.

Design retcon? *scratcheshead*
Yeah, I don't see any retcon going on. Different factions of the Rebellion had varying designs of uniforms.
The costumes in Jedi do look cheap compared to SW and Empire though.
Actually, much of Jedi looks cheap compared to SW and Empire...
That's 'cause ROTJ in its entirety is cheap compared to SW and TESB. =P
Of course, Luke's all-black outfit will always be my favourite of his on-screen costumes.
I agree. The green lightsaber contrasting with the black outfit looks great.
I guess I meant in eu. They show the early alliance in ROTJ uniforms instead of anh or esb style.
I wonder if there will be licensed replicas of this eventually.
Where were you in '77?

Have the copper parts corroded that much now?
Are there any rumors as to why Lando won't appear in TFA or if his absence is explained?
It is weird that he's missing. He seemed to be working his way up the ranks of the rebellion in Jedi and I'm sure his part in the DS2 battle earned him even more credentials.
At least old Ackbar is still limping around to once again inform us that "It's a trap." *rollseyes
I'm thinking they might save him for the sequel. Don't want to put all the cats in one bag or whatever the phrase is.
Seems odd that they would ask Denis Lawson to return (even if it's a cameo) and not Billy Dee Williams. If he was asked and declined, that would be one thing... but he wasn't even asked to be in TFA. I have a feeling Lando died sometime after the events in ROTJ.
Presuming everyone is telling the truth when the media asks "are you going to be in the movie?"
IIRC, Leonard Nimoy's appearance in STID was kept under wraps. And these days, you can shoot a simple scene just about anywhere you can set up a green screen.

They've been using Billy Dee to good effect on Rebels. So he's still in like flynn with Lucasfilm.
It seemed like they were wrangling in people who stopped by Skywalker to record for something else and wrote them in to some episodes.
Apparently no one read this regarding Lando from Lawrence Kasdan.

Right now, there’s no Lando Calrissian in this movie [The Force Awakens]. But Lando I don’t think is finished in any way, shape, or form.
This doesn't sound very hopeful.
Seriously guys, how many characters do you expect to see just in TFA? Most of them are probably cameos (hopefully: I don't want another charcters-fest like in the PT). Lando should just be in its sequels as a main character, like in ESB and ROTJ.
