Interstellar.

Okay I am a huge Nolan fan and I defended both The Dark Knight Rises and Man of Steel.  I also believe Person of Interest is one of the best TV shows ever made, so please remember that.

By the way, Nolan is not the reason for Man of Steel's suckage, that's a Zack Snyder film. And Person of Interest is Jonathan Nolan, not Christopher.

Yeah I know but he co-wrote this movie and I think you can tell in places.  I may not like the design of the robot but the way they are treated where people are used to dealing with them but are not sure where they count as people or not without making a huge deal about it seems to continue exploring some of the ideas from Person of Interest.  I like that part of the movie too.

I really liked Man of Steel and I think a lot of the complaints against it seem to come from people who missed the point of the film.  I think the only real problem with it is that like most movies these days about half an hour could have been cut from it and it would have been better paced.

Terminator 2 (1991): Hands of Fate (2013)

Terminator 2 is a masterpiece, one of the greatest sequels ever, and one of the few movies I'm willing to rewatch these days.  This time I watched an updated HD version of ThrowgnCpr's fanedit, which creates a hybrid of the Theatrical and the SE, and removes the cheesy "humor." You can read more about it here and my review here.

[Rec]4: Apocalypse (2014)

Ugh, what a letdown.  The first two [Rec] movies were fantastic, and the third was surprising fun.  This one would have been decent (but ultimately forgettable) as a standalone zombie-on-a-boat movie, but as a [Rec] movie it's just a massive disappointment.

Gravity

When I first heard this movie's hype I figured it would turn out to be either over long and full of it's self or all special effects and no heart like Avatar.

I was pleasantly surprised to find this may be the most intense movie I have ever seen and it was made but someone who knows just how long to make a movie and not spend too long on any one scene.  It also doesn't feature any of the scenes that have become clichés of disaster in space movies since Marooned.  It all takes place from one character's POV and the camera movements are so smooth and perfect that none of the scene seem to end, the whole movie seems to be one long intense scene and yet it never feel like a gimmick it just beautiful like early cinemascope movies.  It feels like classic Hollywood and cutting edge at the same time.  Two actors are able to carry the movie and you really care about them.  Bulluck's character is done perfectly, she isn't untrained or stupid she is just in trouble and needs help some times because this is her first time in space.  I don't want to give away spoilers because one thing I love is that it was not the movie I expected and it surprised me at every turn and I don't want to wreck it for anyone who has not seen it.

I will just say that this is the only movie I have ever wished I had seen in Imax 3D because it seems like it would be even better in that format.  I also love the fact that despite the fact that in the movie space is trying to kill our heroes this movie takes time to show the beuty of space and even the danger scenes make space look amazing.  This movie is brilliant and it may be in my top twenty films of all time.  It is the best film of the best couple of decades.

Oh and is it wrong that despite not being a big Clooney fan thanks to one scene in this movie I now want to see a movie where he plays a cocky space pirate who is always in over his head but gets out of trouble any way?  I want to see him play another character in space like this guy.

15/10!

Damn! looks like somebody beat me too it!
I've had an edit I made of T2 setting on my hard drive for two years and my intentions are the same as Hands Of Fate. Been waiting to update my edit in HD using TeamBlu's version before releasing it.
I'm curious to see how similar and how different they are. Looks like he kept more in than I did.

What does TeamBlu's version have that you would be using?

It's just a great looking version from the screen shots I've seen (still haven't got it myself). Correct aspect ratio and the collars are fixed. That kinda thing.
But I don't know if they've done anything with the deleted/SE scenes. I could do with out them, but I like some of em.

Eh.  I generally don't care about color correction, but what's this aspect ratio business? Skynet Blu looks fine to me.

      MAD MAX: FURY ROAD

I went in with some concern, highway chase scenes having been done to death.

Wow! I was fully engaged, enveloped, from start to finish.

It's almost entirely pedal-to-the-metal, yet it surpasses the earlier installments for developing It's fantasy epic saga. I'm a fan of RW and MM:BTD, but this easily takes first place.

The entire cast was perfect, FX and stunts were fantastic, camera-work was beautiful.

This film is a bit like the terribly underappreciated DREDD, in that it is more the story arc of the female lead. Max has an arc and plenty of screentime as well, but he also provides our POV to the larger story.

I do hope this does well enough to carry on the saga.

Well, that's a start. A paragraph consists of one or more sentences, depending on how much you wish to expound on whatever or whomever the topic of discussion is. A paragraph can have a bit of a structure, almost like three Acts, or the set-up-set-up-punchline of comedy. If you feel like you've learned anything valuable, feel free to punch the person closest to you.

That was a paragraph. It was dumb, I admit.

Sounds like the birth went well then.

I'm amazed at the amount of people who never mention Mad Max when talking about the series... It's all about RW and BTD for most it seems.

It's so different stylistically, most people don't seem to notice it's a Mad Max movie.  Never mind the title.

The Babadook (2014)

Amazing film.  Great story, great performances (see George, kids can act if you find the right one, give them reasonable dialogue, and bother to direct them), and fantastic sound design.  I cannot wait to get the Blu-ray and listen to the 5.1 in all its glory.

This film spoke to me personally on several levels, and that doesn't even account for the horror part of the movie.

I can remember beginning to watch MM on at least 2 different occasions, but not getting very far in for one reason or t'other.
