Secret Cinema - Empire Strikes Back in London

I've been to two SC events in the past (Blade Runner and Lawrence of Arabia) and I can assure everyone that the steep price will be worth every penny. It will be like being inside ESB.

My best guess is they'll turn the biggest ice-rink in London into the Hoth rebel base, complete with fullscale spaceships, med bays, ops centers and a full compliment of rebel personnel plus lookalike actors for all the main cast. Every conceivable prop detail and set decoration will gone into to match ESB.

You'll probably get an hour to wonder round, buy some blue milk, play 3D chess and listen to Max Reebo's band. Then the whole place will suddenly be stormed by the Empire/Darth Vader and you plus the rest of the ticket-holders will be evacuated onto a transport, and then be shown ESB as an "In flight" movie.

That's ^ the kind of experience these guys put on (But only my guess based on previous experience).

Ah sorry but they went on sale today....And they are selling fast...Merge if you like or can...

Cheers Ryan, Sounds like great fun and seeing as It's one of my much loved films I just knabbed myself a ticket to go with a few friends.

Don't tell anybody though :)

Now you tell me Blade Runner has been and gone... God Damn it, I can imagine that would have been pretty cool. people walking around with fluorescent umbrellas and Chinese people with pointy hats on bicycles?

men?.... Police men?....

^ Yes all that stuff. Snake dancers, Cocktails at Taffy-Lewis' Bar, Blade Runners chasing Replicants around etc

Latest email from SC said this...

"This Summer, Secret Cinema are taking an intergalactic voyage through space and time.

Explore breathtaking new worlds as you move through Star Wars: A New Hope towards a presentation of Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back.

Move quickly. To secure your travel dates"

Sounds like they will be re-enacting ANH in someway and then you watch ESB at the end to see what happens next?

If that's the case, then I'd guess you'll get to hang out in Mos Eisley.

Has anyone asked if it's the Original Theatrical or Special Edition that will be shown?

^Ladies and gentlemen, I would just like to call for a small hush, a pause, a gentle intake of breath before you all freak out and dance like loonies at the return of the Moth3r!

Nice to see you posting.

They are showing a picture of SE Tatooine on their Facespace page so I wouldn't expect any surprises.

Does that image conform to the 97se or the 2004/2011se in terms of colors?

I had some emails about this Rebel X... It's basically a member sign up if you are going to the secret cinema event.

The promotional member sign up has bit's of info on it. And funnily enough it said something about look to the skies on this night at these co-ordinates.

This was to advertise a projection of the rebel x logo on to a building that could host the event.

Funnily enough I am going to work at one of the possible venues tomorrow for the first time and immediately recognized the image of the rebel x logo on the building I will be going to tomorrow.

So it could be at the Old Truman Brewery, Brick Lane, London.

Has the Location been confirmed?

Latest SC email included this image of a Rebel transport hanging over The Palace of Westminster like a WWII Zeppelin...

...very cool!

For my birthday, my brother got us tickets to Secret Cinema - Star Wars!

Just got my first communication from the Rebel underground and have joined the covert network. This is fun already!

I wanted to go to the DJ Yoda gig on Monday but I was feeling a bit tired, and I saw him years go (8 years ago perhaps) getting a bit old for night clubbing these days :)

I am going to sign up to that later today... It says you need to register so I assume the location will be revealed through this once you register and join this group which I have not bothered to do yet.

Well that was pretty damned awesome! I can't really say to much without giving anything away (It's supposed to be secret afterall). But it was like being "inside" the original Star Wars movie... and a good chunk of ESB too. If you can get there and are willing to pay the steep ticket price do not miss out on this people.

 Did you go last night?

or on Friday?

:)

I ended up boycotting the film half way through just to be in a certain bar

Saturday.

Did you go back for the rest of the film? If not you missed the Vader and Luke "show".

Damn. It was a rocky ride on that inbound flight to Tatooine right? ;-)

I had a great time and we figured we would be missing something but the bar was just too tempting :)

I have a few suspicions about a certain video I saw though and perhaps a certain person here might have been involved with.

call it a hunch :)

There were clips from The Ridiculous Menace, weren't there. I knew Team Olie was up to no good.

Secret Cinema uploaded a new "Teaser trailer"...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vz9pOrim_08

...it shows a lot more small glimpses of what goes on in the show than previous videos, so be warned if you don't want spoilers.

Less than a month left now and there's a rockin' new poster...

...coverage from CBS (Which shows quite a bit, so beware spoilers!)...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ibWBe4gC6cU

^ FYI: That CBS report mentions SC:SW is coming to a secret-city somewhere in the US within the next 6 months. I like that the CBS report doesn't show you what happens in the finale of the show, just the gleeful "I'm reliving my childhood" faces of the crowd who are seeing the finale...
