NOTE : There is some color correction. The final version will have stabilization, and also some grain reduction, and flicker removal on it.

Wow, so nice. Obi-Wan looks great already, and once the flesh tones are fully corrected to get rid of the reddish tint, it's going to be super nice. :) Excellent work to the team, thanks! :)

The Star Wars trilogy. There can be only one.

Good thing about that flicker removal, because goodness, you don't realize how much there is until you watch about four straight minutes of it.

I really like the crispness of the sound.

at any rate, still looks better than the blu ray.

Thanks for the comments, however almost anything looks better than the blu-ray, so thats not saying much. We will need it to look a lot better than that.

Guys, this work is absolutely incredible. Props to you.

I know you aren't planning on making your 4k files available, but is there any chance we could see a 1440p release for those of us with UHD TVs?

Also, I know the forum rules prohibit asking for links, how does one go about getting on my spleen? Can't seem to get on, it wants something?

Hey Team Neg1

Is there anyway to download your clip as the playback is really choppy. On my pc anyway.

Thanks

With Dailymotion, I recommend making an account and upgrading to the newer beta player. Then let the video load all the way through.

That being said, it would be great to see a clip without all that nasty compression. I bet there is a lot of detail there--I've certainly seen it in screencaps posted earlier in this thread--but it's difficult to see streaming and through all those artifacts.

We are only planning a HD 1080p release, as thats the most popular format. Vimeo might have had downloads, but it takes a long time to post files there. We are only showing these previews in streaming to give an idea of what it will look like. Dailymotion is a lot more convenient for us.

There could be a future clip to post, but it would be a lot shorter, maybe a few seconds long.

Looks really great except when Darth is fighting Obiwan, the darker areas look greener than they should.

Like they said, these are temporary colors ;)

From what I know, yes, they are. If I remember right even harmy's excellent work had that tint to the death star. It's even got a more greenish tint in some shots. I think mvertaentioned it over in the legacy thread at some point

It's definitely supposed to be there, just not so crazy green as it is in these clips.  More of a blue-with-some-green-in-it.

 Completely agree.  Looks amazing.

I understand those are temporary colors, but I wonder if the Death Star's walls are actually supposed to share the same teal-like color.

If so, why the duel's shots look much more green than the others? It seems to me that either the presence of light makes them more blue, or the duel's shots have a different color grading. Could it be?

Does anybody else have problems with dailymotion? All the videos I tried in the last days start playing at 240p, when I go full screen they switch to 480p, then I manually switch to 1080p and I get 720p, so I have to switch AGAIN to 1080p. And when I switch back from fullscreen to browser window the player automatically changes to 480p :( Anybody else having the same problem or is it just a problem on my side?

Thanks for the comments everyone. Again, the final version will be color corrected by scene.

These are just to show off some segments that are cleaned. The color selections will be made later on.

Here is the final 3 minutes of Reel 1, up to the tail. That is usually the part with the most damage.

NOTE : The crew member playing a Jawa above.

NOTE : There was no color correction done to this clip. There will be contrast and brightness adjustments made also.

This should give you an idea what watching a Grindhouse version would be like, there is not too much damage, except near the heads and tails, however there are artifacts throughout the movie.

This shot looks a little weird. It looks like there's just pasted blue color to the black and the part of Jawa's hood is now missing.

Actually, all I notice is how the cleaned-up frame is somehow less cropped.

It's probably just one frame (I'm guessing a glue frame) so you probably won't even notice it while viewing the movie.

There is a bit missing at the top. That will be fixed. Doing these comparisons helps spot those.

However, the artifacts on most glue frames will be minimized, but, as mentioned, most last for only 1 frame.

Final cropping will come later to match the theatrical versions.

Amazing cleanup Team Negative1! If I had not seen the damage, I would have never known it was there...
