Idea, Info & Help Wanted: "Star Wars 2" Audio Drama of the Leigh Brackett script to ESB

In case anyone doesn’t know (and God knows I never shut up about it) I write and produce the award winning audio drama The Table Round.

I’ve wanted to give something back to SW fandom for a while, and I just love the 1st draft ESB script. I’m looking for anyone interested in helping with post-production work on an audio drama adaptation of the Leigh Brackett script to ESB.  I want to make the script into something fans can enjoy even if reading a photocopied screenplay isn’t their cup of tea.

I’m almost finished with the scripts, making just minor changes to adapt them to audio. Also breaking them into episodes, because audio takes longer. Probably going to be 5 episodes.

Anyone interested in audio editing, sound Effects or music? “The Table Round” keeps a pretty sparse soundscape by design, but Star Wars needs some real awesome work.

I have a crew of talented actors I already use, but I’m not opposed to hearing anyone audition (Octorox was already a guest star on Table Round).

And would anyone be interested in helping with a cover image? I was thinking something like this

but with one of the concept art pictures from ESB, like maybe the speeder in this painting

Wow, very interesting. Time permitting I would be interested in some capacity. I work in radio (almost 20 years) so know my way around Adobe Audition...wife and 2 kids though so time is limited, but pm when you're ready to roll.

I'd be interested in auditioning for a part again if you have any openings.

This looks really cool.  I don't think I have the talent or time to help, but I definitely look forward to seeing/hearing it.

 What Puggo said.  Great idea!

There's one other position I'm looking for assistance in, and that's a music supervisor.

I'd like to avoid using the musical themes from ESB, and score this production with selections from the "Star Wars" score, and some of the auxiliary orchestral works.

  • The Star Wars Kinnect Game
  • The Clone Wars Soundtrack
  • The Force Unleashed Soundtrack
  • The Old Republic Sound Track
  • "Black Sunday" John Williams film score preceding "Star Wars."

I have all these albums, but I lack both time (writing and directing) and a particularly good ear for music.

Would anyone like to go through the script, go through some records, and start picking out musical pieces?

And I'll post auditions here as well. No set schedule yet, but I assume within a couple weeks.

We're also looking for people to play/produce Chewie and Artoo as characters.

Each sound those characters make would be a numbered cue in the script. The producer for that character would find the right sound effect for that line to create the character. Example:

SFX                   A distant rumble/explosion sound.

77. CHEWIE               (Surprised Growl)

78. HAN            Calm down. They’re just blasting more space in the ice to park more ships.

79. CHEWIE               (Growls question)

80. HAN                   How should I know?

 I could do this.

We have a logo (thanks Fishmanlee), two finished scripts, and a handful of solid actors.

Timeline is to have all the scripts done by August, hold more auditions, and have lines recorded by October.

If you'd be interested in Sound Effects, but are not willing to make a large commitment, there are many individual parts that need sound effects someone could tackle. For example:

  • The weird chittering of a specific alien.
  • The ambiance of Luke's hospital room.
  • The musical growling of the protoWampas
  • The sounds of each individual space flight scene.

So the job can be just as big or as small as you're interested in.
