Just wanted to add that I also love the unabashedly un-pc tack they've taken in eschewing the mealy mouthed vaguery currently in vogue by announcing the film will be released not "This Holiday Season," but rather "This Christmas," just how the first film would have been advertised if it had met its original release date in December 1976. But then, I love pretty much any show of defiance against 21st Century America's despicable repudiation of Christmas as a cultural touchstone.

Great point. And I could not agree with you more. I'm surprised I didn't even think about this when seeing it the first time. Love it.

I hope they go one further and give Jesus a god damn cameo. They'll probably just try to be all PC and make it Life Day, again.

Fact: The Star Wars Holiday Special first aired on November 17, 1978. It was, at best, a Thanksgiving event, although it aired the weekend *before* the holiday.

Anyway, you're wrong in thinking that no one says movies are coming out on Christmas because of PC culture or whatever.

2014: The InterviewUnbroken

ALSO, now that I'm spending so much time writing this post, where the heck did you see "Christmas"? The trailer says "December"

In case it wasn't obvious, I was just pointing out how god damned absurd the alleged War On Christmas is. Started to feel like I was on the O'Reily Factor forums over here.

Right. Because expressing gratitude that the season surrounding the one and only Federal holiday in the month of December is actually being referred to by name and not by euphemism is a sentiment exclusive to neocons.

At least you managed to express yourself rationally, without, you know, resorting to shrill hyperbole and histrionics.

"These deadly rays will be your death..."

For anybody that didn't see the "This Christmas"

And that's Star Wars' official youtube channel.

And btw, Unbroken was a movie about a guy who was tortured as a POW and then became an outspoken Christian after meeting Billy Graham, so I'm not really surprised there.

There is no try.

Is IMAX still on film, or is that fake grain on those screenshots?

Also, I wonder why there's channel misalignment in the one with the army: is it because of the camera lenses?

Is the lightsaber that's handed to presumably Leia definitely Luke's/Anakin's?

Anything's possible, but I would almost guarantee it is.

I'd just like to point out that at least in the US, if you wait until Christmas to watch this, you'll be a week late.

Which is why it's silly to put "this Christmas" in the trailer, War on Christmas or not.

Here's some 4K shots from the new teaser, including the IMAX shots uncropped.

Nice!  Zooming in shows that the silver stormtrooper dude is standing behind the guy on stage at the big stormtrooper rally.  Not that special, but it's something.

Also, that's a guy on stage, not Leia.

Maybe Vader was feeling sentimental and had his men search cloud city from top to bottom to find Luke's saber, so he could play with his son next time they met. Then he saw that Luke had a better lightsaber, and forgot to mention it.

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

FYI: Christmas starts in late September and runs right through to early February. I've worked in retail, so I know.

Anyone else notice there's a creepier, fainter voice that repeats Luke's lines just after he does? Hmmmm....

I think it's Yoda, also taken from Return of the Jedi.

 What? No it isn't.

I think the leader in the big parade scene is Gleeson wearing a long coat.

BB-8 has really grown on me.  JJ is right, doing tactile things make for a better experience.

It seems like people are really embracing the new characters. In fact, the big question people ask me now about Star Wars is, “Are Finn and Poe gay lovers?” And really how the f*ck would I know? My second husband left me for a man, so my gaydar isn’t exactly what you’d call Death Star level quality. ----Carrie Fisher
