Same person, but the trailer proved me wrong.

It proved you might be wrong.  It's still only a teaser trailer.

Just checking. :)

And yes, melty Vader is even more disturbing than the actual mask burned for ROTJ. I'm betting somebody makes a costume like that now. *eek*

Found a video someone took of the reaction to the trailer at Celebration itself.  Really captures the energy!  Must've been mind blowing experiencing that in person.

Have to say that the cinematography is so good in this, and unlike many films I see today, wisely uses its aspect ratio, utilizing the enhanced horizontal space in 2:39:1.

And while certainly not every shot, a few shots did look like they were picked straight from the OT.

My one question is where the hell did they get his lightsaber back from cloud city for that one shot, unless that god-awful opening shot rumor is still true...

Plenty of head scratching bits for me with this new trailer. Plenty still looks off and fake-ish- especially in she ship design and the glaring weirdness of the X-Wing cockpit moments. The new actors and stormtroopers are pretty jarring to see in this context. But Harrison's bit was both weird and uncanny for me. I'm also surprised they showed any of the returning principals this early.

The burned Vader helmet means Luke isn't very good at cremation.

Anakin/Luke's saber being handed over made me question: Okay who went to Cloud City to retrieve it and does this mean Luuke will pop up anywhere?

Chewie's grooming is really good. Seriously, what happened with the mask there?

I know nothing can be perfect, and it will be extremely weird to see new stories in the original universe, but I can't help but agree with HairyHen that something is missing that lacks the Star Wars feeling. To me it not only doesn't quite feel Star Wars, but it certainly doesn't look it. This puts me off more than anything in the trailers.

So I'm still hiding under the "Kasdan helped write it..." stay positive rock.

VADER!? WHERE THE HELL IS MY MOCHA LATTE? -Palpy on a very bad day.

I couldn't disagree more. Visually, everything looks fantastic. It looks like a Star Wars movie should.

I'm more worried about the story being potentially contrived and paper thin.

I can explain it - it looks too polished. It's Star Wars, but (figuratively) photoshopped to death.

It looks to be full of good intentions, but they quite simply did too much.

The next one could be rescued by the filmmakers restraining themselves and stripping out all the gloss, but it wouldn't make business sense. People have become used to primary coloured, hyperactive junk such as Transformers, Fast and Furious, etc.

One observation: tie-pilot who appears twice seems to be female. Lupita or Gwendoline?

One nitpick: Chewie's voice didn't match his mouth movement well.

The blue elephant in the room.

The Empire is now The First Order

The Rebellion is now The Resistance

Seems like brand destruction and a dumb change to me.

So the Rebels are victorious at the battle of Endor and 30 years later they are still the resistance?

The Empire defeated, the emperor gone but the imperials are still in power as the First Order?

I think JJ is trying to recycle the OT way too much here.  I get it, he doesn't like the prequels (watch his keynote where he ignores their existence in a question) but certainly the Rebels would be in power now after 30 damn years and the Emperor destroyed?

I guess I'm clinging to the New Republic EU but honestly it did make sense.  More then the Resistance/First Order stuff.

^I like the idea of an Imperial remnant controlling some parts of the galaxy, but yes, I agree that it's rather weak that the Alliance hasn't evolved into a New Republic at this point in time.

A lot can happen in 30 years. Governments can rise, fall, or splinter in a lot less time.

I've never had a problem believing the Empire could still be hanging on in some corners of the galaxy.

How do you defeat an entire galactic empire in one battle? What, all imperial troops abandon their posts and gathered together in the same star system?

Well, the SE makes it seem the Empire was defeated with the celebrations across the galaxy... remember "Wesa Free!"?  It seems to work better with the original ending of the celebration just on Endor.

Anyone else notice there's a creepier, fainter voice that repeats Luke's lines just after he does? Hmmmm....

What if the Empire splintered into separate factions all fighting for some form of control, the new baddie comes in and unites the clans into a huge force again.

Its still too early to really evaluate much, but I kinda agree with something feeling very slightly off.

I think Harrison's costume also doesn't seem right, almost looks like he walked onto set wearing that.

Am I the only one who thinks that the shape of Vader's molten helmet reminds of the... Death Star?

(by color and asymmetry, with the one eye socket looking like the DS turbolaser...)

I threw together a little combination edit of both teasers, if anyone's interested:

I think it's Yoda, also taken from Return of the Jedi.
