I'm convinced he's going to finish ruining the Star Wars franchise just like he did with the Star Trek franchise.

 SPOILER ALERT!!!

The original trilogy was really only designed to be understood by people with one or more PhDs. So I'm glad they've finally decided to make it dolt friendly. Maybe they'll actually have a reasonably sized market this time around.

Did anyone else think that Chewbacca's eyes looked a little bit too realistic? That's probably about the most nitpicky thing a guy could say, but isn't that what the internet is all about? Other than that (and the crash zoom), what a great trailer!

Are you saying Peter Mayhew's eyes aren't real?

Haha! Wow, I just spent a good ten minutes looking for pictures to make a comparison before I understood what you meant. Okay, so did they look digitally altered to anyone else? Please tell me I'm not crazy.

 You're not crazy.

That said, they look normal to me, and I have no idea why they would digitally alter them.

I think that this trailer may be better than the one for Episode 1, and that's saying a lot. I've watched it a dozen times already.

You probably don’t recognize me because of the red arm.

Something seemed off to me about Chewie the moment I saw him - then I realised: they seem to have given him black, glassy, ewok-style eyes whereas he used to have people eyes.

I'm glad I'm not the only one to notice this. I've been banging on to my mates about it but they all think I'm crazy!

It might just be the way the scene is lit though...

I really want to like the new Teaser. But it doesn't work.

Nice to see there are grumpy cats in this thread too.  I thought it was pretty great.  Even the bit where Chewie was killed by Lando.

Are you looking at the high resolution teaser? Because in that you can pretty clearly see the whites of his eyes.

You might want to edit that for the benefit of other people, Frink.

You may as well have told them who killed Han!

Meant to post a couple days ago. Saw the trailer in theaters before the Avengers and was literally shaking from head to toe. Now trailer has ever made my heart beat so fast, or got me feeling choked up at the end. Words cannot describe how excited I am for this movie.

By the way, I saw the trailer in 3D, and it's actually really cool looking in that format. For instance, I'm not a big fan of crash zooms, but the one in the trailer, when seen in 3D, is breathtaking. Star Wars is meant for 2D in my mind (though not surprised it's 3D because every Disney movie is), so I'll probably see it standard first and then IMAX 3D the second time.

Man, Star Wars on the big screen again. Great times ahead.

After watching ROTS tonight (for the rifftraxx, honest!), I think Chewie may have that Benjamin Button disease and is aging backwards.

So serious question from someone avoiding the spoiler thread (where all the news seems to be getting aired).

Will the spoiler policy remain in effect after the release?  Cuz I probably won't see the movie until it hits blu-ray, and I would be mildly irked it the "so-and-so dies" thread titles show up at 2 am on the release date...

I think it should remain in place for a few months after December at the very least. And it should apply to all future SW films.

Of course, if Episode VII stays in theaters for over a year like the original film, all bets are off. ;)

"What are you looking at? Look at the camera, Pete! I shoot when I see the whites of the eyes."

Honestly, I've had my head full in on rumors/leaks, but I think after watching the next trailer, I'm gonna just check out and wait till the sale starts for reserved seats for a 7:00pm premiere showing.  I can't go any later, cause I'll want to make sure I don't run into anything huge.

Hope this thread becomes a bit more active within two to three months from now.

This is currently four pages longer than the spoiler thread though. :)

Based on the "official" preview and promotional material available, it's actually hard to parse spoilers from non-spoilers.  For instance the press release surrounding the teaser trailer gave all kinds of factoids that were not actually established by the trailer--such as planet names, character names and some character background--and in one case actually spoiled a surprise that I think the teaser tried to set up (regarding the desert setting--I'll leave it at that).

I have a feeling that closer to the release date, both trailers and press releases will become increasingly "spoil-y."  It's easy for me to avoid the "official" spoilers (since I don't have cable or an antenna on my dedicated blu-ray display device) but I'm wary of forum users considering such unbagged cats as "not a spoiler because it was in a released trailer."

So maybe it is best that all the news goes to the spoiler thread rather than this one.

It's strange. I don't want to know ANYTHING about the film. Even just knowing the cast and seeing the first two trailers was too much (but they were unavoidable* - thankfully the bts reel was not and I have not seen it), and that's not to mention the character names which are all over headlines and other minor things that my friends always feel the need to tell me. But at the same time I'm really excited for this movie and want to talk about it and, naturally, being a member of a SW forum, you'd think I'd talk about it here. But at this point it's almost impossible to talk about it without learning a new piece of information. And if we're not talking spoilers, what are we talking about?

So I wanted this thread to become more popular but I don't see what the point would be.

*unavoidable because I tried to avoid them but started seeing pictures and such all over the web and decided the best way to be spoiled was they way they intended, so I read the cast list and watched the trailers.

What is a spoiler? How do you define the term?

Maybe something like this?

Note to self: Don't look up "millennium falcon spoiler" if you don't want to get spoiled...

Darth Id on ‘Why “Ben”?’:

And while we’re at it, we need to figure out why they kept calling Mark Hamill’s character “Luke Skywalker,” since it’s my subjective opinion that his name is actually Schnarzle Shnuzzle.  It just doesn’t make sense!

Damn you George Lucas for never explaining why they all keep calling Schnarzle “Luke”!

Damn You!!!
