Hey, someone on FanRes.com did an audio fan perservation on Halloween 4, Halloween 5 and Halloween 6 which it is an 2.0 AC3 track. I think you guys go there and listen to the audio track if it's right or not right.

No-one did a preservation on the audio.  I uploaded 2.0 audio there so we can try and figure out the difference.

Thanks for the heads up though ..... LOL

PDB do you happen to have Day of The Dead bit perfect PCM?

Sorry DJ I don't have it.

if dj wouldn't have put me on ignore, for what ever reason, he would've known by now that i have the ld and it was synced to the jap bd.

So far, no.  I did find a US Halloween 6 LD with Ultra Stereo but nothing else so far.  I'm going to hit a few resale shops this weekend and see if I can happen upon them.  Wish me luck.

LOL

H4 Ultra-Stereo is on the 1999 DVD and the missing sound element is @ ~ 2:41. Overall, the 1999 soundtrack is better and unless someone needed credit (and thus $), I'm not sure why this was mucked with. Check out the beeping shortly afterwards too (you'll know it when you hear it).

In regards to Halloween, unless people need PCM (vs AC3) these are the questions...

Was H5 remixed/remastered for home video?
Does the remix/remaster sound bad or is the remix/remaster missing sound elements? Can anyone answer these questions???

Various sites indicate H6 was released in Ultra-Stereo for home video, so which releases have it? The 'Echo Bridge' DVD and Blu-Ray releases *might* contain the Ultra-Stereo.

The early DVD release which I have .... it says it on the back and I believe it is in the download I sent you the link for.

The first Bluray has the 2.0 in lossless, the new one from the set does not.

Cool, all that's left is H5, who can help with that?

Someone asked earlier if the mono on the Jaws BluRay is the best version of the mono. I personally don't know since I dont own a BluRay player and hence dont own the Jaws BluRay. But I did get the Jaws 2012 DVD which did have the mono. I don't know if thats the same mix as the one on the BluRay (DVD mono is Dolby, BluRay mono is DTS) but this mix is ok. Not great but doable. I think the mono mix on the 2005 DVD was slightly better. I've never owned a Laserdisc player either so I dont know how that sounds either but I would definitely like to see it synced to the BluRay footage since if its anything like the mix on the 1995 Widescreen VHS it'll be good. There were certain things that stood out in the mono mix on the VHS than the DVD mono such as the dialogue thats shouted in the scene where the shark tows the boat. Hooper's line 'It's impossible! It's impossible! The line is too tight! He's towing us!' was more clearer on the VHS. Also after Chrissie's death, they cut to Cassidy lying on the beach and a wave washes over him after which on the VHS we hear him burp. The burp is not heard on either the mono or 5.1 mixes on the DVD. So anyways I'd like to see the Laserdisc track synced to the BluRay to see how that sounds. Anyways I have a question. Does anyone have the 1987 Laserdisc for Frankenstein?? I'd like to see that synced to the BluRay. I really wasn't pleased with audio mix used on the Blu for Frankenstein. It's even missing portions of the audio such as the echo to the Monster's growl when Henry and Waldman descend the staircase to go to the cellar where they discover Fritz's death. These missing portions should be on the Laserdisc (they were on the '87 VHS). Note: the Laserdisc should have the censored version of Henry's line 'Now I know what it feels like to be GOD!' which was restored on the BluRay. I dont know if anyone wants to leave the Laserdisc audio untouched or perhaps do some editing to restore the censored line.

I'd guess that the PCM mono track from either widescreen Jaws laserdisc would sound very good. There was the 1992 disc, and the 1996 Signature Collection.

Also in regards to music being rerecorded in Jaws, again I don't know much in regards to the Laserdisc but I do know that pre-1995 VHS' had a different song playing in the beach scene where the kid on the raft is killed. The original song was 'Having my Baby' by Paul Anka or at least I assume it's the original song since its been on every release from '95 onwards and there's been no mention on any of those releases of rerecorded music yet some of the tapes with the other song did.

OK, so I guess the 1992 LD and the Signature Collection will need to be compared.

Same thing happened with The Thing, many home releases prior to the Signature Collection LD removed Stevie Wonder's "Superstition" due to the difficulty of licensing certain songs for home video at the time. (Which reminds me, I hope that eventually someone does a reconstruction of the theatrical soundtrack for National Lampoon's Vacation that restores "I'm So Excited" to the Ferrari scenes. I saw a 35mm print last year, that's the first time I ever saw it with the song intact without it being the network TV edit.)

I have the Signature Collection DVD and if I'm not mistake, Superstition is there.

Would you like me to double check?

Do you mean the Signature Collection LD, not DVD? I thought the Signature Collection LD PCM for The Thing was already preserved, bit-perfect, for the spoRv project? It's listed on the first post. I feel like if it had the music replaced, it would have been brought up during the making of spoRv, but I guess it wouldn't hurt to check.

And actually, I was referring to Jaws. My question was whether the first widescreen LD of Jaws from 1992 (also the first LD to have PCM) had the music replacement or not.

(EDIT: I checked LDDB, the notes say "Top left of the jacket states: Home Video Version, Some Music Rescored." So I guess the Signature is the way to go for a PCM mono preservation. Though it would be interesting to compare the two in all other aspects...)

TServo, can you rip your Jaws for comparison?

The Blu-Ray is supposedly good and also contains the 1975 mono mix.

"... the climactic line by Chief Brody of “Smile you son-of-a-bitch!” which causes the last syllable to be drowned out by the rifle blast. In earlier mixes, the line was triumphantly audible. In the new mix, and in the last few DVD mixes, the line has been dialed down. ... ... ... the mono track is the actual 1975 mono, and that the final line is accurately presented in that mix."

The bluray of Jaws is good and it has the DTS 2.0 mono.

Here is an Amazon.com image of the 1991 Jaws VHS (I have this edition). It states 'Home Video Version  Some Music Rescored'. Also is there anyone who could assist me in creating an account with MySpleen?????
