Star Wars Episode III: Labyrinth Of Evil (Released) — Page 5

I'm replacing the scene where Mace notes a plot to destroy the Jedi in the war room with the equivalent deleted scene where he notes this along with Yoda and Obi-Wan earlier in the film. Doing this lets Obi-Wan participate and share this suspicion, which I feel helps the second half of the film.

The other I included this time is the second of three "seeds of rebellion" scenes. This one isn't as important, but keeping it would add a little more continuity to the film, seeing that plot thread continue.

I'm upconverting them with Compressor this time, as I did with the rest. I took a shortcut by using something else, but there is bad aliasing. No worries; just a minor setback.

Good to hear!

Man, I miss Compressor. And Final Cut 7 overall, really. And a fully-functioning MPEG Streamclip. And Color...

...why did I switch from Mac to PC again? Fucking Premiere...

Just watched both of those deleted scenes. Definitely glad you're bringing both of them in, especially the Windu/Yoda/Obi-Wan scene! Can't wait for v3!

You should give Vegas a try.

I may one of these days. I don't actually hate Premiere, I've never had any deal-breaking issues with it. FCP just came with such a good suite of applications that worked very well together.

The only reason I haven't really tried Vegas is that, to my knowledge, it doesn't work with YUV color, while Premiere has no issue with it. I prefer to keep the colorspace the same through the entire workflow.

Of course, this is a topic for another thread, so I'll leave it at that.

hal9000 so how far a long is the episode 3 edit?

Probably an unfathomably long way to go. Best to keep off any and all filesharing sites until told otherwise so that we don't stress ourselves out waiting.

Fine, I'll be the one to tell him.

The 1080p V3 was just uploaded to Myspleen today. Go nuts. No, I don't know when the 720p and DVD5 will be up.

hey do there need to be more seeders because it seems to be downloading pretty slow.also the reason i asked about that for episode 2 was because i was trying figure out when exactly the 1080p ep 3 edit was coming out. can more seeders be added so i can get it to download at a more normal speed.

There is one seeder, because only one person has it, and he is kindly uploading it for the rest of us.

When you are done downloading it, *YOU* will be a seeder. So will the rest of us, when we're done! But here's the thing. Once we're done downloading it, some of us will *continue* seeding it. We will be seeders! That's where the name comes from.

Here's the trick: Do you see what you did with your other downloads? You downloaded them, and then stopped seeding them. So other people cannot download them from you. You are, distinctly *not* a seeder.

I got lost at seeder, can you just sum up why there is only one seeder? lol jkjk ;P

Well, we may not have learned that today. But at least we learned why he asked about episode 2. Now, if you could just explain it to me so I can make sure you understand it... :)

V3 is 100% finished, and currently available at the usual venues. *fistpump*

Keep a lookout on myspleen for a 1080p-only "V3B" of Ep2 and Ep3, the only difference being Jackpumpkinhead's source used for Mace Windu's lightsaber. But V3 proper is utterly completed.

The only thing I could foresee to cause me to re-do any of my work is either A) if they were to release the prequel deleted scenes in HD, and/or B) emanswfan releases his (final version?) regraded source material some sunny day in the future. Even then, I wouldn't plan on making any creative editing changes.

Yeah, I've heard that before ;)

Excited to see these!

I must say I enjoyed this one. I found the first half hour much more bearable without the awful R2D2 CGI antics. The parts that actually work in the film can be enjoyed more readily.

Actually, I grabbed the v1, as I wasn't so sure about the Death Star change. Including the Death Star was cheesy and lame, but I figure if there's any point in the trilogy that they should be allowed to get away with that kind of 'fan service', it's in the last few minutes connecting it to the OT.

After reading some reviews, I was kind of concerned that Anakin's visions of Padme's death and subsequent discussions of them would be *completely* left out, leaving no discernible reason for him to give Palpatine the time of day after learning who he is. I'm glad that you simply reduced the presence of this idea. At least this was true for v1. Hopefully for v3, as I've deleted v1 :)

I did end up grabbing the v3, as it appears to have both the Seeds of Rebellion and Loyalists deleted scenes, rather than just one. And there are some minor fixes (intact lightsaber sound when attacking droids/Grevious on the bridge). The Coruscant sequence actually looks very nice.

The 'Padme lives' ending ending was well executed. But I have mixed feelings about the idea. It's a more striking change than most of your trilogy, which seamlessly chops out the worst parts in ways often no different than a TV network editing something for time. Though, obviously you improve it in the process. I did actually kind of like the deception of Padme apparently pregnant at her funeral. And I don't mind altered continuity, it's practically tradition at this point. But by leaving Vader's terrible "Noo", you leave the idea of her perceived death intact.

So, very nice job. Thanks for these, and see you at v4. :P

edit: By the way, all three V3 movies gave me scrambled video as bluray unless I selected "Do not change SEI/VUI data". Didn't check v1.

Thank you! I see you understand why the "Nooo" had to stay in my version. Having Padme live is what dictated the direction I took the entire film.

When I first saw Q2's edit, I was impressed at the idea, appreciating how it corrected something that stuck in my craw from day one. Then I found Corigar's cut, which downplayed Anakin's fears of Padme's death as a motivation for him to join the dark side. These two things support each other, and that's what formed the core idea for my Ep3 edit.

The one thing that would have been nice to have is some way to include Padme, or a mention of her, when the rest are talking about splitting up the twins. I considered including some distant weeping in the background, but that's pretty clumsy. The way it's set up, it's sort of a point of tension about what shape Padme is in until we see her on Alderaan. The altered medical droid dialogue ties up the loose end by setting us up to expect her to not survive into the next film.

On that note, did you remove Obiwan's lines about watching over Luke because you didn't want them, or because you had to cut around Organa discussing his family's role?

That, and to imply that a longer conversation was just coming to an end as the scene opens. Even keeping a clipped version would seem like they decided what to do extremely quickly. I thought the best thing to do was cut pretty much all of it and merely imply that they'd decided what to do. That can hang in the air for a few minutes until we see the twins being delivered to their homes. I also had the benefit of the film being a prequel.

EDIT: Also, Yoda's subsequent allusion to Obi-Wan spending time on Tatooine lends itself to the idea that they discussed what to do offscreen.

Why are your edits no longer available on fanedit.info? (Just a few days ago they were there, now there totally gone)
