Unfortunately, they've already said that the new Parker will be in high school. Again. And they're looking to cast an actor younger than either Maguire or Garfield were when they started.

Well there goes any chance of my watching it.  I hate highschool drama and I don't want to sit through the origin yet again.  Something tells me this movie will bomb too because I don't think I know anyone who wants to see Peter in highschool yet again.  Why does everyone in Hollywood assume that Spiderman's story ends the moment he leaves highschool.

I wish they would keep Garfield and just ignore the events of his films because while I didn't like him as much as Maguire when the script wasn't being completely stupid there were parts in TASM2 where he did a good job.

I say either do Spider-Girl or keep Garfield and just ditch the high school stuff, just please let Peter Parker grow up and stop telling the same stories with the same characters over and over again.

Spiderman is one of my favorite heroes but you wouldn't know it based on my reaction to his films because I am just that sick of the origin story.

Please do something different Marvel.

I hate Andrew Garfield. Hated the Spider-man films with him and hated his performance in them. I wouldn't watch another one with him in.

I went into Sam Ramis Spider-Man very much against the casting of Tobey Mcguire, but he won me over very fast.
The rumors about Sam Rami returning to do Spider-Man 4 with Tobey had me excited. I didn't like Spider-Man 3, but I think they could continue on from there with no problem.
Guess that's not happening.

I really don't think we'll get another origin story. I think he'll show up, already-established but still in high school, in Civil War, then the 2017 standalone movie will take place after that. They might do an opening credits montage in the 2017 movie, a la Incredible Hulk 2008, but I can't see them going any farther than that on Parker's origin story.

Frankly, I wouldn't be surprised if we get Parker for Civil War and Spidey 2017, then Parker dies at the end of the standalone movie and Miles Morales is the going Spidey from that point on.

I have been saying for a long time that what's his name from Community would make a great Peter Parker.  In fact the first time I watched an episode of that show I said it out loud.

I don't care about the race of Spiderman as long as they get a good actor, but just because he is black why can't he be Peter Parker? Does marvel really think that black middle class nerds who grew up in nice neighborhoods doesn't exist. It seems like every black character in fiction these days grew up in "Da hood" and is street smart but not book smart, isn't that kind of racist. I mean have we really progressed at all since the 1940s? Blacks are still portrayed as stereotypes who can't handle the world of white people, it's just now they are drug dealers instead of servants, seems like a lateral move at best to me. Oh and since when has Spiderman not been Peter Parker, will the general public even understand that? Isn't that kind of like having Superman not be Clark Kent? I say make him black but keep him as Peter Parker and give him the same black story as the white Peter Parker, don't change the back story just because of the colour of his skin.

Black Spiderman exists. His name is Miles Morales:

Why does he have a giant arrow point at his crotch?  He is a cast member from Planet of the Dinosaurs?

There was a black Spiderman? For me the only Spidy will always be the nerdy Peter Parker. Not sure why but I always liked these superheroes who were basically weird nerdy guys in real life :-)

Any final thoughts on Agent Carter?

I loved the show and I hope they do another season. But does anyone have an official statement if or if not the Agent Carter One-Shot is canon or to be seen as an condensed/alternative version of the series?

That's the problem - as soon as I started to love the series it ended :( A second season would be nice. And yeah, this sort of messes up the continuity with the one shot

The series is intended to take place before the One-Shot. The idea being, I suppose, that all of the men in that SSR office get all the credit and get promoted/reassigned, then the office gets renovated due to the damage and Bradley Whitford is appointed the new head of the office, and Peggy is back to square one as far as being unappreciated by the men she works with. Then the One-Shot happens.

I loved Carter. Any show where Ric Olie turns out to be the Big Bad is OK in my book. ;-)

When he first appeared, I shouted into my empty living room "RALPH BROWN!"

I wish technology were advanced to the point Ralph could turn to the camera and answer "You catch on pretty quick."

This is originally sourced from Latino Review so take that as you will but:

The Amazing Spider-Man experiment is officially over. Latino Review has confirmed through a source at Sony Pictures that Drew Goddard — long rumored to join the series’ creative team — will both write and direct the upcoming reboot of the Spider-Man franchise. The series is named SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN after the comic series of the same name. Allegedly, it will contain three films and will be released over consecutive summers.

Key things to look for in the new series

  • No new origin story, Spidey exists from the beginning, taken as a given
  • New actor, probably an unknown, he will be specifically based in High School and they want him to be able to grow up into the role.  The thought being if this works, Spidey can do multiple trilogies for years ala Harry Potter.
  • A major part of the first film will involve Spider- Man fighting Iron Man and then trying to pass the “audition” to join the Avengers
  • The first film will involved the Sinister Six coming together with the thought to later maybe spin them off.

IF TRUE THIS SOUNDS AMAZING, sorry, SPECTACULAR!

Sounds good, but I'd rather the Sinister Six evolve into a group over the course of a few films instead of it all happening in one.

I'd love if they brought back Tobey Maguire as a middle aged Peter Parker, passing the mantle to a high school age Miles Morales.

He could give him the suit and say, "You're the man now, dog."

If Drew Goddard is really going to direct it, then we've more or less come full circle. First the director of The Evil Dead, now the director of the film that largely parodied that film (The Cabin in the Woods). Can you call that full circle? Whatever.

Sounds exciting, I loved Goddard's The Cabin in the Woods. If anything, it will at least be better than Webb's horrible excuses for Spider-Man films.
