Will do. Sorry if that had already been reported. I was doing a good job at keeping up on here, but I haven't been on for a few months, so I'm not as up to date as I once was.

EDIT: Just watched the sample. Wow, what a difference! Can't wait for V2.0.

Looks pretty good. I like that warm gold tint on 3PO we can see on the TN1 scan. Can't you match it? Also, haven't you gone a little too far towards cyan, especially inside Jabba's barge ?

 Looks fantastic.

Are the interior shots pulled from the blu-ray, or can all that detail be pulled out of the dark 35mm shots?

I agree that the bright 3PO is a nice look. But, as ever, I have no idea what is "correct".

I noticed that some of the Sarlac shots are more cropped in the WiP-2.0 than the others. Is there a technical reason for that or just part of the work in progress nature of it?

Extremely excited for this release. Thanks Harmy and tn1.

Only the altered shots are from the 35mm and they are more copped because of stabilization.

As to the colors, they are still work in progress but I'm not sure the scan is 100% correct either - it probably isn't corrected yet.

Figured it was a stabilization thing. But it does look great.

Are all of your 35mm shots going to be whole frame for 2.0 (i.e., you're saved from a lot of rotoscoping this time around)?

Well, I did use parts of the BD footage in a couple of places and in the over-head shot of Luke I used the 35mm just for the Sarlacc but most of them are just full 35mm shots.

Beautiful, Harmy. Just beautiful.

It's amazing to me how little has changed in that first shot of the sail barge flying over the dunes, and yet how fake and CG the BD version looks compared to the 35mm.

Keep Circulating the Tapes.

So I used imgburn to put ROTJ on a Blu Ray disc, and not only will it not play in any program or platform I've tried, it also appears to say it's ~900 minutes long. What did I do wrong?

We can't judge that until you watch all 900 minutes and report your findings.

Results are inconclusive. Seems to be 900 minutes of blackness and a little "play" symbol in the corner of the screen, using both a ps3 and a ps4. VLC just gives an error.

Awesome as always, Harmy! Cannot wait for the final release.

I will add my voice to what Beber and towne32 saying. I really like the way 3PO looks in the t-1 scan with the warm shade of deep gold as opposed to the washed out gold.

What's best for me about these previews is that watching the official Blu-ray footage is like getting kicked in the teeth all over again.  God, those red skin tones look AWFUL.

EDIT: But on the positive side, the stabilization and color correction looks great.

Everything looks great Harmy! It's so nice that you are working from some high-quality materials, and that they are in such capable hands. I agree with CatBus, the color and stabilization are superb!

Thanks! Though somehow with the image smaller like this, the amount of cleanup work that was needed on the 35mm footage isn't as visible - it's not as dirty as the Lapti Nek footage but it still has those constant scratches on the right side of the image, which mostly must be painted out manually.

Looks great, Harmy! Just a couple cents of creative criticism: I think the -1 scan looks good, but it seems a bit off. Some details in the outdoor shots seem blown out and the skin tones look a bit too green. I think you tend to rely too faithfully on the -1 color at times; I find that somewhere between the GOUT and the -1 scan seems perfect.

This is, of course, just my own humble opinion.

But what Catbus said: my God, those bluray colors are horrible.

What’s the internal temperature of a TaunTaun? Luke warm.

Harmy, ROTJ is looking great. Perfect color grading, looks very filmic.
I just want to point out a little color oddity. For the BD, it seems like they shifted the blue hues into greens in the following shot:

Just out of curiosity: are you using "selective color" in AE to reduce the magenta skin tones?

BTW, congratulations for your new job! :)

Selective color isn't in AE - I use the Hue/saturation effect, which allows for shifting the hue, saturation and lightness of specific color-ranges.

 It is since CS5.

As mentioned before the scan that Harmy got was not color corrected. Also the other scans we have are slightly different color shifted, so keep those in mind when looking at them. They will be color corrected shot by shot for the final release.

OK, so the print doesn't actually look exactly like those scans, correct?
So I will use it as a general reference but won't stick to it too religiously.

From the 2 prints we've seen, the scan matches them pretty closely. However, the quality of the print might be off. So even though they are both LPP, we're not sure if they represent the same amount of color shift, as one shifts to blue and another to green.

It's different for separate shots also.

There's a third print also, but we don't know enough about it to comment.

There is a point in correcting both, so that we can get a good idea of what it should be like, which is what we will be doing.

Happy 1000th post!

I was wondering if the next release of ROTJ DE will feature the the various bonus commentary tracks.  For example, in the DE 2.5 of Star Wars, you had the 93' LD, 2004 DVD, 2004 starwars.com Audio Commentary, 2011 BD, and isolated score.

Those audio tracks are a great feature.  I noticed that ESB was missing the starwars.com audio commentary.  I found the original Star Wars commentary by Pablo Hidalgo to be quite interesting to listen to so I was hoping that perhaps some members of this community was able to locate those tracks for the next release of ROTJ and/or ESB 2.5.

Keep up the great work!
