Star Wars Continuity project (ALL 3 Films) (Released) — Page 2

So, what're the goals of this project? To help the small subsection of the OT films that consist of sabers and laser blasts appear as though they were done recently?

My stance on revising fan edits.

Can we take a look at what this guy has to offer instead of criticizing him and being rude? This community is overly insular as it is.

To keep the continuity of the effects from the prequels to the OT and possibly beyond. Though no matter how hard you work on Ep IV you will never get it to look like it was made in the last 10 years.  It was evident between empire and a new hope because way back then in 1978 they had no idea how to even film a light saber sequence or laser gun battle.

Ive seen a lot of other fan edits out there mine will be the most conservative that    You might see. Outside of a few audio additions to IV and of coarse Han shoots first, my objective is to take a hand drawn laser effect and to replace it with a digital one.  In my opinion it brings more suspension of disbelief then before.

If people are going to be critical to no end then I will never release it and I will just personally enjoy it for myself.   I was just thinking other people would enjoy it at some level.

I am not sure what your you mean, https is a secure protocol.  I shared a folder to anyone with the link.  Could you please explain to me what you mean by this?

Somehow I missed this post.  The forum software doesn't like the "s" because the forum software is older than I am.  If you remove the "s" from the "https" the forum software understands that it is a link and will make the link clickable.

JEDIT: Which now explains kane's post, so my apologies to him.

This is a really cool project, and I hope you won't be discouraged by everyone here's constant criticisms just for the sake of criticizing.   That's why I don't post updates about my ROTJ edit anymore, there's no point.  I'm going about it slowly anyway.  I'm just gonna release it out of nowhere one of these days without warning since any update I would post would merely be mocked until it's real meaning was buried.  And I'm not really even complaining, that's just the way things go around here anymore, and I just urge you not to be discouraged by it.

Was the only scene that I did not re-scope light-sabers, because my presets did not do well with a scene that was original shot in 24fps then slowed it down more with slow motion with repeated frames. It just looked ugly (usually if you going to film a slow motion scene you shoot at 48fps then playback at 24 I thought just would have looked bad.  I just had a Idea to create a more dreaming effect.

The screen shots do not do it justice.  If you could watch the entire sequence it actually works. I kind of came up with the idea watching the last few episodes of the clone wars cartoon series where Yoda seemed to have a way up putting people in hypnotic episodes to being one with the force..  My guess is this is what they were trying to do.  I was just enhancing the idea a little bit more. (but nothing is ever final, could always be re-worked.

Does anyone have any idea of cleaning up the horrible telecine registration errors in Jedi,  that occur for about 4 min right after the rebels arrive on Endor? Definitely not THX quality.  Someone really dropped the ball on that Blu-ray transfer.

No idea about that, but a suggestion for an easy fix you could make, and one that I made to my own personal version of ESB that I watch is use dynamic brightness adjustment when luke is underneath the walker (and the shot of the tow cable hitting the bottom) and make it darker under there since no light should really be hitting it, at least not to that extent.  Then when Luke ignites his lightsaber boost the contrast so that the core of the saber is white but the rest of the shot is still dark and looks kind of "glowey".

Yes there were activation flares on the prequel sabers you know.  It is a continuity project and nothing more.

You soundnlike my wife sometimes.   Lol

At at least the lord varder Nooooooo.

do you think EP 7 will? I cant remove the flares in 2, 3-- unless of coarse I had the original source material.

When you're finished would you be so kind as to let me use this as a source for my ROTJ edit?

what are u using for your editing software?, I am using premier pro cc, and working with *.mxf files

Author

Oh, I was under the impression you planned on distributing it normally as video files.  If not then I apologize.
