I had seen enough fo Vader and the Big 3 together. it's nice to see Leia alone...

Everybody that is angry that Luke fights Vader before Empire Strikes Back obviously never read Splinter of the Mind's eye.

Of course these comics are Canon and Splinter is not.

Splinter is Legends EU.

If Disney ever makes Han Solo movies set before Star Wars 1977, they of course will ignore the non Canon Brian Daley novels.

Just like they ignore Alan Dean Foster or any other EU.

“Always loved Vader’s wordless self sacrifice. Another shitty, clueless, revision like Greedo and young Anakin’s ghost. What a fucking shame.” -Simon Pegg.

I have. I just choose to interpret the Vader Luke and Leia fought in the Temple of Pomojema as being an illusion created by the Kaiburr crystal rather than the real deal himself.

He met Vader pre ESB in the original Marvel run as well. Luke gets into a lightsaber duel, only to find it was an illusion created by Vader designed to take out Baron Tagge. I guess they must have known a teeny bit of Empire's plot by then.

Then who killed Hin and Kee? *sniff*

I suppose. I just have issues with both of them getting killed, while just about everyone else is blessed with a "get out of death free card" thanks to the Kaiburr Crystal. ;)

This would have been a much darker movie than ESB had they filmed it.

Was Vader ever actually on Mimban at all then?

Yep, just not in the temple.

For that to work, he must really have gotten lost, and Luke and company leave the temple before he actually arrives.

For a brief time, it was the only EU novel. ;)

"Darth Vader" #1 takes place after the arc we're halfway through in "Star Wars". I mean, I assumed the Rebels accomplish their mission and escape, I just figured I'd find out how by reading that series.

Anyway, "Darth Vader" is pretty good. The art is a little "traced over screengrabs from the movie" which makes them look more realistic than the current "Star Wars" run, but is distracting to me personally when I can identify what frame most of the art was based on, except for the two-page spreads, which look incredible. As for the plot, I'm really liking the animosity between Vader and the Emperor. The Emperor just treats Vader like garbage, and some of the dialog are now my favorite things.

Darth Vader #1 was much more like it. It actually bothered with exposition and proper dialog.

I also love that they're going to be using Tagge. It just wouldn't be Marvel Star Wars without the Tagge family!

Definitely enjoyed Darth Vader #1 more than the first two main-series issues. Vader feels a little more like Vader, and I actually don't hate the way Fett was shoehorned in (even though he was totally shoehorned in). I really like the dynamic between the Emperor and Vader, and how Vader is going off on his own to find out who Luke is without the Emperor knowing about it.

Much more excited about the Vader run at this point than the main Star Wars run, but I'll continue to read both.

Reminds me how at least one fan letter written to the old Marvel book suggested Vader get his own title. :)

Vader #1 was really cool although doubleofive makes a good point in saying that he can tell exactly what shots were used in some parts of the comic but I can let it slide seeing how awesome it was and how interesting the dialogue is. Teases at the prequels with the scene where he remembers his lightsaber (also in star wars #2) and also makes you remember that little Annie can speak huttese

Star Wars #2 was just... meh, I don't really remember that much of anything memorable other than the Luke vs. Vader scene which the 1st one led up to...

Does anyone know who that lizard-eyed dude was that the Emperor was talking to in Darth Vader #1? He isn't familiar to me at all, also, does anyone know who that black mangled wookie is (Black Krrantan) because I have no idea who these people are.

Yes DuracellEnergizer, it is the lame Tagge with the weird voice and not the guy with the sick outdated shades ;)

And the second-to-last chance this series had of convincing me to end my boycott of Marvel has gone out the window.

There are no real references to the prequels other than the design of the Emperor's office on Coruscant. Smithers just likes that Vader knows Huttese.

There are any number of explanations for why Vader could have known Huttese before the prequels existed.

I suddenly have the urge to write a short story about Anakin getting stranded on an uncharted planet inhabited by technologically regressed Hutts ...

Vader destroyed the front half of an ATT with one hand, the guy is a telekinetic juggernaut.
