PT 3D releases

So recently I was on flipboard and came across an article talking about how at star wars celebration 2015 they will show the whole PT in 3D. Apparently they showed AOTC in 3D at the international one already but now the whole PT will be showcased in 3D. Do you people think that it will be released into the public? I hope so, that would make a pretty kickass fanedit because with the PT being so bland I think a 3D conversion would make it pretty cool. I found this intersting little article here about it: http://www.bleedingcool.com/2013/07/26/ive-seen-star-wars-episode-ii-attack-of-the-clones-in-3d-and-i-want-to-tell-you-about-it/

and they talk about it right on the actual website on the front page. What do you guys think? Would people try to make it a fanedit? Does anyone actually care? I thought it was pretty interesting that they finished the PT but never released it.

Its very odd since Disney is marketing almost 100% OT related stuff right now.

I really wouldn't be surprised if they re-release all six films theatrically in 3D in September as part of the build-up to Episode VII. Maybe they're not done converting the OT yet but they'll use this occasion to make the grand announcement?

At the very least, I could see them doing all-day marathon screenings in theaters leading up to the midnight release just like Marvel did for The Avengers.

Is Disney really going to want to showcase the PT before the new movie?  The marketing and hype is how much like the OT it is.  I can see them showing the OT, but not the PT.

It seems like people are really embracing the new characters. In fact, the big question people ask me now about Star Wars is, “Are Finn and Poe gay lovers?” And really how the f*ck would I know? My second husband left me for a man, so my gaydar isn’t exactly what you’d call Death Star level quality. ----Carrie Fisher

I didn't see it but by reviews I've read the only convincing 3D aspect of TPM3D was the crawl. Everything else reportedly looked pale and muddy.

Is 3D blu-ray dead? Because I would like to read a comparison between the theatrical 3D and the home cinema 3D releases.

Maybe that would be the way to watch this sort of thing.

On that subject I shall soon be getting the blu-ray set so that I can drop the DVDs off at a charity shop and have them ready for ESB:R.

It's not dead, but Disney hasn't been releasing 3-D movies on Blu Ray in states for a while, not even a hugely popular thing like Frozen.

They didn't even bother with any 3-D theatrical engagements of Lucasfilm's Strange Magic as far as I can tell. And some scenes in the movie were clearly intended for the format.

Marvel thankfully does it own thing with regards to Blu Ray.

Ebay is your best bet. Just be sure what you're getting is region free, unless you own a region free player.

On a side note, I've seen the Viewmaster reels for AOTC, and the effect wasn't much better than all the 2-D conversions they used to put out in the old days simply to just have a merchandising tie in. (E.T. was the worst offender in that category.) Whether they are derived from the actual 3-D conversion of Episode II is open to debate.

What was really sad was I had to explain what a Viewmaster was to a Toys R Us employee when I couldn't find them in the store.

I've not been able to see what the ROTS reels look like.
