Idea & Info: Star Wars Deleted Scenes - Reincorporated? — Page 7

Hey, I'm just messing with you.  I just noticed that really most of what you've been saying has been requests for everybody else to to something.  Now I understand, as I completely lack skills in everything editing related.  But so far, it seems as if most of your posts have been rather...moochy (is that a word?).  I ask for stuff too, I suggest certain changes be made too.  I guess it's just that's all I've seen from you so far.

I have the extended PT in SD.  I know it's not Blu-ray, but it's fine for me.  Your suggestion isn't bad, but it sounds like, "I will accept nothing less than HD," about everything, and it just seems snobbish.  Make a friendly suggestion, don't sound like a mooch, make other posts that don't sound like you just are in it for yourself, and you'll do fine.  Remember, I'm just messing with you.

When simply taken at face value without reading between the lines, my posts to the forum do not necessarily have to be seen in the way you have described, not even remotely. You are of course welcome to your subjective opinion of me, but if there are things in your perspective of me that are at all negative or critical, I would appreciate it if you would PM me about them instead of publicly painting me with your perspective in front of everyone. If this had started the other way around, I would have had the respect for you to take the PM approach. The only reason for you to do this publicly is to get affirmation of your perspective from others, such as Frink's response of laughter (or the further posts I'm sure will follow this, saying that I'm overreacting and thin skinned and that you are in the right). I again shake my head at the thought that if and when a moderator steps into this, I'll be the one told to pipe down and not you, which I think is ridiculous.

I can honestly tell you, regarding my posts (since I'm the one who made them), that they have been way more innocent than what you have made them out to be. I can open my mind enough to be able to see where you're coming from, but I still say that you have had to read between the lines a bit to arrive at your conclusions, wheras the negativity in your post about me is much more direct and specific. My posts have not contained any negativity explicitly personally directed at particular forum members. You on the other hand are directly telling me I'm being moochy and snobbish. I don't speak that way to other forum members because I think it's very presumptive, but you don't seem to have any problem with it at all, yet I'm the one who you say should be more friendly?

If you've been following my posts so closely, have you intentionally ignored the fact that I've gone out of my way to emphasize that I'm not entitled for anyone to fulfill my requests and that therefore if they do fulfill them I would be very grateful and undeserving? I suppose you've also ignored my offer to upload my copies of L8wrtr's prequel edits to MySpleen if anyone wants them. And anyway who do you think you are to critique my posts and advise me on how I ought to post in the future?

And again, the main issue with this is that you're doing it publicly instead of in a PM (the only reason what I'm typing right now is not PM'd is because you brought this to a public thread).

I think you missed the part where I said I'm just messing with you.  I don't even necessarily think you are that way, just that your posts could come off that way.  It was a joke.  I really want you to feel welcome here, but I do tease a lot, especially if I think someone is expressing things awkwardly.

You know, every online forum has its own culture.  There is almost always a little difficulty integrating in some forums.  When I first started posting here, I was offended by a few, including Frink.  Now I understand the culture better and it's all good.  There's a lot of teasing here, but just hang in there and you'll be fine.  BTW, notice that I included a winky face in the first post.  Though I don't always include one, when I do, it's a sure sign that my comment is intended to be harmless...hopefully humorous, but harmless.

Again, my awkwardness is your perception, but I do very much appreciate your reconciliatory tone. Thank you very much for that. Please PM me about any further comments you want to make about my delivery in my posts, if any.

My request about an HD extended cut of the prequel trilogy got sidelined by this. Getting back to the subject of this thread (reincorporating Star Wars deleted scenes).....

I also have ADigitalMan's SD extended cuts on my hard drive (and I'm willing to upload them to MySpleen if there's demand for that), but I think it would be awesome if someone redid them using the 1080p version of the movie. So if anyone is reading this who might possibly have the ability/desire to do the prequel trilogy extended cuts in HD, I would be excited and grateful.

Honestly, the fact that pleasant friendly people like Harmy are members of this forum is the thing that keeps me sticking around.

You'll find that I am actually pretty pleasant and friendly.  I just like to tease.  Please don't take it so hard.

I do like your idea, and I hope someone ultimately tries to do exactly what you say.  I know that emanswfan, a member here and at FE.org, has up-rezzed some of the deleted scenes, so you might have some luck if you get his attention.  He's pretty busy with his own projects too, though.

I just want to see how the movies flow with the deleted scenes watched where they belong (in the screenplay).

I guess I need to have a copy of the deleted scenes in a playlist next to my dvd player and a copy of the screenplay, and then pause the movie and play the deleted scene at the appropriate time.

That's what a fan edit would do. I don't care so much about the "quality matching" (see "Dune: Third Stage Edition" which worked great even though the quality of the "re-incorporated" footage was much less than the rest), though efforts to clean up the deleted footage would be awesome. I could see a copy of the "GOUT" working better with this blending than for instance the blu-ray editions.

Hey, I'm not pleasant and friendly! Everybody knows I'm a dick. Screw you and your stupid demands!

I kid of course :-) BTW. I just sent you a PM answering your Despecialized requests.

For all intents and purposes, i am the most pleasant and friendly you will find. You'll also find that often my posts are not in line with the collective thinking of the group... be happy for the teasing. Often my ideas are deemed so odd i am simply ignored. Not that I'm bitter...

I'd love to see just the first two Biggs scenes put back in. Skip Luke initially seeing the battle - it adds context, but breaks the pacing of the initial sequence. Put in the scene of Luke telling his friends about the battle right after r2 and 3po take the escape pod. Put in Lukes discussion with Biggs right after 3po hails the transport. Simple and effective. Sometimes people get stuck in the all or nothing mode, but as a general rule with extended editions i say put in only what is actually needed and adds to the narrative.

Preferred Saga:
1/2: Hal9000
3: L8wrtr
4/5: Adywan
6-9: Hal9000

Why don't I have my HD extended prequel cuts yet? You people have had a whole day to fulfill my request and I still see nothing. I'm supposed to get what I want! I'm not as forgiving as nightstalkerpoet. Oh yea, and stop ignoring his ideas too. Don't make me ask again!!!

^Very nice. Last I heard, Frink was on it.

At least I know now for sure that you've been joking.

does anybody work on the deleted scenes?

^This guy liked my edit, so now I like him. ;-)

Well it's been awhile since the Blu-Rays have been available. Any progress?

Is the "Rough Cut" the only project working on this?

I know this thread hasn't been touched in almost a year, but I can't help but wonder if anyone is still working on this.

Even a quick and dirty version of SW with unretouched deleted scenes integrated would be a nice version to watch for those of us who want to see how much the scenes would add or detract to the flow of the story as we know it.

Biggs has a story that needs to be told, because it's only a few minutes on film, but it is part of the backstory of our young hero, and shows us more about who Luke was before his fateful run-in with two robots who sweep him up in a path that Luke is destined to walk.  And the losses that Luke must overcome are even more overwhelming, because in addition to losing his aunt, uncle and the recently met, Obi-Wan, he also loses his childhood friend who shared Luke's dreams of leaving their backwater homeworld and becoming adventurers among the stars.

I think the closest thing to this right now is The Lost Workprint by Ryan MacAvoy, which has a really good workprint (hey, a workprint of a workprint!) incorporating a great deal of missing footage.  It's really great and I can't wait till he gets around to finishing it.

Empire Strikes Back

Did anyone try to colorize the Han & Leia extended kiss with "Ok Hotshot" line?

Simply because the cut they made here causes the problem of Leia's arm suddenly appearing at the back of Hans Head all of a sudden in the following shot.

Would the footage match up to the Blu-ray resolution wise?

This has actually shot up my list to being the most important deleted scene I think I can think of simply because it created a problem from it being cut where as most other scenes don't really create an issue from being cut.

Anyone fancy taking this one on?

About 11 seconds give or take to get it all to flow correctly as originally intended. Silly cut to make at the end of the day.

We have some footage from an earlier project that the previous member, -1 did for Star Wars :

http://originaltrilogy.com/forum/topic.cfm/star-wars-evolution-the-evolution-of-video-formats/topic/13546/

That might be continued.

Also someone else started an extended version:

http://originaltrilogy.com/forum/topic.cfm/Star-Wars-Extended-Edition/topic/16611/page/2/

Finally, we're thinking of making a 'Super Grindhouse' version of Empire Strikes Back with the deleted scenes, but no clean up, since they work better without it.

As a result of some new machines for rendering. We have someone that has been testing out the deleted scenes from Star Wars, and the results have been good.

We will be posting some sample videos shortly.

We are not currently planning to do the ones from the other 2 movies yet.
