I just finished downloading the WMV file. Any info on what that glitch file included is?

Just running Stab, MDegrain2 and RemoveDirt does wonders in making this look pretty nice although it doesn't fix the slightly wacky colors.
It's no substitute for more proper cleanup techniques, though.

I barely even noticed the dirt, and the grain is supposed to be there.
There were a couple scratches that were distracting, but they only lasted for a few seconds (I've seen movies at the theatre that had a big scratch down the entire length of several reels).
The pink tint was pretty distracting, but now I've got FFDShow installed so I can tweak it to my liking.

I don't mind grain, I mind THICK grain. Besides, it sucks up bitrate when encoding.
I usually don't try to remove it all, just reduce it to a saner level where it still looks like, well, film.

Sorry off topic but...
Seeing how the Team Negative1 trilogy is intended to replace the GOUT.
I've been trying to think of an acronym for the Team Negative1 trilogy.
Here is what I have come up with.
The Digital Original Unaltered Trilogy
The DOUT
Why Digital? because the Original Unaltered Trilogy has never been digital.
You mite say isn't the GOUT DVD digital? Which is true in a way but it
comes from an old analog video master. The Team Negative1 trilogy, comes directly from film.
You could call it the Remastered Original Unaltered Trilogy.
The ROUT.
But I looked up rout and got this.
“An assembly of people who have made a move toward committing an illegal act...”
Not something we what this to be named.
Personally I really like The DOUT. Because it sounds like, doubt.
Before the Negative1project started nobody would have believed that it was possible,
for anybody to scan an old 35mm print and restore it.
Seems a bit arbitrary, yes the gout was an analog master that was digitized. But this is film that was digitized. Granted there was no intermediary in this case.
Also I've noticed "digital" around here tends to bring up negative connotations.
Unless a truly better name is suggested, I think most people here are just gonna refer to them as the "negative 1 scans"
Also, the '93 LD master (source of the GOUT) was digital too.
Was it really a digital master? I'm unfamiliar with how laserdisc were mastered.
Whats on the laserdisc is just representation of the composite video signal, so wouldnt the master just be that? (it could be digital, but wouldnt it be a digital representation of the analog video signal?)
Probably best if we move this discussion.
Yeah, it was definitely mastered digitally. How else could the master have all that DVNR (Digital Video Noise Removal)?
Unless a truly better name is suggested, I think most people here are just gonna refer to them as the "negative 1 scans"
the TN1T?
the Team Negative1 Trilogy?
...I like it. A lot.
I'm totally pronouncing it like a bastardized "TMNT" (teenage mutant ninja turtles)
Yeah, I definitely like TN1T better than DOUT but I'm sure TN1 will come up with some cool original name for their project, like they did with their Renagade Grindhouse version.

If you're going that route, I'm going to suggest something totally off the wall and say: TNT?
The Teenage Negative One Turtles?

I will say this:
I made a rough encode, 1280x544, from the Renegade BDISO, which I uploaded for a friend of mine. He was impressed (considering that I had done DVNR on it, to mitigate the flaws of the source). I went through and compared my quick and dirty encode to the GOUT and it was a significant improvement, although I had probably filtered it a little more aggressively than Lucasfilm did.

The GOUT of Empire has such bad DVNR, anything would be a significant improvement =|

We haven't thought about a name for the new trilogy yet. But TN1T sounds pretty good.
We haven't done an analysis of all the frames from all the movies yet either, because we have so many prints, and versions of them.
When we are ready to release a restored version, we will take into account all the missing or extra frames that are out there.
We have no intention of limiting them to GOUT or other standards, as we're sure other people will alter them as needed.
There will all sorts of enhancements done, stabilization, cropping, dewarping, and flicker removal, and some light grain removal if needed.
Alternately, there will be Grindhouse versions later on, for those that want a rawer experience.
At this point, we're not sure we will release all the different editions like we are for Empire Strikes Back, but in this case there is enough interest to put out the Screened Version, and also a Raw version, and the first color corrected one also. These are being done just to preserve them, and also for you to see the evolution of the prints.
The final prints we are working with will have the best parts from each print, and be as complete as possible. If people want to see the individual prints on their own, those will probably just be as is.
For the 3 prints for Return of the Jedi, since they are in better shape, and with a few replacements of the Heads and Tails, they can easily stand on their own.

Change "Sorted by" from best to new (it's just above the comment box). This only works on a thread level as Reddit is really not that well suited to a forum style dialogue.

I just wanted to say thank you Team -1 for all your hard work! I watched the Grindhouse Empire in 1080, excellent. Then I watched it with my brothers, and they thought it was great. Then I watched it a third time with my girlfriend, and it was wonderful. It's my go-to version of Empire (until your super cleaned-up final version comes out of course!)
You probably don’t recognize me because of the red arm.

I have made a second NTSC DVD-5 – this time from the BD-compatible release with the glitches fixed. The new DVD is synced to the GOUT. It has the same AC-3 5.1 track that hairy_hen encoded for my conversion of Harmy's Despecialized Edition 2.0. PM me if you are interested.
