I like the idea, but I can't really help with that kind of stuff.

No, you've just posted to a thread that takes long, scenic strolls through off-topic now and again.

We also have a more utilitarian and general-purpose Howto/Technical forum which might be a little more topical to your question, or at least be better able to stay on topic.

Or should that be "brief dashes through on-topic"?

I don't mind "off topic". I didn't post it over there b/c it directly and more specifically relates to Harmy's DE. So I thought I'd throw it out here and see what you all thought. Is there interest for this?

Personally, I'm not interested in working on a general shell. I think DE is awesome and would like to support the project directly as well as help other less technically savvy folks to enjoy as we all have. Ya dig?

Just finished downloading all three movies but the ROTJ torrent just gives me folder title "BDMV" with a couple .bdmv files in it and a .m2ts streaming file in it but no .iso?

I have the same thing. I have the mkv and downloaded the dvd9s separately as I'm not familiar with the packaging process. These files would be the same within the iso (just a container for the files). I think you can just add them into an iso and burn them. Probably should work. I'll let you know if I get to trying it soon.

Use ImgBurn, select "Write files/folders to disc," add the BDMV and CERTIFICATE folders to the list, and burn using UDF filesystem, 2.50 revision. (If you forget the UDF 2.50 bit, it should ask you if you're burning a Blu-Ray format disc - just hit "Yes" and it'll set those for you.)

No, I was enumerating exactly how to do convert the audio in the MKV using TSMuxer, but then I realized that TSMuxer doesn't directly output back to MKV. So I tried taking TSMuxer's output file(s) and muxing back into an MKV with MKVMergeGUI (MKVToolnix) but I was getting errors.

So in the midst of my ongoing edits to explain, I [snip]ped my reply until I could figure out for myself the easiest way to do it, but then I left it [snip]ped because I'm both not sure it's on-topic for this thread and because I haven't worked out the kinks for myself quite yet.

JEDIT: I suppose it would be (somewhat) on topic to ask the thread what program(s) we use. I imagine that TSMuxer alone would work fantastically to convert it to Bluray.

I still wonder if anyone has successfully created a Bluray menu for the MKV, even if the foreign tracks may not be included in it.

I don't think you understand.

MySpleen is a private torrent tracker (meaning you must be invited to set up an account and the .torrents it lists are permanently blocked from using any other peer discovery methods outside of the MySpleen tracker itself.)

Suffice it to say, what you should do (after having bought official copies of the Original Trilogy) is:

- get an invite to Myspleen and create an account,

- search MySpleen for "Harmy"

- download the v2.5 AVCHD of Star Wars, the v2.0 AVCHD of ESB, and the v1.0 AVCHD of ROTJ (as those are the lastest respective versions of each)

- buy blank Memorex DVD9's (or DVD-DL's)

- burn each AVCHD to a DVD.

- Enjoy watching them on your Bluray player.

A couple follow up questions to this very helpful post:

-what is the current best way to get a MySpleen invite?

-Will the AVCHD, when burned to a DVD9, play on a standard DVD player? I only ask this because you specifically mention watching it on a BluRay player.

Thanks!

AVCHD's don't work on DVD players, and they don't work on some Blu-ray players, either. They work on many Blu-ray players, though.  If you want something that plays in a standard DVD player, you'd need the DVD downscales, which of course don't have the same A/V quality, are missing alternate audio tracks, etc.

I just downloaded the ISO files of V.2.5 and burned DVD copies, which I will give to my aunt this Christmas.  She is an OT fan as well, and she will be very happy to own the non-special editions in HD on DVD.

So, I know it's been awhile since you last posted your work-in-progress "Introducing the Despecialized Edition", Harmy, but I do have some feedback on one thing that irks me.

When the narrator begins talking about the National Film Registry, he says, "But it was here that a problem would occur." This phrasing irks me, because it suggests that the main problem we have is that the NFR doesn't have an archival print. The problem occurred with the introduction of the 1997 SE, not the fact that the NFR doesn't have an archival print.

Why not just say, "The NFR does not have an archival print of the original 1977 Star Wars," or something to that effect? I like how you transition into the 1997 SE by saying that LucasFilm offered a '97 print, but I don't think you have to go deep into the legislation. Mostly, I don't think "But it was HERE that a problem would occur" accurately describes our predicament.

Thoughts?

It's all good, though you'll never see the other half of that amulet if Frink has it.

I was referring more to the off-topic mentions you made about the other user.  Frink is the infamous king of off-topic anywhere he can squeeze it in here on the site.

Hi!  I'm not sure if i'm posting this in the right place but I'll try :)

Would someone be willing to help me?  My 6 year old son has never seen star wars - he doesn't even know what star wars is.   (I really want the despecialized remastered edition to be his first introduction, but this technical stuff is like a foreign language to me)   Is there someone who could help me & burn it onto a dvd?  I will pay for everything of course.   (Thankyou!)

It appears that tehparadox is down (yet again), does anyone have the uloz.to links listed there for the MKVs of ESB and/or ROTJ? I have a bunch of download credits on there.

Silly me for not copying them all down earlier today when the site was still up and running :/

Piratebay and tehparadox in the same week! Yikes.

No uloz.to links but see PM.

Speaking of uloz it appears I've been IP banned by them for half downloading v2.5 with jdownloader, if I try to access the site I get 404 not found but I can access the site from another internet connection ie my phone. Anybody had this happen?
