Anyone else blase' about the New trilogy? — Page 8

I know what people were calling it back in the day; I was one of them. And now it's been re-titled.

The point is not that is was once called something else; the point is that some still call it that. It's a stupid intellectual argument to continue to call it something which it isn't. You may as well say that people "used" to say the world was flat.

OK, let me ask you a question:  What is the Star Wars Saga to you?  When you refer to the Star Wars Saga, is it 6 movies?

Because now that the ST is being made, the SW saga is 9 movies, and the only reference to that name these days should be when talking about the PT, OT, and ST.

As of now, there only exist six films in the saga so when I talk about Star Wars it's the six existing films to which I'm referring.

Well, I hate to break it to you but Episode 7 just wrapped so the ST WILL be apart of the new Saga.

Again, please answer my question:  Will you still refer to the Star Wars Saga as 6 movies once the ST comes out?

The question "will you still refer" is different to "when you refer". Hate to break that to you :)

Principal photography being finished does not a completed film make. A lot can happen in 12 months. You might want to ask me your second question when it becomes relevant.

 LOL!

I'm sure Disney invested 4 Billion Dollars into the SW Franchise to shoot a movie for 6 months, and then never release the movie!  I guess this will be the first Harrison Ford movie that doesn't make it to the theaters!

I'm not a member of TFN anymore, so I miss arguing with the PT crazies like yourself cause you guys got an answer for everything!

Well, as I say, a lot can happen in 12 months.

Meanwhile, you're prattling on about a film that doesn't exist in a hopeless attempt to prove some kind of point. And I'm a what? A "PT crazy"? How quaint. Not to mention ironic.

Incidentally, if you want to avoid folk who have an answer for everything, stop asking so many stupid bloody questions.

What can happen in 12 months that will prevent Episode 7 from coming out?

Face it buddy, your 'Tragedy of Darth Vader' 1-6 story is so 10 years ago, as the new Saga is 1-9 now.

Repeat after me, "The Star Wars Saga is 1-9 now....."

Just because it was officially retitled doesn't mean that people have to mindlessly follow along with the title change. Why should they when they've been calling it something else for years? The flat earth analogy fails because the earth was never flat, it was only something people thought. ANH was originally called Star Wars, rather than Star Wars: A New Hope, so why not continue calling it that?

I bet you'd still call a cannonball (the kind you do at the swimming pool) a cannonball rather than a "tuck-in jump" even though the latter is the "official" term for it.

Even though I don't like PT, I consider myself a kind of common-sense Star Wars fan. When it comes to EP4 title I don't see why someone who accepts the rest of the saga (whether that is just OT or the whole thing) would insist on calling it just "Star Wars". Well tbh I actually know the stupid reason... you think you are being "cool" for doing that but quite frankly no one really cares.

The only case when I think it is reasonable for someone to stick with just "Star Wars" is when the person ignores the rest of the films (including ESB and ROTJ)... like Anchorhead for example.

The inisistence on calling something by its old title when it was renamed over thirty years ago seems to me plain stupid.

Oh, so I have to call it Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark from now on just because George decided I have to? Fuck that. I'll keep calling it Raiders of the Lost Ark, thank you, and I'll do the same for Star Wars.

I'd defend anyone's right to look stupid.

 Dear Silverwook,

Would you consider this a personal attack?

Sincerely,

What prequel movies?

:p

Also to add to what was said, I only started thinking about the first movie as "Star Wars" when i started lurking on these forums.  It does feel odd when I read people referring it as "A New Hope"

Yeah, given that that's what it's been called since 1980 I can imagine it would feel odd. Again, if you're really, really compromised in the mental department.

 Dear Silverwook,

This is almost certainly a personal attack, wouldn't you agree?

Sincerely,

Eh, I find him amusing. It's like he's every bad TF.N poster rolled into one. I hope he calls us Anti-Lucas Warriors next.

I've never heard of a tuck-in jump, but I'm pretty sure that's named after Jame Gumb.

The problem isn't what to call it. Rather, the problem is that EasterHay cares what others call it.

What kind of demented weirdo would call Star Wars "A New Hope"?

If you said to someone, "Hey I watched A New Hope last night," no one would have any idea WTF you were babbling about--it sounds like some kind of Christian self-help show from a women's-oriented little-known cable channel.

If on the other hand, you said "Star Wars," I suspect there's only one goofball in the world who would pretend not to know what you were talking about...

Easterhay,

Give the veiled attacks a rest.

Imperialscum,

Don't make it worse.

I'm not asking.

The problem is that when you say ''I saw Star Wars yesterday'' they'll ask ''Which one'' :P

It doesn't bothers me if they call it Star Wars, ANH or ''the first one they made''. For me is Star Wars but the movie is officially referred as ANH so a lot of people use ANH

What is your deal? Not enough hugs as a kid?

You should go watch "Star Wars" to cool down, then if you have time watch the sequels ESB and RotJ.
