Who like The Force Awakens as a title? — Page 2

I don't hate it, but it does bring to mind an image of a giant, sparking Force ghost yawning as he wakes up from a long nap.

Then I guess Spielberg's timing with the BFG was pretty good!

It sounds like a new video game but is not bad, I need to get used to it I guess

For a moment I didn't know what the acronym was, and googled it. I wonder how much thought JJ and his people put into the acronym aspect, if any.

Obviously they didn't think much about it, or they would have realized that everyone would associate it with trifluoroacetic acid! Every time people type the acronym, they're going to be thinking about a chemical instead of a movie and people are going to end up buying large quantities of the acid instead of movie tickets in their confusion!

Awakens the Force Does.

So, a new book came out and we learned so much, and it is called, “Anguilosaurus, Killer of the Living”.

I like it a lot  The film looks very much like a rebirth of the franchise, something that has been in an extended sleep.  The title fits what the franchise is going through. Also nice get away from the prequel style naming convention.

And now we have The Ridiculousness Awakens to look forward to, sometime before 2020. ;)

I dont like any of the titles.  I dont like the title for any of the Indiana Jones movies either.  Because they're all cheeezy homages to bygone eras of cliched serials.

But maybe the movie will be good.  Huh???

Well, without those serials, we wouldn't have Star Wars or Indy at all.

Understood, but lets not get too hung up over the title is my point.  Because none of them are spectacular or ground breaking.

The movie itself on the other hand could well be.  And even if its just very good then that is all that matters.

I hold the Indy series on the same level as Star Wars.  Sacrilege to some I'm sure.  If this The Force Awakens is as good as say....Temple of Doom, I am going to be a very happy fan.

I like it, it didn't leave me with the 'meh' feeling I had when I first heard Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones announced

Y'know, I guess it's oddly appropriate for Episode VII's title to resemble The Force Unleashed, even unintentionally.

That was also hyped as "The Next Chapter" in the saga.

At least it's not

I like it a lot. It succinct, and gives a nice feeling to it. A feeling or mystery and hope and adventure. Basically what I like about Star Wars. Great title, excited to see how it plays into the film's narrative.

Also, thanks for making this it's own thread. I'm trying to avoid spoilers so I don't want to visit the spoiler thread but I'd like to talk about stuff like this (which is a big deal and obviously not a spoiler because how can anyone avoid a film's title).

Also oh my god guys they've finished filming Episode VII and they gave it a title it's actually finally going to come out. I seriously can't believe it.

And only a year to wait!!! The longest year of my life.

It's not only the beginning of a new trilogy but also the beginning of a era of Star Wars at the mouse house.

That might explain the lack of Episode VII in the title, easier to tie in the other upcoming stand alone Star Wars films that way.

Can't wait until the first trailer drops, apparently it's cut and ready to go!!!

Who said multiple times that a plot about the Force itself should be the center of the new movie and that the word Force would be in the title? Oh yeah, it was me! So of course I'm very pleased with this new title. (even if in fact I know nothing about the plot since I avoid most spoilers this time.)

I'm not sure I like it. If Luke used the Force in "Star Wars" to blow up the Death Star, doesn't that mean The Force has been awake all along?

Apparently that is not the case. My first thought was: how can the thing that 'binds the galaxy together' be dormant/asleep/otherwise unavailable? That's an idea you could do something interesting with, actually, but I have a feeling this isn't that kind of a movie.

On the upside: it doesn't have a PT ring to it, and that's not a bad thing. Maybe it'll grow on me, or maybe it'll be justified by the story. Or maybe it won't matter.

A bit generic. Could be better.

They all are. You don't get more generic than 'The Empire Strikes Back.' If you titled Blade Runner in the same fashion you'd get something along the lines of 'A Guy Chases Some Robots.'
