Are things back on track or still on hold?
Adywan is still working on the fan production, but the rest of the team are working on their ends.

Yeh, i'm still working on the fan film. turned out to be more work than i had anticipated. But I'm back to working on ESB:R in my spare time
Nice! Hope the other project is going well. Thanks for the update!

Thanks for the responses guys. Good to know things are still moving forward.
Ady, can you give any details about this other project? Is it a Star Wars fan film?
Talking about 3D printing... I wanted to share this guy that could be useful for far away scenes (like battle scenes from ROTJ) its not detailed enough for the Empire Strikes Back shots:
What? Those are miniatures you can buy in a store for a tabletop game.
Alas, Ady can't even tell the team what project it is. Very hush hush for some reason.ray_afraid said:

Maybe it's directed by one Mr. Jeffrey J. Abrams?
I very much doubt that. It's definitely a fan project.

Most likely the filmmakers simply wish to handle promotion themselves, and have made it clear to the crew that it's not their job to talk about the project. It's not uncommon.

You might be right, but I prefer to think Adywan was secretly directing Ep 7.
Ep 7 Revisited :)
ok I know suggestions are closed but I have recently become aware of a minor difference between the original and revisited. It is also very small but I also wondered if it was dropped as it may take away from everything else that is going on.
But Basically the spire lights (obstruction Lights) on the cloud city needles or tall buildings don't seem to be present in the new mattes which are fantastic but I thought to myself I wondered why they were not there? So the Cloud city mattes have blinking lights in the SE and original I think but I would not mind just seeing constant lights on some spires or tips of spires as a warning to landing ships perhaps in heavy cloud so as not to crash.... Anyway I thought I would ask If they have been purposefully removed?
Now This also led me onto a very small suggestion please don't nobody kill me but I started thinking about aviation and lights in clouds, plane strobe lighting and what I have ended up with as a realism suggestion effect on this shot.
Seeing the engine lights glowing within the cloud as they enter it rather than disappear into it as if it is not water vapor. Very Small suggestion but I think it is also a very nice one for realism so there you go and yes I broke the rules but it was a very small one and I meant only a good deed by it no harm.
Great to hear that it's still being chipped away at.
The road to hell is paved with good intentions. :p
That shot no longer exists in ESB:R ;)
Man!!!! I get more and more excited about this project, can not wait!!!!

Looking at the special edition and original shots, i can't see any spire lights , flashing or stationary ( apart from one spire in the original having a couple of lights at the base, but that matte is no longer being used in revisited anyway).

I'm pretty sure he's referring to the Nebulon B Frigate, which is custom made. But you're right, the rest of the ships are official releases, which only confirms the quality of the frigate, since it doesn't stick out as fan made.

Yes only the McQuarrie Matte has it and only one of them so it is totally inconsistent and obscure. But It was the original intention so It's no big deal but it also makes a lot of sense given the environment and was obviously considered perhaps they never got around to adding this in the rest of the shots. all on same matte one with double light flash red and one with white flash hexagon and the spinning top has lights around it's fat middle.
Like I said it is no big deal but I thought I would bring it up as it could possibly add more realism to the special edition aspect whilst keeping the thoughtfulness of the original and the space port aspect of Cloud City. Weird though that they did only animate this one and none of the others.
I also thought you would enjoy putting the special edition buildings to shame in some way :)
I am also a bit surprised that you removed that shot of ships flying through the clouds so I am wondering what that will be like :) I am sure it looks a lot better given the rest of the skies we have seen so far.
