"77" or 5-25-77

Does anyone here have any updates on this movie?  I was looking forward to it for a long time and it seems like the release went from imminent to it's just never coming out.  I know Pat Johnson took it on the road a few years back, it's a shame I didn't hear about it in time to get to Austin to see it.

Where were you in '77?

Wow, I can still remember, I wanna say it was early 2006 (maybe '05) when I first heard about this and Fanboys, which was also delayed but eventually released on dvd on TPM's 10th anniversary. 5/25/77 was supposed to be done in time for the 30th anniversary, IIRC. I wonder if there's been any progress since the road tour.

The fundraising campaign he started only managed to raise a little over 800 dollars of the 20,000 dollar goal.

I'm not sure about the fate of the film but he did manage to turn the road tour into a documentary. You can watch the trailer for it here.

No idea about the release date for that but I would sure like to see both someday.

With today's Kickstarter craze he could easily finance a release, Blu-ray production and all that...

It raised over $18,000. But the fundraiser was to fund his "road trip" and not to finish the film. he says he needs $500k to do that

Here's what he wrote after the the fundraiser finished:

Thanks to the generosity of family, friends, and fans from around the world, the "Hearts of Dorkness" Tour has done exactly what we hoped it would do-- and more! We are now in discussions with a major distributor who asked to see the film BECAUSE of the publicity generated by the TIFF NEXT WAVE screening. And the TIFF screening only happened because the people behind it noticed internet coverage of the "Hearts of Dorkness" Tour. And THAT only happened because of YOU. And so the time has come to end THIS campaign. But that doesn't mean we don't still need support! Morgan Flores is in the early stages of editing her feature length documentary of the journey,"HEARTS OF DORKNESS: The Road to 5-25-77". (for more info visit: http://www.heartsofdorkness.com) And I am suiting up for the final "Death Star Trench Run" to bring "5-25-77" to THEATERS EVERYWHERE!Look for NEW campaigns to help with both efforts, soon! THANK YOU, AGAIN, FOR ALL YOUR SUPPORT!

But this was posted May 2013 and nothing since.

Huh.

So <a href="https://fundrazr.com/campaigns/1JIQb">the fundraiser</a> Ady linked ended on May 17th 2013, while <a href="https://fundrazr.com/campaigns/dWba4">the one that I had found</a> was launched on May 31st 2013.

That's really strange. Why start another one so soon?

I noticed in the comments that they had passed the $1000 mark, yet its only saying now they reached $800.
People must have pulled their donations since they never heard back.
