Guys, if we stop talking about the extra frame, I promise it will go away.
Simple enough. :) Thanks Feallan. I'll dig up MKVMerge and give it a whirl.
It’s really sad when the “creative minds” behind something we hold dear are also guilty of its destruction.

FYI, if you're noticing/fixing advanced audio by using the audio delay feature of your AVR, the value may not be correct. i.e. if your display delays video by 80ms on its own (which would not be unheard of), you may be able to add an audio delay of 50ms on your AVR to make it go away--because that brings it into the realm of an unnoticeable mismatch, not because 50ms was the amount the audio was actually advanced.
I'm not picking on you, I have no idea how you determined 50ms for yourself--it's the "plenty of other videos" part that made me think of this. But any time someone says they can hear a 10-20ms sync difference, you can bet it's because they set 10-20ms on their AVR to make it go away, not because they can actually detect a difference that small.

^This.
I've noticed it before, I just never said anything because there isn't a way to fix it without altering either the audio or video to account for it.
It is visible, but certainly not as much as a 2 frame difference would be. If you're not looking for it, it won't ruin the film. The GOUT itself may not necessarily be perfectly synched between audio and video at all times.
Next time we put something out, I want to make sure there aren't any errors, for the sake of being as professional about these things as possible.
Done.

Just to be clear, do you recommend adding the 42ms delay to all the audio tracks in ESB in MKVmerge?
I forgot which thread I was in; the part about not being able to fix it was in reference to the first movie. For ESB, yeah, 41.7 milliseconds of delay should do the trick.
Of course, that may render you unable to keep seeding the torrent, but . . .

I meant watching with MPC on my computer, but yes plenty of videos where applying a 50ms delay fixed the problem. Just my best guess of what I could actually notice.

Just signed up to say thanks for all your work on this Harmy. It's incredible. Utterly incredible. Keep up the good work man!

Just had another look at the comparison gallery:

I noticed that the middle "tile" beneath Vader was darker in the gout.
May have been discussed before, if so I apologize :P

Oh, wow, never noticed that.
*Feels instantly cooler for being able to contribute something*

You see it darker? I see it darkless. And even Vader black costume seems darkless to me.
Darkless is an interesting word :)
But he wasn't talking about the window - that has been noticed before - he was talking about the floor panels. In the original, only the floor panel Vader's standing on is brighter, whereas in the SE, the next one's brighter as well - I wonder what was the point of that change - if anything, it would have made sense to make them all the same.

Oh, right, on the floor. I see it now, sorry.
Seems rather pointless to me to!

To me, the SE shot looks like there are lights on in the raised part of the ceiling. I actually kinda like it that way now that I see it...
But it is SE, so it has to go!

I tried adding a 41.7ms delay using mkvmerge but it won't accept it. Says it's invalid. If I round it up to 42ms it works. Am I missing something or will mkvmerge not allow decimal delay values?
You're not missing anything. You did the right thing.

Ok thank you!
Something I noticed in Empire: Right as Luke and R2 enter Cloud City (at about 1:37:28) the sky in the background darkens after a little less than a second. I don't have the GOUT DVD so I can't check, but was this something in the original version, or was it just something in the Despecialized version?
The Person in Question
I remember someone mentioning that before; I think Harmy missed it. It is a bit jarring, isn't it?
