Pretty sure it was Season 21. I remember Peter Davison in Warriors of the Deep. (Of course Season 22 may also have been up against The A-Team.)

Yeah that is right season 21 was up against it too,D'oh!

For some reason season 22 is the one that is famous for being up against the A-Team despite the fact that season 21 was too,I have no idea why.

In Northern Ireland when Star Wars came out I remember all kids in my year were into Star Wars, the same as Jaws etc,....even the hard kids used to collect the Topps cards.....skinheads etc,....Star Wars wasnt nerdy,......nothing too technical.....just shoot em up & explosions

I remember in the queue at the cinema for SW & Empire, all ages in line... adults & kids, elderly & couples.....I remember seeing my Minister & his 2 daughters

Nerds liked Star Trek & Doctor Who,.....you wouldn't admit to liking them or you'd get the piss taken out of you

ROTJ seamed different,.....well I was 15 by then,.....but I dont think it was as cool to like it

.......but now,....right now,...In my workplace, I wouldn't mention Star Wars,...I would get looked at strange, like c'mon....an adult liking a childs film?

The Prequels & the EU (well all the unecessary technical over explaining stuff) have turned Star Wars into Star Trek

....but I'm happy with the bits that Disney has tweaked since buying the franchise

...Star Wars geeks could not get girls back then like they can now.

 That's hilarious!

Obiwankennerobi, have you considered maybe YOU were the problem?

I fear you may be on to something. I've been given strange looks and a bit of ribbing for some of my interests that differ from what some consider "the norm", but I've never been given any real grief from it nor has it ever hurt my chances with the ladies. That kinda thing is usually down to your personality than your interests.

It was pretty much the other way for me.

If anyone declared a dislike for Star Wars they were considered outsiders, weirdos, freaks of nature etc, etc.

I remember one girl was foolish to criticise some smaller boys for bringing their Palitoy figures into school and called them 'dolls' (presumably to induce a gender panic) and the teacher told her to shut up because they were, Star Wars characters, rather than because it was mean to use Freudianism to try and freak out smaller children.

One Kenyan woman once moaned about them, "being for children" when I showed Star Wars to an Indian friend of mine who had never seen them before but that was in the early nineties.

in the 70s and 80s Star Wars was pretty much universally loved, in my experience even by none sci-fi geeky types. The queues around the block for the SEs were full of the now grown up children of the 70s and 80s taking their kids or nieces and nephews to experience what they loved back then.

It was pretty much the prequels that ended that.

ROTJ had it's detractors in the day and I didn't love it as much as the first two but TPM was the first Star Wars film to be openly derided and to be considered 'uncool'.
