I never played with G.I Joes when i was a kid but I did have a lot of Star Trek and Spiderman action figures and they would not exist without him and G.I Joe so this makes me sad.

Herb Jeffries, the "Bronze Buckaroo". Also famous for singing with Duke Ellington for many years. He turned 100 last year.
I had the good fortune of backing Jeffries up for a weekend at a jazz festival back in 1989. He was not only an astounding singer and consummate professional, he also was extremely kind and patient with us. He announced me as "one swinging drummer", a compliment I'll never forget from such a legendary singer.
Here is a clip I posted several years ago from that weekend:

What a voice! Hard to believe that at 75, he still had 25 more years of a career ahead of him. His biggest hit was "Flamingo"... he joked that he sung that tune so many times he could sing it on one leg.

Bottom, Blackadder, Dangerous Brothers, New Statesmn, Drop Dead Fred, Young Ones etc etc. He made me laugh so many times and for that I thank him. My thoughts go out to the son he leaves behind...

He hasn't been well for a while now. Though I wouldn't be surprised to find out he has faked his death and will continue working as Greg Davies while wearing stilts.
The fictional Alan B'stard dies but the reality lives on.
I may have to watch Mr Jolly Live Next Door just to take the edge off this news.
Very sad to hear this,
I used to record The Young Ones on audio tape before we could afford a VHS!
Knew every line

That's it - 2014 is my new annus horribilis. Rik was my idol! ;,(
Ol’ George has the GOUT, I see.
So Fred dropped dead.
Poor b'stard.
Seriously, great memories of The Young Ones and Bottom. He was a great comedy talent.

I loved that show when MTV ran it back in the 80's. We should all watch a video nasty tonight.

Very sad news about Rik Mayall. R.I.P.
.......still can't understand why there's a pic of Greg Davies in your post Ryan.....scratches head
J
I kind of hinted at it in my post :-D
Maybe I should have typed WRONG PHOTO!
It's possible the recently late Rik Mayall might just get a second number one single in the UK charts. People are trying to get his 'Noble England' song from 2010 (It didn't chart at the time) up to the topper-most of popper-most in time for the World Cup. It's basically that there speech from that 'Henry V' set to music and it's very funny...
Rik Mayall's Noble England (Video)
I'm not sure that most Football fans will get the joke and just take it at face value but hey it'd be cool to hear Rik (and William Shakespeare) on Radio1.
