I remember those DVD menus being such a tease. They even fixed Luke's lightsabre in ANH on the menu version of him training with the remote, and still ignored it in the film itself.

The sound effect they prepared for the sky train that flys under the landing platform can be heard in the menu but not In the film. I was thinking one would have to be created if that was to be attempted. I have now just watched the cloud city menu and they went to the bother of creating a sound effect for the sky train but either decided not to put it in the film or they forgot.

Needless to say I am really looking forward to cloud city, that pic looks great.

No more from me now. But I am excited still and I am not watching any more star wars until this edit get's released how ever long that will be.

Amazing and beautiful work there Ady! Thank you for sharing that image.

I have two humble thoughts about it..

First: Judging how the light is hitting the Slave 1 (looks perfect btw!), wouldn't the landing pad towards the front of the craft be lit a little more? Behind the ship would still be masked in shadow, so that part is just fine.

Second: I LOVE the enhanced sunsetting background, really helps with the mood of this scene, but I'm wondering was it best to have that dark cloud right behind the people at that instant? Artistically, it kind of diminishes their silhouette as opposed to the original where they "pop out" more. Maybe bring that cloud back a bit so it doesn't get behind them yet? I can understand the reasoning though if it was intended to help hide any of the difficult-to-remove black lines around them. Or perhaps it's just fine when seen in motion.

I'm just amazed that Ady has addressed countless "obscure" fixes before anybody mentions them.  Who's helping m spot these?  Honestly, the Slave 1 error was the first I've ever heard about it, and yet Ady already had a fix for it.

As part of the production team, you'd think we're constantly feeding him "obscure" fixes, but he finds & fixes all these on his own.

I shall not be chastised for asking what everyone who knows about ESB:R is is thinking about given future events. So sayeth I!

ESBR will not be released on made-up free-advertising terrible-pun day. Of that I can assure you.

Yeah, I myself am hoping to release v2.0 of Empire on the anniversary of its premiere - that sounds like a better date for any ESB release to me :-)

I'm personally going to try my utmost to release my new Star Wars Semi-Specialised edition on Star Wars Day. I think DJ is planning to release his Star Wars '97 SE on that day as well.

It really shows how bad of a job they did editing this film seeing as how it's taking so long for Ady to fix all these errors. Oh well. ESB Despecialized 2.0 will hold me over until then.

The original artists for the 1980 release were up against the wire but by 1997 they had time to take notes.

I seem to recall some nerds had already written magazine articles on the continuity errors and more 'in your face' flip shots so there was very little excuse if they were serious about giving us special editions but they weren't and still are not. How many massages have these films had since 1997? Instead they have added more dren and left in some from the past.

They probably took a great deal of care but errors happen in all movies, with no relationship between the amount of errrors, to how great the film is. It's just that we watch these 3 movies a hundred times more often than other films, so we spot more. People are employed on film crews with the sole job of trying to minimise these errors.

That is true, but this project was started 6 years ago...I'm just saying it's sad that a fan is doing better at editing a film than people in the industry.

I guess you mean more the SE team, than the original ESB team. Even so, I thought Adywan wasn't changing a single edit (As far as I'm aware?). The editing is and was perfect IMO.

I don't know where to start in how much I love that video. Probably my favorite addition, was the large amount of ships leaving Cloud City. That's something I didn't think of, and wasn't expecting. I also want to bonk myself on the head for not thinking of it.

I also absolutely love the new sabers. They have the flicker and flat out hot look of the originals, while having consistent cores.

Sorry to go off like a fan boy.

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas
