Here's a headline I didn't expect to read.

^Makes me wonder how long it'll be before artificially grown ovaries and uterus' come along.
Two beautiful sites in the sky tonight: a lovely full moon that will be eclipsed; and my nearby mountain range on fire. We had a very large fire in those same mountains not too long ago, and it affected the entire area dramatically. Hopefully this one in its early stages never gets so large as the last.
I'm sick of Superior Spider-Man. I didn't like the idea from the beginning and it hasn't won me over at all. Marvel, just bring Peter back from the dead already. I'm sure they're waiting, so that Peter Parker's return co-indices with the release of the new film.
"Almost there..."
You are still reading Spiderman comics? You are a braver man then I. I gave up after that One More day and civil war garbage.

I dunno how old you are or how long you were a reader of Spider-man, but I've been reading long enough to have been through worse than One More Day.
Clone saga anyone?
"No, thanks."
Just checking.
I never give up on characters I like. When dealing with comics, especially ones that have been around for as long as Spider-Man, I look at the big picture rather than each individual story. There are probably more periods of Spider-Man that I hate than periods I like, but the overall story and character of Spider-Man is something I love.

Truth be told, I love Ben Reilly and still consider him my Spider-Man. His death was the main reason I eventually stopped reading and collecting the comics.

I love the Crimson Spider as well, but as far as storytelling, One More Day was far more interesting and better told than the overly convoluted Clone Saga.
Also, OMD way only 4 issues long. CS took three years! Were you buying those issues as they were released or did you read it all at once after it was over? I was there issue by issue waiting and hoping for that thing to become more interesting. It never did.
The Crimson Spider was cool though. Very cool. And Ben was a decent character. The arc had it's moments. But not three years worth of moments.

I was around for that but Spiderman selling his marriage to the devil was the last straw. For me Peter Paker and Mary Jane had always been married and for the editors to just say that relationship didn't matter and to undo it in such a stupid way was too big of an insult for me to take. It's like they were saying "Hey this relationship that you have cared about for as long as you could read,it doesn't matter and you were an idiot to be invested in it." All those times when the worst happened and we heard Peter say something along the lines of "Well at least I still have Mary Jane" undone. it was so stupid because it was hamfisted and I bet if he had asked Aunt May she would have never let him make that deal.
The Clone Saga I could get through because the characters and their relationships stayed intact but after One more day none of those mattered and I knew that any second magic could just come out of nowhere and change everything and that the basic motivations of the characters and what they cared about could change on a dime. So for me there was no reason to stick around. i couldn't invest in the stories because there would be no logic to them and I couldn't invest in the characters and their relationships because I knew all of those would be undo each time an editor wanted a big event. Really I could go on for hours and hours about why One more day killed Spiderman for me and got me to stop reading the comics after 15 years but I really don't want to go into a long debate. If anyone one is interested in my point of view on One more day and why it is my most hated story in all of fiction I will leave a link to Linkara's review here. He says most of what I would say. I will just add this Spiderman comics are one of the first things I ever read as a kid and Peter Parker and Mary Jane's relationship was the only one I ever got invested in. Also I have always liked seeing characters age and deal with the new issues that come from that rather then staying stuck in place. Also they undid Spidergirl and I think that was an awful thing to do to her fans. To me it just showed that all the editors care about is their own grimdark story telling that they think is adult and they don't care about the characters at all. So I stopped reading. Again I don't want to get into a debate about this because to this day thinking about this makes me so depressed and nothing anyone can say will ever change my mind. This is something that literally hurts my feelings that is how attached I was to these characters so even if you can come up with some logical reason why I should move passed it that will not change my mind because the emotional pain over rules that. To me that does way more damage then a storyline that went on for too long and had some stupid twists in it. At the end of the day the characters weren't damaged beyond repair at the end of the Clone Saga, but they were in One More day and One more day didn't have a single moment I liked in it. Clone Saga was stupid but it still had some good character moments and action scenes and I think the writers were trying to do the right thing for the characters even if they did drop the ball, I don't feel that way about One more day.
Wow I went on way longer then I intended to,sorry.
Any way if you want to understand how i feel here is the link.

That's Scarlet Spider, not Crimson Spider. =P
You're right, though, about the length and overall quality of the Clone Saga. Having re-read a fair amount of the Clone Saga in recent years, it's easier for me to spot the bad writing now than it was when I originally read it as a kid. Too bad executive meddling caused the storyarc to be dragged out far longer than was originally planned.

I understand how you feel and I agree OMD was stupid and insulting. That's why I made the comment about the big picture VS individual stories. The nonsense introduced in OMD will be written over and forgotten soon enough. As I said, I figure things will go back to normal around the time they release Amazing Spider-Man 2.

Ack! You're right, of course. I had the Crimson Ghost on my mind I guess.
The Clone Saga sucked, but look at what happened after that. Things went back to normal and the stories got good again for a time. I'm sure the same will happen in the wake of One More Day.
God I hope so...
I hope you are right because I would like to be able to read Spiderman comics again without feeling sad and facepalming.
I'd probably be an alcoholic if I could afford to buy hard booze on a regular basis.
Whoever came up with the phrase "the icing on the cake" must have eaten nice cake. In my experience, the icing becomes entirely too necessary on most cake to be considered "the icing on the cake", even though it is literally the icing on the cake.
As someone who bakes and cooks a lot I will just say that if you make a cake right without over doing the sugar(Like most store bought cakes and mixes)then it is great all on it's own and the icing is just that icing and it is not needed. I am pretty sure that is where the phrase comes from.
Warning to all middle managers, the space goat approaches.
Board Ark B immediately.
If only,if only.
Like freshly baked bread and roasted coffee beans the smell of ironing is one of those unique long-lasting fill the house smells that are actually rather nice.
It's also cheaper than joss-sticks but somehow not as mysterious as the enigma of the magic tree but then what is?
I love Anchorhead's new avatar.
Alan Rickman totally could have played Vincent Price in a biopic about the famous horror actor back in the '90s/early '00s. Unfortunately, he's probably too old now.

Strange that someone would go to all the effort to bury a load of video games out in the middle of the desert.
It was allegedly Atari's worst selling game, and the company was eager to be rid of unsold stock that cost money to store. Videogames didn't end up in the dollar store back then. I recall stores where stuff gathered dust for years.
Ironically, the E.T. game released for Atari Home Computers a bit later on actually was pretty good.

... I knew about this but I thought it was just a historical fact. Feels weird to me to have it listed as an urban legend... I'm not sure why but I just thought it was a fact not a myth all along... Now it feels like it's a fact actual fact fact thing since it's listed as a "legend confirmed". To me it feels like someone is trying to make sure people remember this fact. I don't know just feels weird for me personally... Anyways nice to know they found it though!SilverWook said:

I do recall seeing mention of it in magazines of the day, but the actual source of the information was always obscure. (I doubt anyone involved was going to let pictures be taken back then.) As there seem to be other Atari items buried there, it would be interesting if some prototype games or hardware was found.
A similar story circulated a decade ago regarding Image Entertainment dumping their last remaining Laserdisc stock into a landfill.
