It still surprises me that Shatner is that old. He looks like he's in his sixties, not his eighties.

Perhaps it's not a real chair at all and they had to cut the frame there to preserve the 4th wall.

The man is 83 years old and still going strong. Harrison is a whole 12 years younger than this man and you're already ready to relegate Han Solo to the old folks home?

Yeah, it's funny that, considering all of the Star Trek movies revolve around the central theme of him being too old and the constant jokes about the cast being past it, that he has aged so well.

People are different though. Some are fit and healthy in their 80' while others are already a wreck in their 60'. I am not saying Harrison doesn't look well... just saying that you can't just generalise.

Don't treat that walker quip too seriously, but the thing is the guy is 70, he looks his age, and because of that he won't be able to convincingly pull off some of the things he would've been able to pull off thirty years ago.
Plus, if Han Solo is going to be a significant part of the new Star Wars movie... I'll put it this way: I think it's highly unlikely it's going to be a slow plot and character-driven drama as opposed to a hyperactive action movie, and we've all seen that Crystal Skull abomination. I don't want Ford's character to be relegated to the corner during every action scene, and I don't want a dodgy stand-in (be it a real person or a CGI model) jumping all over the place either.
I have little faith in the project, I know.

Han can still be a deadly shot with a blaster and fly the Falcon. (He really doesn't get into the kind of body bruising scenarios Dr. Jones does.) We had this gal in a deleted scene from ROTJ after all...

Possibly. I suppose it all comes down to the fact that I've got trouble picturing Han Solo in a movie along the lines of those Star Trek reboots.

Of all the deleted material I've seen from the OT, it's that little roll of alternate Rebel Fighter footage from Jedi, I'd most like to have been in the films. An old lady and a Mon Cal pilot would have added nicely to that "The Rebellion is an equal opportunities employer" thing.

Maybe that's precisely why it didn't make the final cut. There's a quote in The Making of ROTJ (I'll find it later) where someone asked GL if the uniforms and sets for the Rebel fleet shouldn't be more beaten up and distressed. Lucas answered that the Rebels actually had superior equipment compared to the Empire, and that's why they ended up winning the civil war.
Go figure.

My take is the Mon Calamari haven't been openly part of the Rebellion until recently, (we don't see them at all in ESB) so their ships aren't as battle worn as what we've already seen.
Unless things have been going badly for a long time before Episode VII begins, I don't expect the good guys to have ships in rough shape.

I think his reasoning was that they wouldn't have been a convincing threat otherwise which I think is pretty dumb considering the nature of the story he's telling.
It's kind of funny that at the same time he thought using Ewoks the way he did was totally fine, but I guess it makes sense in a weird way.

It is, assuming it's not a George Lucas PT movie. I like movies that take their time. Look at ESB: it's very slow, especially if you compare it to modern action flicks. That's a good thing because of what maintaining that kind of pace allows you to do. You couldn't have written that movie around frenetic action beats every five minutes. Luke fighting a dozen Sith Lords on Dagobah (because nothing's happened action-wise for several minutes already at that point, and we can't have that) would've ruined those scenes.
