Once in a while I get asked to sign one of these online petition things and I thought it might make sense to have a thread for sharing the ones you care about or think may be of interest to other OT.Com users.
To get the ball rolling here is one probably aimed more at people in the UK but I guess anyone in the world could voice their opinion on how the UK Government should act regarding this barbaric practise.
I liked the petitions to ban twooffour and Father Skywalker.
Another mostly UK based one (it's what I get sent).
I signed this one. Doubt if it will do anything other than pressurise the Ugandans into being even more stupid and evil, why my money should go to there in the form of aid is beyond me.
I signed a local petition to keep a murderer who murdered a (random) black person (that he'd never met) in prison.
He had been heard saying with his friends "Let's get us a nigger" and they killed a random black guy they found, not knowing he was actually a very upstanding member of the community. (not that that's all that odd, but to his mind he probably couldn't imagine it).
And this was in the 60's/70's, so I'm actually quite proud of my hometown for putting him in jail instead of just letting it go as was quite common back then. (Not here, but in other areas of the country at that time)
So, if you are convicted of being gay then you get sent to prison.
A place full of men where bum sex is rife.
And this is supposed to be a punishment?

They do beat you up a bit during the capture and interrogation stages, separate you from your family and friends, deny you of your liberty BEFORE putting you in a position of being raped by someone with AIDS. But yeah, what are they thinking?
This isn't just for gay people mind. Anyone attending a gay wedding, anyone speaking up for gays, anyone showing signs of affection towards people of the same gender all get the same sentence.

Waste of time, the little fuckers have probably all drowned now.

Lately I have signed sevberal dozen, especially making one for Dredd 2, some video games and movies. Is no big loss. Is smart or idiotic in some case but what can you do except for wish for miracle?

US law isn't international law and I doubt if it would pass.
If it passes, though, other countries could follow suite. That's what I'm worried about.

I signed it. They do enough prying outside of the law .... why give them even legal space to do it in.
