It's exactly like that time the Berlin Wall came down.
Take note of this. Frink was INVITED PERSONALLY to Legacy. ;-)

... only this is much more important historically.
Oh and by the way, in this analogy, I'm an East German Female Weightlifter.
...
I'm really showing my age now.
HA!
Oh, for new members: stuff is being moved around and reorganized, so you might see threads shrinking/growing, disappearing, etc. It's all going to the Reel-by-Reel breakdown. For now, feel free to hunt a bit.

Is all the old content still there? I loved the videos you used to have up.
Oh yes, no deletions. In fact, most stuff is still in the "Mind Probe" area.

I missed part of it but there was a lot of good stuff in there. It made me wonder if its possible to simulate, side by side, the differences in the look of an IB print vs. an ideal opening day Kodak print.
The fact that all the hundreds of crawls were chopped off and replaced in 81 is pretty crazy. I guess it explains why they had an original lying around for the 2006 DVD, they must have a box of them. Although I picture GL wearing them like the severed ear necklace in Universal Soldier.

It's hard for me to imagine that NONE of those made it out of that lab somehow. If I worked there and they were cutting off elements and tossing them in the trash I surely would have taken one as a souvenir, even if it were for a movie that I wasn't some superfan of. Did they have armed guards there watching? There must be one somewhere...

Well I absolutely promise the next one will have lots more video :)
One request, though, guys, for all the Obvious Reasons, please don't repeat what you've heard here, publicly. Pretty please. With sugar on top.
^Just bringing this to the next page as a reminder guys.
You probably don’t recognize me because of the red arm.
Episode 9 Rewrite, The Starlight Project (Released!) and ANH Technicolor Project (Released!)
Thanks for showing this again. I missed the very beginning because I didn't expect this to happen at all (not to mention as soon as it did), but the rest was pretty enlightening and not boring at all. Worth watching, no question about it.
I'm kind of hoping the entire process is being documented in some way. Not just because it is incredibly fascinating (it is to me, but I may be insane), but mainly for its historical significance. The stories about obtaining the sources, making deals and all that alone would've been worthy of a book (or something to that effect) if this operation ever reaches a point where revealing those crunchy details will be possible. I hope it does. Anyway, have you considered that?
Yep, way ahead of you. :)

This is almost too good to be true :) I'm really glad to hear (or see, I suppose) that.
I'm curious about one more thing, though it's not related to Star Wars: have you seen the Blade Runner restoration? What did you think of it quality-wise?
To me, the quality of a restoration is always measured as the delta between a source and its presentation. "It looks good," is an arbitrary statement. The question is, "Does it look like it did?" Surely the Blade Runner restoration is very nice, minus the usual, unavoidable compression artifacts inherent in the medium. I mean, you can't get around that, anymore than an audio CD is simply no match for the studio masters. So from a "just watching it" standpoint, I love it. From a restoration standpoint? I have no idea - let's see the negative :)

ugh, i'm fighting a cold and accidentally slept through it and can't stay up for the next one. is there any reason this can't be posted somewhere where it's available to watch any time for members or something? Kind of like how teamnegative1 posts password protected vids that can be watched at any time? Even if there was a cutoff, like, you can watch it any time from now to one week from now or something.
The bit I'm especially curious about is what Lucasfilm has to say/think about ot.com...
Yes, it'll be going to Vimeo, it's just a long upload. Stay tuned, keep checking the Legacy forums for updates on when it's up.

awesome
If I may ask what software were you using for the vid? I thought it was neat how you could show video and then cut back to cam like that.
I use Wirecast 5 Pro by Telestream.

If you're talking about the original negative then it probably doesn't look like the Final Cut, mainly because it's not just a restoration and there's some very obvious changes present that are supposed to reflect the director's original vision (here's this argument again, heh). Like the blue-green tint, to name one example. It's a bit of a complex case and I was wondering how you feel about it considering what you're doing (and, more importantly, won't be doing) with Star Wars.
