The idea that this guy was a good Anakin is insane. And so that last panel stands.

Jesus... expressing the opinion that Hayden was okay as Anakin isn't the same as saying the PT is good and the OT sucks. Thems be fightin' words round these parts pardner ;-)

And Hayden is great in that scene you posted btw. Wether you think Anakin should say those words or have done those things is neither here nor there, as I'm talking about the performance.

I would like you to find at least one scene in the PT (or anything Hayden has done) that can compare to this performance.

I hate to be that "negative" guy again... but there is a reason why these (imo bad) designs did not make it past the drawing board.

And that might be part of what went wrong with the prequels. Lucas reused old concepts, even those that were dropped for a reason.

Finally some non-Force Sensitives!

Zeb looks sweet. He's definitely going to be the source of lots of laughs and badass moments. It's nice to see that he's not an outright copy of any previous characters that come to mind.

Sabine is cool, too, actually. Like Zeb, she's mostly her own thing. Pretty original character. Not your standard Boba Fett/Jango Fett clone (puns!) or post-Traviss Mary-Sue badass warrior god Mando, not super serious soldier type, not pacifist New Mandalorian or Death Watch sinister evil. Just a fun, normal character, which reminds us that there's diversity for these people still.

So far, these are the two characters I'm most interested in. I'm glad they've revealed them now, because with all the Jedi talk it's been kinda hurting my hopes for the show. Now I'm definitely back to feeling really good about it.

Keep Circulating the Tapes.

Well, can't say she doesn't fit DisneyXD's target audience -- that dumb name has always implied silly shenanigans and hardcore-ness.

I must admit, I do have reservations but as of now I'm still of the wait-and-see mentality; however, that's mostly because Weisman is involved.  Ignoring his poor luck in keeping a show on the air, he's proven he can do great cartoons that appeal to everyone.

You mean one as badly written and badly (CGI) acted, poorly paced, ill thought out, horribly designed and boringly directed as that was ^... sure there are lots in the PT. But honestly the voice acting in that scene was very poor and dreadfully cheesy.

But seriously you want me to pick a scene that's slightly less cr*p than all the other cr*p scenes in a cr*ppy movie to compare to another cr*p scene from a cr*p TV show? I don't think my brain can cope with sorting the subtle gredations of cr*pitude.

If Hayden had got a decent script, a decent story and a decent director/editor on AOTC and ROTS then yes I'm saying he woud have been great as young Anakin. Try to see past the terrible dialogue, watch a scene with the sound off where he's acting with just his eyes. Little moments like when his voice cracks and he stumbles over his words as he's talking to his dying mother are ignored because all one can remember from that scene is awful dialogue like "Now I am complete". If Hayden had been allowed to play Anakin all the way through with the same subtlety we'd have some very different films. But Lucas could never trust the actors he'd hired so he had Hayden simply state what he is feeling like "I shouldn't have done that" and "I don't understand".

If Hayden is a terrible actor because of the script in the PT then Samuel L. Jackson is a terrible actor too.

That was actually an understatement. Hayden was great as Anakin. He portrayed the character exactly the way it was written, i.e. extremely unlikable, annoying, whiny jerk. He even added a little bonus repulsiveness with his acting.

Sorry to double post but I didn't want this to get lost in the last post:

Introducing Sabine....

A female Mandalorian graffiti artist who wears pink armour ...

Star Wars armour remade in Pink... where have I seen that before...?

While I am a bit tired of the inane "spunky, feisty, sassy" female character type, I think she could definitely have merit, especially since Dave is definitely good at developing characters.

LOL. I admit, you had me going there. I thought you were actually serious at first.

I think that with a competent director, with a decent script, Hayden can deliver an adequate performance. He's no great thespian, though, and probably never will be.

There's nothing wrong with the design. It happens to be my second favorite concept figure behind the McQuarrie Vader. I actually wanted Kenner to make this when I was a kid. Only took three decades...

If Lucas had not seen the July 1975 issue of Analog magazine, it might have been a different story.

And yes, that cover is where my handsome visage comes from. ;)

He was quite good in Awake, made right after ROTS. Frink can back me up on this. ;)

Can we take the Hayden stuff elsewhere now?

Hmm, the wookiee design comes from a story written by George R.R. Martin? Too bad that guy never went anywhere.

I've seen Awake, and that's where my perception of him as an adequate actor comes from (if I hadn't seen the movie, my perception of him would be much less).

Here's Hera!

Pretty sure this polishes off the main cast. Nice to see a female lead, actually. She's definitely our "Leia Proxy", but more like Leia and Han together, in a way.

I dig her. Can't wait to see more.

That's more like it :-) That character sounds interesting, first positive thing this week.

If this show is more about an uncoventional family... that just happen to live in space during a time of rebellion, then this could really work. I don't really care what adventures/stories take place, as long as we care about who is having them.

Are you saying that the Mandalorian graffiti artist in the pink armour does nothing for you? ;-)
