Let's hope this means that Killiks don't exist anymore.

I hope you're right about them being prototypes, as they seem to be taking a giant step backwards in articulation.
Well, they've moved onto "Tiers" if you want. As of now, there are three.
The basic figures articulate like the old Power of the Force ones I grew up with: basically head, shoulder, legs. The "Basic" Black Series (normal size) figures articulate like their most recent series: head, shoulder, elbow, forearms, wrists, thighs, knees, feet, et cetera. And then the "Deluxe" Black Series (the 6.5 ones) have all kinds of articulation.
The annoying thing about this is that the very basic tier with the crap articulation costs about as much now as the older series figures that have as much articulation as the "Basic" Black Series figures do.

What was the point of making everything look McQuarrie accurate if the animation is going to look this cheap and awkward?
You probably don’t recognize me because of the red arm.

I'm going to watch, but so far I've witnessed childish comedy, a Kyle Katarn clone, lightsabers, an alien in a position of power within the Empire, and heightened reality physics. The "Might Suck" meter is creeping up... I sincerely hope that it's just the marketing department trying to hook the people who grew up watching the fan fic version of Star Wars from the PT era.

^ This is a joke right? This can't be the show that they were saying would evoke the look of McQuarrie's artwork? Tell me that's just a bit of unused footage from an aborted Star Wars game's FMV from the 90s?
What are they rendering this show with, an N64 using the 'Ocarina of Time' engine?
I take that back... you know what, the 15 year old Zelda ^ actually looked better.
VIZ TOP TIPS! - PARENTS. Impress your children by showing them a floppy disk and telling them it’s a 3D model of a save icon.
I'm going to assume the animation is still very unfinished at the moment , like most teasers for anything. Notice how few real shots there are, and how basic they look. It's not coming out till fall so they have some time. Plus they only had animatics in the character videos, so I'm kinda surprised they'd try to make teasers yet.
And, I think the marketing is just doing a crap job. The final arc of season 5 of Clone Wars was enough to have me put my full faith in this, till I'm proved otherwise. Both the physical quality (story, acting, facial animation) and aesthetic quality (animation, rendering, music) were on par with Pixar films, IMO.

Yeah, it looks like rough animation to me. Didn't they show unfinished animation for TCW episodes before?
Where were you in '77?
So far this looks far worse than TCW. Aladin, a bad copy of Kyle Katarn, another force user under Vader and Emperor (and alien on top of that), unappealing designs etc.

This show is coming out really fast if you think about how long it has been since the Disney buy out. They are probably not putting the same amount of effort into it as they did Clone Wars where everything was scrutinized.
That character design is very Disney so yeah they are already getting their influence in. Another random thought I had watching it is that Disney really only bought this property for the OT and to make quick money off of the OT. I will be very surprised if we ever see anything prequel based from Disney.
If they are using the same animation house Lucasfilm set up in Singapore, most of the pipeline was already in place for this.
Until we see more, it could go either way in terms of quality. If it's a cynical cash in, it might not last as long as TCW, once the novelty of an OT era show wears off.
Where were you in '77?
Seems to me it's going to keep the TCW look as it's a moving forward story. I'm not going to let the "teasers" make my decision for me.
I am happy to wait and see what is ahead. Too bad they couldn't do it ala HBO Spawn animation style .... that could be kinda cool.

That's why I wish all this "Star Wars on TV" stuff had happened back in the 90's, prior to the release of TPM and all the other prequels, when traditional animation was still commonly used.
I think it looked pretty good. Really good to see OT stuff on the screen again. I cannot wait to see it replace all the PT junk we have in stores now.
At the same time, literally nothing happened in the trailer, so I can't make any judgements beyond how it "felt" to me, and it felt pretty close to the OT.
I was hoping it would be a little more distinct from the Clone Wars in terms of looks, and while characters are definitely a little "softer" I can't help but think that this is prototype rendering because I don't see why they would abandon the polish they had in the Clone Wars... if you watch that in 1080p the textures look almost hand-painted in that you can almost see brush strokes on them.
It could be that they're working with a budget similar to what they were working with for early seasons of The Clone Wars and will eventually move forward from the look they have now, but, again, it's a pretty proven format so I'm not sure why they'd slash the budget.
Either way, like I said, I can't make a super solid judgement on it at this time beyond that I trust in Dave and think he did an incredible job with The Clone Wars and that I'm excited to see the OT-era back on screen again.

The crap we are seeing now is definitely not "OT stuff". At least not in my book.

Hmm ... Zeb looks like an actual cool character. If I give this show a chance, it'll probably be because of him.
Zeb's design looks like it could have been influenced by this famous art work:
http://oneonethreeeight.files.wordpress.com/2012/03/ralph-mcquarrie-21.jpg
Same pointy ears, kind of beard. Only more muscles and obviously more cartoonish.
I agree though that this show looks way more disneyish than ralph-mcquarrish for now...

He's this guy...
One thing this show has going for it over TCW is that we aren't pre-destined to hate the interpretation of these characters because they are brand new. So even if they suck at least you can't point to a film where Alec Guiness et al did them better :-D

Are...are you saying Christensen's Anakin was better than Lanter's? Ô_o

LOL
But yes actually. I liked Christensen as Anakin, not the actors fault that the script was bad. Plus McGregor had nailed Kenobi by the time of ROTS IMO (Again battling against an excrable script). I've no doubt that if Hayden and Ewan (And the rest of the PT cast) had voiced TCW it would have been improved.
