Impressive, most impressive. Thanks for that link.

Weird that they're almost the same, but one has CW while the other doesn't. Either way, this one doesn't randomly move the aspect ratio and zoom in randomly.

Yep, that's the one.  Doesn't matter, I doubt I'll use it, at least not for this edit.  Might save it for the ROT.

I vote it replaced Yub Nub.

Tried to smooth out all the audio and added a few gags.

Beautiful stuff ^ and I vote for lots more Moulin Rouge as this edit goes on :-)

Getting a lot better! I'd vote for less Airplane! material, and it would be neat if you could find a way to sort out where Shatner's crew is as opposed to the Airplane control tower crew. Since it's night in the Airplane sequence, I'd vote for having Shatner be in the destroyed tower (cut the line about only having a bridge) and having the Airplane flight controllers be somewhere else (no guy jumping out of the window). Both crews are funny on their own, but it's like they're both hanging out in the same place, which is so confusing that it kills the humor for me in places.

Allow me to take the opposite side as my friend Neverar:

Just make Episode III a mashup of the entity of both Airplane! movies. No Star Wars footage at all.

I think it's pretty clear everyone is in the tower - the original movie crew is at the top because Kramer jumps out the window, and Murdock is presumably somewhere on the ground floor because the debris falls down all around him.

I can't imagine cutting Kramer's jump, it's one of my favorite bits.

I was thinking of having R2 say something about the apparent inconsistency when Murdock's complains about not having a tower, but I didn't find a good place to put it in.  I don't want to remove that part because I love the door gag.

I hadn't planned on using the singing when it was sent to me, but I may try to incorporate more now.  Having Padme and Obi singing to each other about love might fit in nicely with Ani's fall to the dark side.

Having said that, it's *really* difficult to make it look like talking actors are actually singing.  The eye notices the disconnect much easier than simple dialogue replacement.  I was never able to get the Dooku song to work right in AOTR, which is why it ended up as a deleted scene instead.

On the contrary I think your being over critical of your own work, I just happened to have watched the Dooku song the day before yesterday on the DVD extras and thought it worked to perfection. Maybe the funniest thing on the DVD, which made me think that extended cuts of these would be fun sometime in the future ;-)

I'd love to see Ewan/Kenobi singing 'Your Song' to Padme, even if it's just another bonus feature.

(btw I totally bought that they are all in the demolished landing strip control building, no need to change it)

If you look carefully at the tower, the windows are dark. They obviously have the solar shields deployed. That's why it looks dark outside. ;)

Shatner is clearly broadcasting from the basement of the tower.

I thought it was great. The Shatner stuff is confusing (where is he? why are there two control rooms?) but it's still funny.

 Because it's ridiculous! :p

I had an idea for the two guys to give overlapping/conflicting orders, but it was just a mess.

He's on the bridge, located somewhere below the tower, It's not that hard! ;)

The scene actually works as a spoof of crisis situations, where everybody and their granny is trying to advise, but end up only adding to the chaos and confusion.

Then perhaps there could be a pan down the tower when Shatner's part arrives, I don't know. Here's a frame cobbled together from several shots of the tower as there's no good shot of it un-destroyed, which you can use to show where the action is taking place:

Some dialogue between the teams in the tower would be funny, as they realize that neither of them are alone.

JEDIT: ^I see you already tried that.

Upon reflection, perhaps it's the bit about Shatner not having a tower that's causing the confusion?  The more I think about it the more I don't like cutting it, however, because then we lose a proper introduction to those guys.   Then again, we don't get one for McCroskey and Kramer...so...ugh, I don't know.  Rogue-theX also suggested (and volunteered) having something else playing on the TV screen before it gets tuned to Shatner, which I really like.

I had an idea of flipping the dialogue around so he's told they don't have a bridge, just a tower.  The problem there is that Shatner only says "tower" and never says "bridge."  Of course, I'm sure there's any number of Star Trek episodes and movies where he says "bridge" so maybe that's doable after all.

When I first watched this I was totally lost when the Shatner bit came on, probably because I don't know what it's from (Airplane 2, I now know), but you could smooth the transition by showing Kramer on the "computer screen" right before Shatner comes on, as if the officer was just receiving a transmission, some line like "...you'll work the relay" (taken from the control room scene of Airplane!), as if he's relaying orders to subordinates.

If you save the Superman shot for later in the movie, Shatner could be looking at the movie Enterprise blowing up, (playing off the original Airplane 2 gag) or new Kirk could be looking back at him? ;)
