I had no idea TV was demonstrated that early.   I knew the coming of TV was delayed by WWII, but didn't know it had been developed that early.

You forgot one: A.D. 1986 Shuttle Challenger exploded, killing all seven crew members.

I remember when I first heard about it.  I was in the fourth grade that year,  I eating lunch in the school cafeteria when the Principal came in and announced it.  After lunch was done and we went back to the classroom, my teacher turned on a tv to the news for a bit and we discussed it for the rest of the day.

The Space Shuttle Columbia?  That happened on Feb 1, 2003

btw, just what is your source?

Skip down to 1984. That's where I got confused. At first glance, it looked like the same thing, but I guess that was a test model or something. I should have guessed since there wasn't a mention of the shuttle being destroyed.

Wikipedia had a list of all the Shuttle Missions the Challenger did and none were launched on January 29, 1984(btw the explosion happened in 1986, not  1984)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Space_Shuttle_Challenger

The closest mission I could find to January 29,1984 was this:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/STS-41-B  but that launched on February 3, 1984

STS-41-B is listed in your link "Space Shuttle 41-B (STS-11) Challenger launched"

Nasa's own page lists mission STS-41-B as launching on February 3, 1984

http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/shuttle/shuttlemissions/archives/sts-41B.html

and I can't find any shuttle mission that launched on January 29, 1984

Nasa's own page lists the mission where the Challenger exploded as happening on January 28,1986

http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/shuttle/shuttlemissions/archives/sts-51L.html

Finally, if you look on your source on January 28 and scroll down to 1986, you'll see the Challenger explosion listed

I guess the website messed up then. They got the explosion right, but not the launch of the earlier shuttle.
