Well, he is an ageist jackass who thinks "old" methods of filmmaking (silent, B&W, 2D) are inferior to "modern" ones (sound, colour, 3D), so I doubt he's the sharpest crayon in the box.

I hope this is random enough...
I was cycling along our High Street (a small suburb of a small town in the UK) on Saturday and saw a full size R2-D2 running along the pavement next to me. Someone else saw Darth Vader, a stormtrooper and a wookiee earlier. I have no idea why they were there!!!

My theory is that George Lucas is a genius who got really sick of fanboys, so he set out deliberately to ruin Star Wars... first with the SE, and then with the PT.
...He would have gotten away with it too, if it weren't for those meddling fan-edits.

I disagree. My opinion is that Lucas took all the credit for the OT, and lived as a fraud until the Phantom Menace ended the charade.

They come off as stupid. But i think its to show how dogmatic they are and set in their ways like religious fanatics.
Morally superior and arrogant to the core.
If i did not know any better i would think it was a nod to certain Christians of the right wing political persuasion in our own country.
After all Anakin quotes Bush.

I think its far more likely the haters will go after Abrams. Like they did Lucas.
Or perhaps the fans will be split like on Abrams star trek. You know the divide between absolute loathing of Abrams, or outright worship or maybe like the average joes not give a damn and fall somewhere in the middle. Like i don't care as long as their is plenty of action and plenty of stuff blowing up and woman walking around in their underwear, the last part unlikely in a children's film.
Some so called Star Trek fans have used the same term about Abrams destroying their childhood, so why not star wars. And i suppose hot waffles will bring their song out again and replace Lucas name with Abrams.
