The ANH voice always sounded harsher to me -- not in a more realistic way, but in a poorer-recording-quality kind of way. I personally prefer the fullness and richness of the ESB and ROTJ Vader voice, but that's just my taste.

I prefer the ANH voice, but I'm a big fan of consistency and it's lot easier to change all the lines in one film rather than two, so I'd vote for tweaking ANH.

A picture is worth a thousand words. Post 102 is worth more.

I’m late to the party, but I think this is the best song. Enjoy!

I'd be happy to do the repitching for the things if that'd help.  I am an experienced audio engineer, and something like that is a piece of cake to me.  Also, it doesn't really need to be done to every line.  A lot of ESB is OK.  ROTJ is the one that is most out of line

To me it's not a matter of speed (although the fury that amount of urgency invests is good for the character), it's more the pitch that bothers me.  His voice is artificially deepened either by use of a harmonizer or slowing the tape down (I'm not sure which.  Ben Burtt doesn't return my calls).  I prefer the real voice to the phonied up one, although the helmet thing isn't really something I had entered into my equation.

It's worth experimenting with if someone has the time but to be honest I find JEJ's performance in ROTJ needs a bit of a lift as it's a bit too rumbly for my taste.

I'll take a stab at correcting a few lines of his dialogue here and there and post links to samples...see what the forum thinks

I agree with that about the recording quality.  I also prefer the richer tone of the later films.  I just don't like the artificial deepening of the voice.  Here's a sample of a few lines from the beginnings of ESB and ROTJ pitched back to JEJ's real voice.  I did this really quick, so the music is still there and there are artifacts.  Just an experiment.

Gentlemen (& Ladies?),

I'm having a great time combing through this thread and the one for ESB:R, though it's taking quite some time.

Apologies if this has already been raised before but...

Something I would love to see fixed in the HD ANH:R are the awful bobble-headed dewback riders.  Watch footage of real riding and riders.  Yes, the body can and does do a lot of adjusting with the movement of the beast one is riding but the rider generally keeps their head on a steadier horizontal swivel.  It looks patently false/unrealistic in the SE.  Almost as if they went overboard to show how much movement they could animate.  It's either that or they're unenthused and lethargically/half-wittedly carrying out orders, which doesn't read menace enough.  Even if they were scanning the ground for tracks rather than the horizon the head movement would be more controlled and not so lazily up and down.

Awaiting your feedback/comments.

(PS: Sure you guys get this all the time but I loooove Star Wars: Revisited! I won't voice my few quibbles with what is a superlative fan edit especially as it appears they've all been mentioned ad nauseam prior to this post.)

If I were to pick the "Odd" one out for Vaders voice it would be the original Star Wars not in ESB or ROTJ.

Vader clearly sounds the most different in the first film.. If anything this would be the one I would attempt to alter and leave the other two alone.

Because the bottom end is missing and some high / Mid needs taking out.

Not sure where you got ROTJ is the one that is all over the place from?

In fact his voice is not pitched differently it's a different Equalization James Earl Jones still spoke like he did they just used a different curve on his voice in ESB and ROTJ

Which was not used in STAR WARS

So, are there any plans as to whether there will be some models getting built like in ESBR??  Enhancements in that degree?!

To add to that, would there be a way to make the Dewbacks go back to their original appearance (with the elephantine feet, as opposed to the goofy frog feet)?  Hell, just adding some stubby alligator type toes would be better than what we got in the SE (apparently they used a fake Rhino for the base body, and used fur to hide the seam between the head, tail and body).

Hmm... so it appears the Empire is equal opportunity.  Who would have thought?

Vader's voice in ESB wavers at times as though he's fatigued or ill. I prefer his voice in that film to ANH, but I notice the odd, subtle fluctuations.

Hi there!

Where can I get my hands on the PAL version of this fan-edit? I've been having trouble finding it; all the torrent sites are blocked (at least for me). Also is there a PAL version of the Purist edition too?

Ol’ George has the GOUT, I see.

It's on Usenet (alt.binaries.starwars). Enjoy!

The radio drama Vader of ROTJ was better than JEJ in the film.

JEJ sounded bored or on sedatives.

^ Well, some of the time. I'm being unfair. Still think the radio drama was overall a step up.

I know, but I really have no idea how this newsgroup stuff works... hm... is anyone willing to send me a physical DVD copy?

There is a torrented copy of the PAL version available. No need for newsgroup access.

Never mind; got the NTSC ISO. Will it work if I burn it to a DVD and play it in my DVD player?

Strange.  Brock Peters sounds like that all the time to me
