I see your point except for removing Anakin's sith eyes in ROTS. His deeds in ROTS were truly evil.....I mean he slaughtered children.....Ady should keep them from Anakin seeing as the fact that he slaughtered a room full of children.

People slaughter children everyday and nobody's eyes tun yellow. It's a lame device.

I think the concept of evil deeds not only poisoning your body, but your soul to be compelling. Also I don't watch Star Wars for realism.

The appeal of fantasy rests in the illusion of its possibility. Without realism, a story is dead in the water.

Indeed fantasy should be true to itself as much as reality is in order to function.

A lot of the great scenes in the Star Wars Saga has no basis in reality. So by your logic all those scenes are garbage because of its impossibility.

Yes but they are true to the fictional universe in which they are set.

When it breaks from the established rules it Jar-Jars noticeably.

Evil deeds do indeed poison your soul much more than your physical form. Oscar Wilde's 'The Picture Of Dorian Gray' is a wonderful example of this. But this concept has nothing to do with silly yellow eyes. Again, it's a lame device used to make sure even the lowest common denominator can understand that Anikin is falling to the dark side and changing into someone evil.

Feel free to do this sort of thing whenever the urge takes you. I know six or seven people how would benefit from you explaining what I said with references and I am all of them.

I would change/expand on the events in Jabba's palace a bit differently.

  1. When Leia is first shoved up against Jabba and warns him of her "powerful friends," I'd actually show her getting licked.  When the camera cuts to Threepio saying he can't bear to watch, I'd go back and show a quick shot of Jabba licking Leia's face, then cutting back to Salacious Crumb laughing.
  2. Cut to Han and Chewie in the quarantine as normal.
  3. Show Leia, having pulled back from Jabba, being stripped of just her arms and armor, but still wearing her clothes (leather/canvas, etc.), and then show several of Jabba's dancers approaching her, and Leia looks fearfully at them.
  4. Cut to the next day (the FIRST OF TWO) and show Leia, in the gold bikini and a chain and collar, being brought in to Jabba by the other dancers.  The whole Audience Chamber cheering and hooting, making Leia very embarassed.  Have Jabba say a familiar "Bring her to me," and maybe show someone (Bib Fortuna, maybe?) bolting the chain to Jabba's throne.  Then cut back to Leia looking fearful.
  5. More of Han and Chewie.
  6. Cut to later that night.  There's a light in the sky outside the palace.  It gets brighter, and it's an X-Wing--Luke--as it comes in.  It lands near the Millennium Falcon.
  7. Back to Leia, who is facing Jabba on his throne.  He laughs, and everyone else in the Audience Camber starts laughing too.  Jabba shouts, "Da eitha," and Leia takes a heavy breath...then slowly makes herself move toward him.
  8. The NEXT-next morning, Luke arrives.  Leia's chained beside Jabba, etc.  Luke comes in, Jabba is awoken, Luke makes his threat, he gets dropped to the Rancor, etc. etc. as normal.
  9. Right after the Rancor scene finishes and Lando goes to help Luke and Han back up, Jabba slackens the chain, and Leia could gasp and cough.  He'll allow her to sit upright, then he'll drop his hand on her shoulder.  She'll shrug him off, cringing, but he'll put his hand back immediately.  Then it would cut to, "Han!" "Luke!" etc., so there's more continuity to Leia's struggle before Jabba in the seconds that follow.
  10. As everyone is boarding the Sail Barge, Jabba and a group of other onlookers (including other slaves/dancers) are all cheering and hooting.  Leia is standing before Jabba again, looking around sheepishly.  The Max Reebo band starts up a slow, slinky song, and Jabba shouts, subtitled: "Do it again!" Leia will reluctantly start to twist and wiggle her body, her face showing deeply embarrassment.
  11. On the Sail Barge, Jabba gets busy in conversation with someone, and Leia sneaks off of the throne and walks to the window.
  12. Jabba will yank on Leia's chain, and she'll come running to him and jumping up on his throne as previously filmed.  She rises before him, and Jabba says "Soon you will learn to appreciate me," but then the camera will cut down to show him hugging his arm around Leia's waist, and Bib Fortuna will let his hand go from her back.  Back to their faces, the goblet comes closer, and Leia flinches and prepares to take a sip, with a cozy-sounding chuckle from Jabba.
  13. As the skiffs and Sail Barge "park" around the Sarlaac, the scene will cut to Leia, pulling away from Jabba, looking disgusted and relieved.  He could say to her, "Stay close, my pretty," and she'll turn around on the throne to face the window.
  14. The Pit of Carkoon sequence unfolds as previously filmed.

That's what I would do differently.

I have weird friends.  You're not going to regret this.

Are we going to get some revolutionary new youthifying treatment for Carrie Fisher so we can get all this new footage?

Author
Time

No, but this is the era of digital technology, CGI, and there's a couple little somethings called stand-ins and stunt doubles.  It could be done, easily.

Isn't this about random discussion?  How does following the point of this thread make me a creep, (insert a name to indicate your unwholesome attitude here)?

No, it couldn't.

Unless you think CGI has advanced far enough to make a convincingly realistic and expressive dancing Carrie Fisher, then that's a load of crap. You can only get away with so much with cutaways and body doubles. The entirely new aspects of the scene as you've written it involves seeing Leia's face and expressions.

You're better off writing it as a vignette and posting it on FanFiction.net, Kristarwars.

I wouldn't be opposed to the idea of Luke's X-Wing entering Tattoine's orbit and landing near Ben's Hut or something like that.  Don't know if the Falcon would have been parked there either.  Oddly enough if both ships were parked out in the middle of nowhere, there would have needed to be security present just so the Sandpeople don't raid them.  Perhaps it's better that the ships were left in Mos Eisley after all then.  Now this is of course whether Luke's visit to Yoda does end up being pushed to the start of the film however.

They've done it like a million times from way back in the days of The Crow and up through Tron: Legacy: taking a current star (or actor/stunt double/etc.) and superimposing another (and sometimes younger) face on them.  Even Episode I had Ewan McGregor and Liam Neeson's faces superimposed over their stunt doubles for a couple of shots.  I'm sorry, but they can totally do it.

Yes they did. In fast moving action sequences.

Not in close-up expressive moments.

being able to do it and being able to do it convincingly are two completely different things. The Crow was just a few brief straight on shots. All the head replacements/ digital doubles in the prequels looked terrible. The Jeff Bridges digital younger self still suffered with the "uncanny valley" problem that plagues CG human creations. They still can't do it convincingly to this day.
