Help Wanted: Rare Original IB Tech print of Alice in Wonderland (1950) Found!

As some of you know, Disney has been less than accurate with their release of the 1950 animated feature Alice in Wonderland. In addition to some changed colors, many of the groundbreaking original effects were changed, reconstructed digitally.

Recently, a rare IB Tech (no-fade, original colors) print has come up for sale. There are a number of us who would like to see it preserved. Unfortunately, it, like most Technicolor prints, is very expensive. The price is $750. We would like to purchase it and preserve it, but need help funding the project. At the present time, we have a few members who have donated $250 to the preservation. This leaves us with $500 to go. We are asking for your help - no amount too small - in donations to help us preserve this piece of cinematic history. Will you help us?

Disney IB Technicolor prints tend to be extremely high resolution and excellent quality prints. The closest thing to a negative you will find.

$500 is only 50 people donating $10 each. That seems like a good deal to preserve a piece of animation history.

Agreed. Count me in.

A picture is worth a thousand words. Post 102 is worth more.

I’m late to the party, but I think this is the best song. Enjoy!

I have the print on hold for two weeks, then it goes to the next buyer in line.

So if there is interest, please donate to have this print saved, otherwise it is unfortunately going to go to a known 'cutter'.

Oh, d@mn! I hope we can raise the funds to get it saved. For those not in the know, a "cutter" cuts prints up into 4 frame strips to sell on eBay...

Is that a "Really, how awesome!" or a "Really, that's all?"

I think he meant $490 still to raise, not that $490 had already been pledged.

You might want to bring this up in Doctor M's Disney thread.

Hell, I'll go far enough to say that if people want to pledge, I would be willing to pay them back once we have scanned the print.

I'd help out with this, but I'm not sure where to do that. I'm guessing people know this, but I found an old auction on Ebay from February which claims that the print was sold for 490 dollars. If this is the same one, the buyer will make a good profit. Here's the listing:

Send me a PM, either on here or over at AMPS to let me know how much you'd like to donate. I'll add that amount to the tally, and when the time comes, if we reach the goal, I'll get in contact with you to give you the Paypal info. :)

I don't think that's the same print, but I could be wrong...

A $10 donation this morning leaves us at $355... Almost there - please don't let this print go to a cutter!

Everything is looking good... Poita and I bumped up our donations to make it happen. :)
Still, if anyone could donate anything - no amount too small - it would really help Poita and I. We coughed up the extra so that this print would be saved from a cutter, but it was still quite a lot out of pocket for both of us.
Some info on the print - edge codes show "+." which indicate a 1974 print (the first theatrical rerelease).
