Info Wanted: Did anyone do a Star Wars Trilogy 1997 Special Edition Pan and Scan VHS Preservation?

Is anyone willing to do a transfer of the 1997 Special Edition VHS tapes on this forum? They have a different transfer of the movie than the 1982 VHS tapes or LaserDiscs.

Dark Jedi did a preservation but that was like the better part of a decade ago.  Not with the newest tech not even sure they were ivtc'ed.

That one was widescreen but this is fullscreen. Did you read the post title before you posted?

He did a project based on the fullscreen vhs tapes of the special edition i am almost 100% sure of it.

As he also did the faces tapes in fullscreen.  Which were never commerically released on DVD that way.

On Russ's site click on special edition and look at the right hand of the page for the mention of dark jedi full screen special edition.

Click on the link it exists.

The real unfortunate thing is it mentions the capture method he used for the laserdisc widescreen release.  Not how the  fullscreen VHS tapes were captured.

If fullscreen laserdiscs exist for either the 1995 faces transfers, or the 1997 special edition they must be bootlegs  because i believe all commercially released versions were letterbox.

I have the '97 SE VHS tapes in 4:3, I don't have any capture equipment at the minute and my only VCR is broke, if I get round to replacing these two things or borrowing from someone else, i'll let you know.

I'm based in a PAL country though so naturally these are PAL tapes.

i did those pages 8 long years ago and this is the first time I have been told obout or noticed that mistake. Ooooops!!!

I know that there were even more changes done in 2004 but the Fullscreen DVD's are well worth getting hold of.

For fans of Fullscreen, my thread here is well worth a read.....

Well that seems unnecessarily rude...

A picture is worth a thousand words. Post 102 is worth more.

I’m late to the party, but I think this is the best song. Enjoy!

I would like to politely point out that you are stating the obvious here.  The 1982 VHS/LD versions could not be the SE versions because they were released in 1982, not 1997.  I'm not complaining or trying to be mean, I'm just saying.

I have the Australian PAL SE tapes, but I think I only have the WS ones, I'll have to check.

I've started thinking about this, but I'm in no way close to getting started.  I've got a Panasonic AG 1980 in the mail, and a brand new, unopened fs se trilogy set I got for $4 on ebay, ready to go.  I have some other projects I'm working on now though.

I'd really like to see someone preserve the SE Laserdiscs as I've always wanted to see the Jabba scene with the different animation.

If anyone has done this, let me know.

...sorry for the minor subject change.

I've done it - only A New Hope for the moment... but I'm thinking about to re-do it, along with the other two episodes.

Sadly my projects are lost due to an HDD crash… 😦 | [Fundamental Collection] thread | blog.spoRv.com | fan preservation forum: fanres.com

There's something worth preserving at the end of my tape... It's a little time and date on the upper right corner. Could anyone check their tapes to see if they have this? I'll be checking very soon for it...

I REALLY need to dig out my tape and see if it has that date at the end...

colton why not actually get off the boards and dig out this tape, or start working on some sort of project, and come back when you have something new to present, before you get banned for bumping multiple threads for no proper reason.

Waiting for my tape to fast-forward...

It's really unnecessary for you to tell us these kinds of things.
