But regardless, using it to justify something in the SW universe is ludicrous.

I thought we agreed on AR:SE
Personally, I'll be referring to it as SW:R HD, and to hell with ANH! ;)
since this was the best episode in the series, we could only imagine how much work will go into the next four films.
No shit....and nice name^^^^
I really want to see this edit real bad! I know they have said by the end of the year but thats still too long, how about by the end of the month? lol

It's done when it's done... But I would be surprised if it all looked exactly the same as all the clips that have been released thus far...
some you can no longer see as they have been removed from youtube and where ever else.
I am really excited to see it.... But I don't want to raise expectations any higher than the original film... This way when I watch it I'll treat it like watching the original and just notice the differences and changes as they occur (And with help from the change list too).
I wonder what the final change list will actually be.... I Hope doubleofive presents this one the same as Star wars revisited and well I am a believer in that, that list in the first post is a mere shadow on the actually individual changes so far even.
First post says 208 changes.
What number of changes we on now doubleofive (without joking please) or rough guestimation on your last count?

Changes HAVE been made. Ady's a perfectionist...always tweaking little details.

while that is great and that drive to improve it just a bit more... There is a danger in that so much as you never feel like your truly finished it...
I used to get that when I used to write music... Making a great intro and middle section but never really knowing how to create the end...I'd often end up in a whole other piece of music in the same track sometimes But not always sometimes the end just falls in to place naturally It is a strange thing that with any artisitic or creative process..

The work he's done on ESB:R is VERY respectful of the original. VERY.
I'd say that 80-90% of what he's done is small details.....just perfecting an already almost-perfect film. The larger details (ie: models) are staying very true to what was there before it....and generally replacing things that were never quite up to snuff.
While ANH felt a tiny bit different due to some of the additions, subtrations or changes, ESB will still feel very much like the original film. Nothing is being changed in the way of pacing, or scene/shot order.

That's what worries me.

Spoiler free for the ST
There is only one section for scene re-arrangement in empire strikes back of any real worth...not counting special edition scenes up for the chop
So I respect that decision

Does this mean R2-D2 won't escape from Cloud City without his tool misfunction extended in ESB:R?

I know this edit is not a complete remake of the film itself, but it is always exciting to see even the small changes that Ady makes. The movie is great on its own but when small details like a working screen in the fighters and fixing continuity errors help enhance the film and give it the feel that it is set in a technologically advanced time period.

It IS his edit after all. If you feel it goes too far in spots then feel free to edit out whatever you don't like in your own version.
I don't disagree with any of the changes Ady has made. My comment refers to the length of time this project has taken, which, in part, must be due to his perfectionist streak.
I don't think I'm alone in worrying about how long it will take him to complete all the other movies. Perfectionism often stifles creativity.

Impossible to say. Thankfully I think Adywan will be doing the official Visual Comparison again, which is great as I won't have to try to figure out what changed frame-by-frame (which we had to do with the Special Edition VCs since ILM never replied to my emails). Scanning the list I'm sure there are a few things that aren't on there, but I can say that most of it is covered by the list.Ronster said:

I see....I misread that. Apologies for my tone in that case. Much of what he is doing is stuff he's wanted to from the very beginning, but couldn't...didn't quite know how to.....didn't think he'd have the time for. While working on these edits he has acquired all kinds of new skills and specific tricks to do things (or to improve what has already been done). Hell, even one of the physical models that Ady was working on will have something added to it that he didn't think he'd be able to get (can't tell you which just yet)....new doors are opening all the time, many of them making possible some of the visions Ady had quite a while back that he had given up as impossible. That, unfortunately, will take the time it takes. And you needn't worry about Ady's creativity being stifled. That's in no danger of happening.
Muddyknees2000, I had seen a video on youtube where ady was trying to make the movement of the AT-AT smoother and a bit faster like their counterparts in the PT, will that be the case, that is if you can share that answer? also is there anywhere i could watch the clips that were posted/removed from youtube anywhere else? thanks!
